This thing is fantastic. I have owned the steam deck, Legion Go, currently have a GPD Win 4 and I have to say this thing is a mini power house. I was beyond impressed with the battery life and how comfortable it is in the hand. Performance is great and I couldn’t be happier.

This Ally X is an amazing Portable PC! I traded in my steam deck to get the ROG Ally X, and honestly it’s been such an amazing upgrade. Windows seems to work just fine on the system as I usually plug it into a monitor. The OS helps me run normal apps like a laptop, and games work with anti cheat just fine. I can play most games on normal settings without giving up on quality and performance. AMD’s native software also helps in frame generation at a lower resolution so 900p looks like 1080p! The performance is unmatched for any device of this price point, so I’d definitely recommend it!

The best purchase I've ever made. It helps me with my work — you can get everything like Microsoft Word, emails, set up videos — basically a full computer. Plus, I love games. It has good processing power, not slow at all, and I can take it anywhere. Highly recommended if you like games and get bored while you're out. You can use it without any issues. Simply the best gaming purchase I've made. What a marvel — 10/10.

Best handheld available Pc and console all in one.. I travel between studios and more and I can take it with me while on the go.Between making beats and playing games it’s my favorite console of the next gen.As a owner of the original z1e I updated to the Rog ally x and very happy I did.

This device shows great performance, it's like having a mini computer in your pocket. Easy to connect peripherals (mouse, keyboard), great performance in games. Wasn't expecting a perfect product in open-box, but turned out this console was actually in perfect condition and still had some time of warranty left. This added to BestBuy's 1 year warranty policy even for open-box products, I was sold.

Takes about 30-40min for initial setup but then you're golden to start gaming. Being a Windows based machine you will run into the occasional instance of the handheld not knowing if to use Gamepad or Desktop mode so you'll need to manually switch to it but you'll have access to a bigger library of games than if you had a Linux based OS. The battery life is amazing and can last anywhere from 3 to 8-9 hours depending on how intensive your game is. The Ally X also has multiple Operating Modes to use less power and quiet fans or use max on both depending on what your current task is. My only con would be that the Dpad recently started to squeak when pressing down.

I love this thing it plays out in the games no leg I can stream it on Discord and show my friends who came on playing No Lag battery lasts forever

This is amazing tech you can keep in a very large pocket, the operating system works well with the pre installed drivers, 45-60 fps on my favorite games I really like this device but the right side buttons are super loud like you'd give people sitting next to you a headache type of loud (you can fix this by using keyboard lube). Had this device for like a month so far and it still has almost no scratches, 0 on the screen. I would definitely have bought this a lot sooner if it was 500-600.

This handheld has blown my mind to be honest. I went into this thinking it would be really held back and not work well for most games regardless of what I paid. I found out that not only does it play games well but it also works great as a PC. It's a very versatile product and powerful. Works well on low power and can play games for good periods of time if your conscious of power consumption. Works well on power supply and has a safety feature so you don't ruin the battery when it's plugged in a lot or for long periods of time. I love this thing....

I've had this for a month now, bought it opened box and just remembered it was used writing this review. It works great, im in love with it and would highly recommend. Only con I can think of is the right joystick being in a lower position than the left. From time to time I touch the screen with my right thumb causing the game screen to move. To be fair, that can just be a personal problem.

Over my life I've owned a few handhelds, but the RoG Ally X is the absolute best. It packs enough power to run just about anything you could want at 60 FPS or higher. The form factor is top notch and I've used it every day for half a year now. The only issue I've had was the joysticks beginning to drift, but they were easily replaceable! A definite must-buy for any handheld gaming enthusiast.

We had an Rog Ally and this thing runs so much better than the regular version. The battery life is amazin compared.

I got this over the steamdeck because it can natively run windows. I have had zero porblems with running games on it at this point. Battery life is great and so is ability of it to run AAA games. Definitely reccomend!

The ROG Ally X is hands down the best handheld gaming PC on the market right now, effectively solving every minor gripe I had with the original model. The jump to 24GB of RAM and the massive 1TB SSD makes a noticeable difference in performance, allowing me to install a huge library of games that run smoother than ever on the stunning 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display. The biggest win, however, is the battery life; I’m finally getting several hours of playtime on AAA titles without being tethered to a wall, which truly delivers on the promise of portable gaming. Combined with the improved ergonomics—the deeper grips and premium-feeling buttons make long sessions incredibly comfortable—and the sleek new black chassis, this device feels like a mature, polished powerhouse that I can’t recommend enough.

I can game via my couch in comfort. I can play cyberpunk, and mainly been doing enshrouded at the moment with no issues. I even have this plugged into a nice portable monitor for more viewing space. it also makes for a decent replacement for a laptop. the SD works fine on this version. I have a 256 UHS-I 150MB/s read card and can play games off of it. I haven't tried my external ssd yet. Merry Christmas me!

Even though I have a very good gaming PC, I've found that I reach for my ALLY X more lately, this device is amazing, the battery and performance are best in class.

Wow what a Great gaming machine the X runs Steam and Windows 11. The battery is great too play all the games you want.

I bought the handheld during a blackfriday deal (2024). As of the writing of this review (Feb 2025), I have nothing but great experiences with the gaming device. The rog ally X is basically a mini windows laptop; and with that said it was very easy for me to set up the device to my liking. If youre undecided whether to buy or not maybe this review is your sign to go for it! Its a neat handheld and not as mainstream as a steam deck so you will get that "wow" factor from other people when you use it in public!!

I loved how easy was to set up the ROG Ally X and I downloaded all my fav PC game softwares. Bought it to have something on the go as I’m mainly PC gaming but the only thing is I’m not used to use controller so will probably buy a m&k to use it as I travel with it. This handheld is great for certain games but I decided to try some FPS games which it kinda disappointed me but for obvious reasons. I’m used to the big screen monitor and FOV so don’t recommend for FPS genre but some people do like it. It does look great and sleek, took me some time to get used to it.

The ally x is an upgrade from the original ally. Better battery faster & more ram two usb c ports better analog sticks. Yes its expensive but not overpriced. And the ROG soft case will fit the Ally x
