I spent a lot of time researching and pricing this TV. I got the best price at BB and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Their delivery service was courteous and quick. They moved my 60" for me and placed my new 70" accordingly. I have purchased 3 Sharp TV's from BB and all are still in service. This is my first 3D TV and I love it! I have looked at other brands and still like Sharp the best.

I was concerned at first whether I made a good choice between Sharp, Samsung, Visio and others. I tell you hands down I am so happy with my purchase I brag to everyone how beautiful the picture is! I was a Visio man because of the value, but this is worth the little extra money.

What I liked... The cost. The size. The ability to play 4k programming. The picture when displaying Full HD programming. The Smart Hub. What I didn't like... Blooming. Edge light. Motion blur. Horrible side viewing. Unsatisfactory picture after several calibration attempts. This TV was in my sweet spot. 70 inches, around $2000, able to play 4k. I did a lot of research before buying this. A LOT of research. In the end, the criticisms that I had read regarding blooming (white clouding on the screen during dark scenes), and issues with motion blur rang true and combined with my problems properly calibrating this set, I had to return it. Shame, because I really wanted to like it. A couple of notes for those of you considering this set. First, I paid for the top of the line 70 inch set with the higher contrast ratio, THX, and advanced motion features. None of these features were worth the expense. The contrast ratio did not make a difference when compared to the lower end 70 inch model. The THX was a non-issue because I'm using my own sound system. And the advanced motion features caused more problems than they were worth. To be clear on that last point... I'm watching hockey with the motion features turned on and I couldn't believe how streaky the puck was. It looked like it was skipping across the screen. Watching Edge of Tomorrow was horrible. When the soldiers are jogging in formation, their faces and bodies were a constant jerky blur. After using all of the motion settings, I finally turned them all off and guess what? No motion blur... or at least an acceptable amount... barely perceptible. So that's about the extra features I paid for. Not worth it. Regarding problems I had read about... motion blur is already discussed. Blooming.... Yah, it has it and it is noticeable and distracting. Watching Maze Runner showed it bad and I couldn't stop looking at it. Edge light... easy to ignore, but still there especially in darker scenes. Side viewing.... I was not expecting it to be so poor. If you are not sitting directly in front of the set to about 45 degrees, the screen gets washed out. And while you may never notice it during movie night, you would definitely notice it during casual viewing when you might be walking around or not sitting right in front of the set. Finally, the amount of effort it took to properly calibrate this set was unacceptable to me. I could never get it "just right" and it was frustrating. And yes, I know how to calibrate a TV. I could get it to look pretty good. But not like I wanted. To those who think I might be nitpicky... I had a Samsung 65 inch plasma that quit and I had none of these issues. Loved that set. Calibrated it and it was perfect. Displayed true blacks and Full HD was incredible. Sharp never came close. So... what did I do? I returned the Sharp and got the 65 inch Sony XBR65X850B for a little more money and couldn't be happier. A little smaller than I wanted. But it is 4k and had outstanding picture out of the box. Hardly had to calibrate it. No motion blur (120Hz), great side viewing, no blooming, and it upconverts all non-4k signals beautifully. This was the better choice for me... I just wish the 70 inch was in my price range. I hope this helps anybody considering this set.
