works really well for the price. it does the atmos sound quite well considering there are no rear speakers. bass is good and clear. hdmi ARC does not work as well as it should but i hear that that is a TCL thing. also no eARC so a few nice features are not there (most obvious is the auto lip sync)

Overall very happy with this purchase. Great sound quality and the sub-woofer will definitely shake the room if you turn it up.
There are better options out there, but they will cost you more money. This is the best option for this price point.

This thing sucks. Its always out if synch with the video on my TCL 600 series TV. maybe the TV sucks. One of them sucks! They are both made by TCL and they dont jive together. My movies all look like they are over dubbed because the mouths if the actors dont move at the same pace as the audio. TCL, you suck

Okay, set up was a breeze.
Sound is good. Not sure it’s better than my TCL 7+ soundbar.
Overall it’s just okay.
I really don’t like the snap sound as the sound bar registers the audio (or switches between shows or movies). Very annoying!!!!
Honestly, at this point, with limited Atmos content...go with the 7+.

I've owned at least a half dozen soundbars up and down the price scale. This one has a unique style that promises extended surround performance without the hassle of rear speakers. In practice, the surround effect is barely noticeable, even in a rectangular room with the appropriate surfaces to reflect sound. In addition, the subwoofer is very disappointing; it bottoms out easily and therefore its location is noticeable and annoying while watching movies.

DANG! This thing is amazing! It pretty much sets itself up with my TCL Roku TV. The sound quality is impressive with a VERY wide sound stage. Sounds seem to come from everywhere like a multi-speaker system!

This is my first sound bar. After using this I can never go back to just using a tv. The bass on the woofer is really great it shakes the floor gotta turn it down at night. Great value. Def recommend to compliment any TCL Tv

Overall, the TCL 9030 is a good soundbar. Product support is ok. Unbeknownst to me, the unit I recieved from BestBuy was a "retail sample", which I guess means demo? It works, but getting some of the features to function properly almost made me return it to the store. Could not get the wifi function to work, therefore no firmware updates. I kept it because the sound quality is really, and the price was very reasonable.

Finding the right sound mode can be frustrating. Had issues with the subwoofer emitting a deep muffled sound under the bass...like a static-y sounding knock. Comes and goes. Sound is acceptable otherwise.
NOTE: I went from a wired 7.1 setup to this because of the Dolby Atmos and space the sound bar setup provided. Sort of regretting it just a bit.

I had a lowered expectation for this soundbar, did a little research on it...but still expected the bare minimum. Surprisingly, it had the bottom(bass) to make the scenes in movies pop! But streaming music is less satisfying...can't win em all...lol.

Really really wanted to like this, but after fiddling with it for the last 3 weeks I give up....and Best Buy won't take it back any longer.
I have this sound bar paired with my 2020 TCL 6 series TV through the HDMI(ARC) port. When it works the sound is pretty good, but I don't really get a surround sound experience at all. Just a bit better audio than the TV's internal speakers. The problem is, it doesn't really work all that great. It is constantly turning off on its own and regularly switches to other inputs. When it is on and at the correct input the sound and picture are often so out of sync it's not even watchable. Even the simplest thing I could think of -- over the air TV -- is awful with this soundbar. I had to switch back to the TV's internal speaker.

Had to replace an old Sony soundbar and landed on this beauty because it is capable of Dolby atmos. I don’t know if I have hearing the atmos effect but it’s sure is loud and satisfying.

Horrible sound bar. Would not recommend.
I bought this sound bar as I have a tcl Roku tv and I thought the integration would be seamless but that is not the case. Setup isn’t too difficult as the tv walks you through but the sound bar is constantly freezing or making weird sounds out of it. If you run something through the sound bar to the tv (blu ray, Apple TV, etc.) it will work. Sometimes. Other times you turn on your tv and it flashes back and forth from a black screen to the tv telling you nothing is connect. Must unplug all 3 (tv, sound bar, player) in order for any sound or picture to come through. This would be fine if it was every once and a while but I have found that it is quite frequently and issue and is particularly unpleasant when you have company over. As your sitting their fumbling wires trying to watch a movie. Save your money and buy a decent sound bar.

Much better than the 8i - this one has wifi connectivity and a sub and atmos--sound is very good, recommend! On roku-had to set the audio to 'pass through' to fix an audio sync issue with voices.

I have a Tcl 65 inch 65Q825 tv so the alto9+ should have paired perfectly together. NOPE! Sync is terrible. Only way it syncs correctly is to set audio to pass through in the audio settings. I could live with that, but it also has trouble when the tv goes to screen saver the sound bar goes to sleep and won’t wake on starting a new app or channel. You have to use the remote to power the bar back up. Or press the power button on the sound bar. Also, many times in the morning when the tv and sound bar are used for the first time. The sound bars volume will not go up or down when the channel or app is changed for the first time. The remote for the sound bar also is no responsive. I have to power the tv off and restart the tv. Sometimes I have to go into the settings and make it reset. I’m tired of messing with this sound bar and will be taking it back to Best Buy. Yes, I have connected to the internet and updated to the latest firmware V 3.0
