I have a few other Ring cameras around the house, a doorbell camera as well as a floodlight camera on our driveway. I thought this would be a great addition to our backward so that our whole property would be covered in cameras. Out of the box it looks like the same quality product that I have come to expect from Ring. I live in Wisconsin, so we get the harshest winter conditions as well as the blazing hot sun in the summer. Our cameras have always held up very well to the elements. Getting it installed was a breeze. If you already have a Ring camera, then you already have the app and an account set up, so you can just go to add a new camera and go through the on-screen steps to get it connected. If this is your first Ring camera, then you will need to download the app and set up an account. It’s very easy to do. Once you get it set up, you can find a great place to put it on your property. This isn’t a solar camera, so you can mount it pretty much anywhere and you don’t have to worry about sunlight, but you do have to make sure you can get easy access to it when you need to pop out the battery and recharge it, so keep that in mind. As far as the operation goes. The camera has an amazing 2K picture. During the day it is crystal clear and I can easily pick out details on things in our backyard. At night, this camera has great night vision, especially when you enable the spotlight that is on the camera. Our backyard is pitch black at night. I can’t say that the light brightens up our whole backyard to be really bright, but it definitely aids in getting a much clearer night vision picture. I think that is the main purpose of the light, to let any intruders know that there is a camera there, and to make sure you get a clear picture with the night vision. If you want something that makes your whole area very bright, then you might want a separate floodlight. As with all Ring cameras, you can set up zones that you want the camera to cover, you can customize your notifications to your liking as well. With Ring cameras, you don’t have to pay for a subscription if you don’t want to, but you will miss out on a lot of the features as well as being able to go back and look at videos. The monthly plans are fairly reasonable. Overall, this is a great camera, and if you already have other Ring cameras, this one will fit in perfectly. If you are a new Ring user, this is a great place to start!

The installation was very simple. It pretty much consisted of charging the battery, assembling the housing, adding the device to the app, and finally installing it. It may sound as if I am oversimplifying the process, but the installation was exactly that easy. Ring has improved the activation process a great deal. It was painless and effortless. The build quality is solid, as it is with all Ring devices. The device has a decent weight, solid housing, and a sturdy mount. It looks like it is ready to handle the extreme climate in my area. The quality of the 2K video is very decent. It is not as crisp as 4K when enlarging the image, but it is clear enough to see important details in the videos. The 6x zoom is nice, but the image does become slightly blurry since it is not 4K. The motion activation has been very accurate in my experience. There is not a long delay between the motion being detected and the recording beginning. It has been quick enough to capture the movement. The battery-powered option is very convenient, and the included mount makes it easy to install the camera almost anywhere. Ring also offers wired wall plugs and solar panels, which I have not yet explored. The camera’s size also makes it very versatile when choosing where to place it. The remote audio option works pretty smoothly. There is not much lag between speaking through the app and hearing it broadcast through the camera. The speaker is loud enough for a small device and works well over short distances. I personally do not use this option very often. The alerts are also fairly accurate. I do not receive many false alerts when the security camera is properly positioned, and the motion alerts are active. The app allows you to choose which alerts you receive and customize the settings based on your needs. The app is very intuitive and easy to use. I have multiple Ring devices and can easily control them and switch between them. The downside for me is the paid subscription. The ability to store and rewatch recorded videos is locked behind a paywall. The only other downside is that the LED lights do not cover a very large area. However, I chose the smaller camera instead of the Ring Spotlight Cam, so it may not be a completely fair criticism. It is still worth mentioning. Overall, this is a very good device that provides added security and some lighting in a dark area. However, if your main focus is illuminating a larger space, I would recommend choosing the Spotlight Cam instead.

I chose the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery (2nd Gen) over other battery-powered security cameras because I wanted a simple installation without wiring, and built-in spotlights for added security at night. It offered a good balance of features, video quality, and ease of use. The camera has a clean, modern look, and the white color blends nicely with light-colored walls and trim. It doesn't stand out too much, giving it a neat and professional appearance once installed. Installation was one of the biggest advantages. Everything needed for mounting was included, and the quick-release battery made setup fast without having to run power cables. It took only a few minutes to get the camera mounted, connected to Wi-Fi, and ready to use through the Ring app. The Retinal 2K video is sharp and provides clear daytime and nighttime footage. The wide-angle view covers a large area, and the enhanced zoom is helpful for checking details like faces or package labels. The motion-activated spotlights are bright enough to light up dark areas, and the built-in siren adds another layer of security if needed. The Ring app is easy to navigate and lets you quickly access live view, customize motion zones, receive alerts, and use two-way talk. If you already own other Ring devices, they integrate seamlessly for a more complete home security system. I do have more than 9 Ring outdoor cameras like Floodlight, wired cameras so this one integrated well to my eco system where the wiring is not option and had dead spot. Pros: Very easy battery-powered installation with no wiring Sharp 2K video and wide viewing angle Bright motionactivated spotlights Quick-release battery is easy to remove and recharge User-friendly Ring app with reliable notifications Attractive design that blends well with most homes Cons: Many advanced features require a Ring Protect subscription Battery life depends on motion activity and may require more frequent charging in busy areas Overall, its a high-quality, well-designed security camera that's easy to install and performs well. If you're looking for a reliable outdoor camera with excellent video quality, bright spotlights, and a simple setup process, it's a great value and an easy recommendation.

I just finished setting up my Ring Spotlight Cam Battery and honestly, the whole experience started on a high note right from unboxing. The packaging was clean and simple, nothing overdone, and everything inside was organized in a way that made me feel like I wasn’t about to wrestle with a complicated install. The camera itself has a solid, smooth finish, and the white color actually looks nicer in person than it does online. It feels like a real piece of tech, not a flimsy plastic gadget. Setting it up was surprisingly easy. I mounted mine above my driveway, and the app walked me through each step without any confusing jargon. The first thing that stood out was the Retinal 2K wide‑angle video. I’ve used Blink cameras before, and while they’re fine, the clarity on this Ring model is noticeably sharper especially at night. The motion‑activated spotlights kick on instantly, and the brightness is strong enough to light up my whole walkway without feeling like a stadium floodlight. The 6x zoom is actually useful too. I tested it by zooming in on my mailbox from about 40 feet away, and I could clearly read the house numbers. Battery life has been solid so far. I’ve had other brands where the battery drains fast in cold weather, but this Ring cam seems to hold up better. I also like how seamlessly it integrates with the rest of my Ring devices. no weird syncing delays or app glitches. One small thing I appreciated is the motion alerts aren’t overly dramatic. With some cameras, every passing car triggers a notification, but this one feels smarter about what it flags. Bottom line: I definitely recommend this camera. It’s easy to set up, the video quality is excellent, and the spotlights make a real difference for nighttime security. If you’re comparing brands, this Ring model feels more polished and reliable than others I’ve tried. It’s one of those purchases where you immediately feel like you upgraded your home security in a meaningful way.

This new Ring Spotlight Cam (with Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video, 6x Enhanced Zoom, and Motion-Activated Spotlights) is a solid security-cam with helpful improvements over earlier versions. Setup is pretty much what you’d expect. Charge the battery while downloading the app - and then use the app to guide you through the setup and installation process. For those already using the Ring eco-system, all of this is familiar, and it makes adding the new Spotlight Cam to your system easy. The Ring Spotlight Cam (newest model) brings upgrades in image and audio quality, and zone sensitivity. The spotlight is strong without being glaring and it’s so helpful for getting a better image of what’s in the camera’s viewing area. I do wish the battery was charged with an USB-C rather than a mini-USB, but you can use a USB-C to charge the battery - if you uncover the port on the back of the camera case. But this may require more flexibility in your installation than you desire. The slot for a second battery, which can be used for extending the time between charging, is wonderful. Ring security devices are a trusted brand with proven, reliable performance. Though this newest model of their Spotlight Cam does not offer sensational new features, it does bring welcome, incremental improvements. And that reinforces the long-term value of being in the Ring eco-system. We’re very pleased to have added it to ours.

I know this camera needs to be mounted outside, but we opted to use a solar panel for power. It was going to take longer than expected to arrive so to be able to get this review completed in a timely manner, we charged, it and set it up in the app, but it's still in our kitchen. It doesn't have a flat base under the camera, it is meant to be mounted on the wall. but it was kind of fun to watch the videos that was saved with a weird wobbly angle. Also, one morning my husband went to let the dogs out without turning the light on over the table. The spotlights came on and about gave him a heart attack! He didn't know it was there and it took him a few to realize it wasn't an intruder with a flashlight. Haha, oops! I should have let him know what I was doing with it. If you're familiar with the ring infrastructure, then you know how easy they are to mount, how easy they are to set up in the app and how to access them. The video quality is fantastic. The sound quality is great and motion detection, as he learned that morning, is very very good, even in the dark. We are very happy to add this camera to our ring system.

This Ring Battery Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen, newest model) Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video with 6x Enhanced Zoom is a step up from the previous model we have as part of our Ring security system we’ve always used since moving into our home. We have an older model spotlight cam positioned at the front left corner of the house, just under the roof line. However, for quite a while now, we’ve been having issues with the device losing signal and overall not performing optimally, which kinda defeats the purpose. So this new Ring Spotlight Camera will be replacing that “faulty” device. Since we have an entire Ring eco-system already in place, adding this new spotlight camera to our account in the app was a simple procedure. After scanning the QR code, the Ring app takes you through the setup process. Then you can customize your new spotlight cam’s settings. Once you decide where to place the device, installation is easy enough with the included hardware. Right off the bat I can definitely see how different this device looks compared to that previous generation Ring spotlight camera. Yet it’s basically the same, except for the upgrades to the features and hardware. I did notice the improvement in visual quality of this spotlight cam in comparison to our current device. Video is crisper, showing more detail, with less blurriness or pixelization. Design of the side lights is much better and they appear to be brighter as a result of the 550 lumens. The audio sounds clearer, yet there is still a slight delay in audio responsiveness, as with our previous model. So far we’ve not experienced those frustrating ‘lost connection’ issues, however. The Battery Compartment really stands out to me, as to how it’s designed. There’s a ‘press down’ tab that lifts the battery holder up, so that you can get to the metal tab to push and release the battery in order to lift it out. Very convenient. There are two slots for two batteries, although only one is included. You can, of course, buy another. The texturized look of the bottom “twist to lock/unlock” cover part, where the battery compartment is located, is nice. While there are many choices out there for home security devices, Ring has served us well for many years, with very few issues. This newest model 2nd Gen Ring Spotlight Camera with Battery has some great feature and build improvements. Recommend.

The new Ring Spotlight Cam Battery with wide‑angle 2K Retinal video has been a great addition to my existing Ring ecosystem of cameras and Ring alarm already set up throughout my household. I wanted something flexible for my backyard, and this model fit perfectly into that role while still feeling familiar and easy to manage through the Ring app. Unboxing and setup were very straightforward. The battery came almost fully charged right out of the box, but I still chose to top it off completely after mounting the camera outside on my shed to maximize runtime from day one. I really appreciate the battery‑powered design because it lets you place the camera essentially anywhere, which is especially helpful when you do not have a hard‑wired power option in the area you want to cover. Mounting it with the included hardware was simple and intuitive, and getting it physically installed only took a short time. On the software side, setup did not take long at all. Because I already have a Ring system in place, adding this camera through the Ring app was almost seamless. Connection to Wi‑Fi was instant and did not even require re‑entering the network password since it joined the existing Ring infrastructure. Once the camera finished its automatic installation and firmware updates, it started streaming video right away without any extra effort on my part. Video quality has been excellent. The 2K Retinal wide‑angle footage looks very clear and vibrant, and from where the camera is mounted on my shed, it provides a broad view of the entire backyard. Details are easy to make out, and the wide field of view helps ensure there are not many blind spots within the coverage area. The microphone and speaker are strong as well. When I connect through the app and talk, the audio coming through the camera is loud and easy to hear. It was genuinely funny watching my dog try to figure out where my voice was coming from the first time I spoke through the camera while standing inside the house. Night performance has also been impressive. The camera continues to provide clear images after dark, and motion alerts and recordings at night come through with enough detail to see what is happening. Notifications have been instant, which is important when you want to respond quickly to any activity around your property. The built‑in spotlight is decent: it will not light up the entire yard, but it provides enough illumination to make the area around the shed visible and to act as a deterrent for unwanted visitors who suddenly find themselves in a lit area when motion is detected. One feature I particularly like is the 30‑day trial of Ring’s new AI alert notifications that comes with a new camera purchase and install. The AI‑based notifications have been impressive and quite accurate so far. They can differentiate between different types of motion more intelligently, and the face recognition feature is a nice touch. Being able to associate names with recognized faces helps reduce unnecessary alerts for familiar people and makes the notifications feel more personal and useful. Battery life has been solid as well. Even with several alerts, recordings, and regular live views during the week plus that it has been installed, the battery has lasted quite a while without needing to be recharged. That said, because it is battery‑powered and seeing how much I use it, I will probably invest in a solar charger or a second battery to minimize downtime whenever the battery eventually runs low. That small addition would make the overall experience feel nearly maintenance‑free. Overall, for the price and the convenience, this Ring Spotlight Cam Battery model has been a very good investment, especially if you already have a Ring setup in your home. It integrates smoothly into the existing ecosystem, offers clear wide‑angle 2K video, strong audio, useful AI‑driven notifications, and flexible placement thanks to the battery power. While the spotlight could be brighter for full‑yard coverage, it still serves its purpose well and ties together a camera that feels both capable and reliable for backyard monitoring.

I have a mix of smart home devices in my home, particularly when it comes to security cameras. Ring has been around for a long time and have found a way to improve their product lines, year over year. The only real confusing part is their naming conventions for the product lines. Especially their doorbell cameras. Outside of that, the products that I own have been reliable and durable with very few, if any issues identified. This camera in particular is awesome! Programming it with my existing Ring products took less than 10 minutes and gave me the option to connect to either my chime network or my home's Wi-Fi. Initially, I connected to my Ring Chime, but I noticed delays in connecting when using live preview. The app made it simple to change to my Wi-Fi network, and I noticed improved performance instantly. The images are crystal clear with its 2K retinal camera and although I wish the field of view was a little larger (it's 140 degrees), it covers the area of my backyard that I need protected. The one feature that I think is overlooked about this camera is the dual battery setup. I didnt realize I could buy a second battery and pop them both into the camera. I can check the status of both batteries in the app and determine when I should charge one. This feature is really a game changer. You can essentially never have the camera offline. You charge one battery, while the other is still in use and you are always online. The camera has a little weight to it, which is fine, but just more than I expected it to. You can mount this to the ceiling or against a wall depending on your setup. I really like this camera. It works great and although I've only had it installed for a week or so, the battery life has been great. I fully charged the battery about 10 days ago and its still at 92%. Your mileage may vary, given the activity in the area where you mount it. It's also important to mount it high enough that no one can knock it down or turn it, but also low enough so that you can change the batteries when needed. You can use a solar recharge if you prefer and there are also options for plugging it into the wall or hardwiring it into a box. Overall, I am really impressed with this camera and would recommend it. I also appreciate that I can have 180 day storage for all of my Ring devices at my house for one flat fee of $100 annually. Now that is the basic plan and it can quickly get up there if you add AI descriptions and 24/7 recording for devices that are hardwired. I like the AI, but its a bit too pricey for me, so I will stick with the Multi-Ring plan.

I’ve had the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery (2nd Gen) for a little while now and got a lot out of it. The installation was quick, the Ring app took me through it step by step and within minutes I had connected the camera and the monitoring in place just where I wanted it to be. The live view was quick, the motion detection has been good and the spotlight is bright enough to really help at night without getting overwhelming. I also like how it connects well to the Ring ecosystem as well. If you already have Ring devices, this camera is really as easy to add. Video quality is excellent both during the day and at night and I like to have the ability to customize motion zones so I’m not getting alerts every time a car drives by. Battery life has also been respectable based on my usage, and swapping batteries is simple if you keep a spare charged. The charging connection on the battery was the one thing that I was really surprised by—and not in a good way. For Ring to market this as one of its current products is so disappointing that the removable battery still charges through a Micro-USB port. USB-C has become the standard for almost everything from phones and tablets to cameras and flashlights in 2026, and for this battery having to carry a Micro-USB cable is a step back. That complaint aside, even with the Micro-USB port on the battery the camera perfoms well, but its just disappointing. Strong and clear video quality, reliable notifications, easy setup and solid integration with the Ring platform and app make it an easy recommendation. I just hope the next hardware revision finally leaves Micro-USB behind because that’s really the only thing keeping this from feeling like a completely modern security camera.

I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before reviewing so I could adequately test the battery of this camera. Having a spotlight camera that is battery powered is extremely useful especially when renting or attaching to RV. The installation is minimal and mostly effortless and just involves 1 or 2 screws or if you prefer, you can use 30Lb tape if you don't want to put holes in your house or RV. The battery is rechargeable and the kit includes recharging cable. (Not a given these days) I have found that the spot light lasts a decent amount of time but depending on usage, you may need to recharge more than you would want to. I have raccoons, squirrels, and possums that set it off and I have actually had to recharge the battery after just two weeks. My other battery powered spotlight lasts several months. The light output is adequate but not daylight bright and again not quite as bright as my other battery powered spotlight. Being a Ring camera allows this to fit nicely into your Ring ecosystem (if you have one), which means that you can control this from Alexa. The camera is weatherproof and the build quality is very solid. Aside from the inevitable spider webs and bugs that make their home in these type of cameras, I can see this camera, lasting a very long time.

I own several Ring Security cameras and they do not disappoint. Most of my cameras are plugin or hard wired but sometimes you have a location that does not have electrical power. This battery powered camera comes with a slot for an extra battery so the need to charge will be less. The circumference of the camera is slightly larger but that is not an issue since the Ring Cameras are designed so that they fit into any environment. I have owned all of the generations of cameras and with each revision, they just keep getting better. I have them positioned both inside and out and can monitor my properties very well. This camera will be placed inside. The cameras have all kind of settings in the app and because I have several, I generally silence the notification. You can customize your view for decreasing notifications and the area monitored. Set up of this camera was very easy. I pay the annual fee so that I have view of the recordings. The picture quality of these cameras are very good and there is improvement in the quality of the picture with these newer generations. I highly recommend this Ring Camera!

I have used a multitude of security cameras from a variety of manufacturers. Indoor, outdoor, 2K, 4K, with and without lighting, and in just about every configuration possible. So where does this particular camera from Ring fall on my scale from junk to amazing? Well, slightly above average. Installation is straightforward and should be easy for even the novice user. For those with other Ring products you will find no difference in adding this camera to your lineup. This is a battery powered camera so it is pretty versatile as placement goes. The app experience is nice and adds to the ease of setup. With security cameras you need two things to work and work well - detection and image quality. The detection of this Ring camera is decent. It does a good job detecting motion and with a paid subscription will notify whether it is general motion, person, vehicle, etc. without the subscription you will only be notified that motion has been detected instead of a specific type. I don’t really have any complaints in the detection department as it certainly gets the job done. Image quality is where I feel this camera falls a bit short. During the day the camera has good image quality that is relatively clear. However once night falls so does the image quality. Images tend to be slightly grainy and less clear, even with the spotlight which is not the brightest and on occasion would wash out some images. Though I have to say this did not always happen but did occur nonetheless. I won’t go so far as to say the negatives I experienced make this an unusable device. But when you consider the premium price that Ring demands, I would expect nearly flawless performance, which just has not been the case. And those things make it hard to recommend. I would say if you are already in the Ring ecosystem you should probably opt for the higher end Pro versions of the cameras. For those looking for their first security camera there are certainly alternatives with less compromise.

The Ring - Spotlight Cam, Battery (newest model), Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video, 6x Enhanced Zoom, Motion-Activated Spotlights - White spotlight cam is a high quality and an easy to setup spotlight camera that fits perfectly within the Ring eco-system. Setup is through the easy to use and comprehensive Ring app. Basically just mount the camera and setup the wifi through the app and you are good to go. This should only take a few minutes since no wiring is required. The app lets you access live view, receive alerts, and use two way talk among other functions. Although the app features are comprehensive, many advanced features require a Ring Protect subscription. In operation, the Retina 2K video is clear both during daytime and nightime operaion. The spotlights are bright and the siren provides additional security. I highly recommend the Spotlight Cam if you are looking for an easy to setup and use spotlight security camera. If you already are in the Ring eco system, the purchase is even easier.

I'm new to ring, as I've used other brands for years so this is new to me. I'll say this, using this is super easy to understand compared to most others out there. Video quality is on par with most others out there, so don't expect anything special when it comes to this part of using this product. It's clear, and gives you the information needed to get what you want from looking at the video. The sound is clear, and you will be able to understand while listening for the most part. Talking to people has never been great when using these types of products, so keep that in mind. The light is bright, and will light up the area you need to see. The battery to me could last longer, but corners have to be cut somewhere and this might be an area where it was done to bring this to life. The wide-angle is nice, giving you much more in view that a lot of other cameras out there that this competes against. In the end, get more than just the doorbell. Grab this and any other camera to create a nice system.
