Posted .Hello E85JUICE,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us directly, we appreciate it! You are correct, in order for the Solar Panel to perform optimally and deliver a trickle recharge to the Spotlight Camera's rechargeable lithium battery, the device does need sufficient sunlight. We are pleased to read that you found a wired device solution that is working well for you in your home's environment. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with more information regarding our solar solution options.
The Ring Solar Panel and Super Solar Panel are designed to provide power for charging the Ring Stick Up Cam and Spotlight Cam. Which product is right for you depends on two important factors:
1. Number of Motion Events per day: If your Ring device is in an area that detects more events every day than average (defined as 10+ events per day) then your battery will drain faster and require more power or recharging more often.
2. Your Solar Environment: Warmer climates and areas that get less rain and cloud cover will get more kW of solar energy per day than rainier or cloudier zones. In such areas, having a larger solar panel may be a necessity for powering your Ring device.
This article elaborates a bit further on the differences in the Solar Panel hardware: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027286272-Picking-the-Correct-Solar-Panel-for-Your-Environment.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Solar Panel
is not fully charging your Ring Spotlight Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your solar power device such as an extended roof, trees branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.
The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar charger or solar panel receives. The solar charger or solar panel does require direct sunlight, so filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds would not provide a charge to your doorbell.

Posted .Hi Fred.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We understand how important it is for your device to receive a charge from your solar panel so that you do not miss events when recharging. The Ring Solar Panel for Spotlight and Stick Up Camera is intended to extend the battery life of your device, allowing you to recharge it less frequently, if at all. We are eager to work with you today and provide you with a solution.
It sounds like your solar panel is not keeping your Ring device charged. With a few hours of sunlight per day, it should keep your device fully charged. The Ring Solar Panel can be mounted anywhere on a wall or roof, but it should be placed in an area that gets at least a few hours of sun each day. When mounting a Ring Solar Panel, be sure to look out for overhanging branches or the shadows of nearby branches that may block the sun. It is important to us that your Ring Spotlight Camera remains charged to secure your home. Our Ring Solar Panel is intended to help supplement your Ring battery during sunlight hours. This way, you can prolong the time in-between having to recharge. Rest assured, we're here to help.
If your Ring Battery isn't receiving a charge, please ensure the solar panel's plug is securely inserted into your Spotlight Cam. Oftentimes, we find that unplugging and plugging the cable resolves this issue. Removing the device's battery may also help address this.
Can you please reach us directly? One of our specialists would be more than happy to go over this together in more detail. We're confident that we can help turn your experience around.
