Customer Ratings & Reviews

Love this camera! A liitle adventure came along with this purchase, in that when i first picked it up from Best Buy, i got it home, opened the A7R5 box, set up the camera, took it to a magazine photo shoot, and while downloading the compressed RAW files, i wondered why they were all 33MB, instead of 61MB. As it turns out, someone at Best Buy had switched cameras in the box, and it was actually an A7IV. I wasn't pleased. Best Buy gave me my A7RV once i returned to the Palmdale store.

The camera works flawlessly, The images are spectacular. The mechanics of working the camera are better than the D850 I used for years. The lenses are better than the lenses I used with the Nikon, better edge to edge sharpness. They are indeed larger and heavier

What can I say about this camera? Coming from an A7R II, the upgrade is absolutely night and day. The autofocus is incredible, the level of customization is next-level, and the battery life is outstanding. As always with mirrorless cameras, the weight is a bonus—it’s light but still feels solid in your hands. It’s fast, sharp, and just plain impressive. The 8K capabilities are a bit overkill for me (you’ll need a compatible memory card and a powerful computer to handle it), but it’s nice to have the option.

I read the reviews regarding the high resolution and ability to crop photos from this camera and still surprised by the image quality. I upgraded from the A7RIII and it was worth it. Yep, it’s expensive, but it is a lot of fun and can yield a return on investment for pros.

upgraded from a a7iv and couldn't be happier with the larger sensor size and over all better experience.

The resolution on this camera is unbeatable. The auto focus and tracking are stellar, and the primed lens I got with it make this an incredible set up!

Sony A7RV- The last camera I bought and it still works was the Sony Alpha A77 APSC crop sensor well most the glass I bought 85mm 1.4, 70-200 SSM G lens and 100 mm macro 2.8 ,70-300 SSM G lens and tons of other Alpha series A mount lenses.. Well with the Sony LA-EA5 A-mount Lens Adapter for E-mount Cameras I am able to use all this glass and they have never focused so fast on my other bodies SSM Amount lenses are silent and fast focusing no misses.. I thought Sony abandoned us A-mount users but they didnt they needed E mount lenses because 61 MP is going to show you the weakness of your lenses.. Dont even try the beer can its sadly a horrible lens under a full 61 mp.. but the 35-105 Minolta lens is pretty good for its age..but to add even more magic to this camera Sony added A full frame sensor and gives you the option to switch to A cropped mode so you can use the sweet spot of some old lenses or use crop sensor lenses.. or if you have a 100mm on you hit crop mode now you have 150mm without changing lenses at the cost of it being 26 MP but who cares phenominal.. So if you own A-mount and you have 6 old Sony flashes with the odd ball hot shoe well sony gave us a adapter Sony Multi Interface Shoe Adapter.. So I put on a Sony HVL -42 A.M. flash works perfect TTL exposure spot on all functions flawless Same with the Sony flash HVL- 58 A.M. HVL 46 A.M. The only thing that wont work the wireless optical but I use radio triggers so no big deal to me.. Onto the Camera A7RV the focus is crazy fast and it dont miss a picture or blur any there are so many focus settings in the menu.. The picture colors are spot on great color rendition Memory card:I found the Samsung pro ultimate 512 GB SDXC card works pretty good for all my pics and video I do it will record 8k and its a big file .. But if you want to be sure your getting every movie frame your gonna have to buy the Sony CFexpress type A memory card my videos look fine but I dont know if I am sacrificing frames for a cheaper memory card not sure.. But the Samsung wont bring disappointment for it being 512 gb at 62 dollars vs 960 GB of Sony CF express A memory costing $692 dollars.. I also use old Minolta Rokker lenses with an adapter on the Sony A7RV and since they are manual focus I use the zebra setting to see what's in focus.. Movie mode is great as long as you know the limitations of the camera more than I will ever need but if you want to see real clarity on your big screen TV it wont dissapoint.. no your Apple camera phone won't even hold a candle to it on the big screen.. The flip out rotate lcd on the back is a game changer its reall nice to angle it where I need it.. I also use remote shooting with my Samusung Ultra tab S9 so anyone I am shooting can see the shot as its happening on the 14 inch tablet beautiful.. The camera will also upload all my photos onto my tablet so I can edit them all on the fly love that I dont hook a cable to my pc anymore .. I am forgetting a 100 things but its a remarkable camera a.azing tool..

I recently bought the Sony RV camera from Best Buy, and I couldn't be more thrilled with my purchase! The camera's performance is exceptional, capturing stunningly clear and vibrant photos and videos. Best Buy offered an incredible deal that was hard to resist, and the flexible payment options using the Best Buy credit card made the purchase even more convenient. Highly recommend this camera and shopping experience!

The Sony Alpha 7R is a game-changer for me. The autofocus system is lightning-fast, ensuring sharp shots, while the durable, weather-sealed build adds reliability in diverse conditions.

It has be an absolute amazing upgrade! Love this camera cant say anything bad. Bought at end of 2024 and its been my work horse.

Without a doubt, it is the best camera I have had in my hands, the quality of the images is impressive, perfect 8k at 24 fps, the unbeatable dynamic range, and I am impressed by how well it works at high ISO.

The camera is excellent, an upgrade from my SONY A7RIII. Highly recommended. The website ad said you get a free 8 x 8 photo book from Snapbook. No such thing was ever included. Very misleading in their advertisement.

The new menu, AI processor, new autofocus system and flip out screen are the reasons I upgraded from the A7RIV. Just an awesome camera. You will not be disappointed, you can thank me later. :)

Really beautiful and nice peace of equipment. Already love it. Still working on figuring out how it works

I recently bought this camera and I have to say, it’s an incredible piece of technology! The picture quality is exceptionally sharp, capturing even the smallest details with stunning clarity. The video quality is equally impressive, with smooth and vibrant footage that truly brings moments to life. One of the best features is that it doesn’t overheat, even during extended use, which makes it perfect for long shoots. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy using this camera and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality device.

Absolutely love everything about this camera. The 61MP sensor makes for some high quality and beautiful images even when cropping in to a photo. Cant speak too much on video though as i dont really ahoot video.

Purchased A7R5 to have more mega pixels. I have been testing with various f stops to get max DOF. The results are amazing and sharp. I can also shoot in APS-c mode using my canon lens with the sigma mc-11 adapter. However there are some functions not available when using the adapter. But that's ok. I'm loving the MP madness. The focus tracking is so accurate. Plenty of buttons to also customize various functions of theA7R5. The articulating screen is another plus for various shooting angles. Buy this camera you will love it. Recommend to all. Buy it.

Coming from a Sony A7iii (with grip), I had very high expectations when purchasing this camera. I will use this almost exclusively as a nature photography tool, and already I can appreciate the focus abilities, resolution, and ability to track many subjects - especially birds in flight. It seems as if there is almost endless ability to program the buttons and features, but the design of this camera is less refined than that of my A7iii. The biggest drawback is the placement of the movie button where C1 used to be (and visa versa). Luckily I was able to program the movie button to function the way I want so it is consistent with the function on my A7iii. However, if I change the C1 function to act as the movie button, the grip will now start movie recording when pressing C1. Therefore I had to set the C1 function and Movie button as the same so the battery grip functions the way I want the C1 button to work. The battery grips for these cameras are not cheap, but I won't use these bodies without them. Herein also lies my gripe with Sony design. The grip on this A7RV is nowhere near as refined as the grip with the A7iii. The way the grip fits with the body on the A7RV is not well designed - almost as if it wasn't made for it. A real disappointment considering the cost and button placement. I know I'll come to love it eventually, but the design is a bit to be desired. This camera is an energy hog, so the grip is a necessity for me to have the power without changing batteries mid-shoot. You will have to check your post processing software to make sure it is compatible with the latest 'R' raw files. I had to update my software, but that is a minor gripe. The viewfinder is spectacular, and a real joy to use in the field!

The Sony a 7R5 is a big upgrade from my a 7R2. The camera has better resolution, it’s bigger, so it fits better in my hand, and who doesn’t love the smell of a brand new camera? It’s a higher quality experience.

I owned the A7 IV before this, but the A7R V just feels on another level. If you tend to refine your compositions in post, the 61 MP sensor is a total game changer.
