Customers love the SP600N Sports Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones for their exceptional sound quality, long battery life, and comfortable fit. Many users rave about the well-balanced audio experience, with just the right amount of bass. However, some users have expressed concerns about the fit of the earbuds, microphone quality, volume levels, design, and weight.
Was anxious to receive this complimentary Sony WI-SP600N, Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphone set for evaluation while going through my running and workout paces. And, after two weeks of running and working out, alternately, every other day, I am super-impressed. These are the best ear buds I have ever used to go through the tortures of bouncing up and down while running. They stayed snugly in my ear while delivering crisp, clear, powerful sound. This whole unit, earbuds, earwings, wires and control unit, weighs less then two ounces. It was easy to run and exercise wearing this lightweight unit. I no longer have to deal with a bothersome neckband rubbing against the back of my neck. And, I can use Siri to make my hands free, phone calls too. How cool is that? ***Sound*** > For physically active sports the sound quality is just as important as the snug and reliable fit of these wireless, in-ear headphones. Sony designed this set so I can use 'Noise Canceling' when I activate it, and, or allow Ambient Sound through in two different settings. 'Normal', for safety in an outdoor environment like around auto traffic. And, 'Voice' for gym workouts to hear an instructor or buddy, and, or with a running partner like I do every other day. > Headphones Connect App – Can be downloaded for Free at the Apple or Google Play Stores. The App allows you to turn ON the Quick Sound Settings, which enables you to set the Ambient Sound Control and Equalizer Presets. The App on your smartphone or device can control switching between the two Ambient Sound Modes, Normal and Voice, and the Noise Canceling mode. The EQ Presets are Bright, Excited, Mellow, Relaxed, Vocal, Treble Boost, Bass Boost, Speech, and OFF. I personally like the Excited Preset because it has the highest bass setting (+8) over Bass Boost (+7), which I prefer for my workouts. Excited features more of the kick drum, deep bass, whereas Bass Boost accentuates the low end of acoustic guitar, piano, and deeper notes of vocalists while providing a punch for robust bass tones. Although you cannot adjust any of the EQ settings you can have FUN using the eight presets according to your musical genre choices. The App also displays what music is playing, battery power, along with your choice of Sound Quality Mode, priority on Sound Quality or Stable Connection. The APP also remembers all of your last settings. > Noise Cancellation – I found that this is a two step process. First, Passive Noise Cancellation. It is super important to match the appropriate eartip and earwing to fit your ear correctly. I started out using the large sizes, which is the best for me. These eartips are softly cushioned and elongated, which really helped me to get the right fit. Yet, they are still comfortable in my ears. WooHoo! The active Noise Cancellation feature is superior to other sets I have used for sports, in-ear headphones. However, there is no comparison to over-the-ear headphones. It uses the two built-in microphones on the earbuds to sense outside noise and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the unit. The Noise Cancellation feature is engineered to work in the low frequency band. It does reduce the ambient sound, but NOT cancel it out completely. The majority of the time I wear and use these I have the ambient sound to 'Normal' or 'Voice' so I can workout and run with a partner. > Notification Sounds – This Sony alerts you when the unit is powered ON and OFF. It also lets you know the status of the battery level and Bluetooth Pairing. ***What's In The Box?*** > Sony WI-SP600N Wireless Noise-Canceling In-Ear Sports Headphones. > Arc Supporters – Two sets, one Medium and one Large. > Hybrid Eartips – Four sets, Extra Small, Small, Medium, and Large. > Charge Cable - Micro-USB Cable. ***Other Sony WI-SP600N Features:*** > IPX4 Rating – Can tolerate perspiration, light rain, and splashes. Be aware they are not waterproof. Oddly enough, the Noise Cancellation feature works better for me after a workout or run. I think the perspiration moisture in my ear makes for a better seal with the eartips. > Battery Life - It takes approximately one and half hours to fully charge, which will last approximately six hours according to Sony. At the volume level I set I got around five hours of continued use. There is a red LED indicator light ON while charging and OFF when fully charged. > On Board Controls – They are simple and it is an easy learning curve to master. By the third day I was on top of it. However, Sony Connected App is simpler to use. > Bluetooth and NFC Connectivity – Pairing is simple and quick, Bluetooth Version 4.1. > Cleans Easily – Sony recommends to clean the earbuds with a mild detergent solution, then thoroughly dry with a clean cloth. > Charging Unit – Using the Micro-USB Cable to a USB port on a computer, laptop, or tablet. A commercially available USB AC adapter capable of feeding in more than 0.5 A (500 mA) can also be used. > Smartphone Digital Assistant – Voice Assist using Google App or I-Phone, Siri. > One Year Warranty. ***Wish It Had:*** > Would have been nice to have a small carrying bag for storage to and from the gym. > The Sony Connect App does not stay ON. You have to switch back to your smartphone screen to turn it back ON each time you want to use it. > A user adjustable Equalizer to allow personal, customization settings instead of the eight Presets. ***Conclusion*** > The sound quality is absolutely amazing for in-ear headphones once you match the correct fitting eartips and earwings for effective, Passive Noise Cancellation. The Active Noise Cancellation is topnotch for sports in-ear headphones. The two channel separation is terrific along with the extra bass. The elongated Hybrid silicone rubber earbuds provide a snug, but comfortable fit in your ear, which is great for physical activities. Along with the earwings they will keep your unit secure during heavy workouts or running. > I highly recommend the purchase of this Sony WI-SP600N, Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones. This would make an outstanding gift for a physically active family member, friend, or loved one. It would also make a great gift to yourself.

I really want to love these, but it was hard to say that they were the best. They have lots of great perks but also a lot holding them back. The box will contain some warranty information, large and small ear hooks (they are almost the same size) and a total of four different size ear buds. The device itself is a cable, two ear pieces and a control on the left side. I like that there is no excess cord and it is just long enough to reach around your head with a little slack to spare. All the controls are on the remote on the left side. The earbuds look pretty cool when wearing them and the curvy design kind of blends into your ears in my opinion. NFC pairing is present to make your Bluetooth pairing experience much easier. The controls are pretty useful once you get the hang of them but I felt they were somewhat poorly designed. The buttons are a small volume rocket on the top of the flat side with a play/pause button at the bottom. The side has a tiny button for ANC settings (on, off and ambient) and the middle has a power button. It just feels strange using these buttons on the side and takes some thinking/getting used to. There are not buttons on the earbuds which is fine but they would probably be a better place for volume controls. There are two things on each headset that look like buttons but if you touch them while music is playing you will hear static, this is where a lot of the tech for the ANC is housed. The ANC itself does a pretty good job and it is very subtle but works well with drowning out gym noise. Ambient mode works very well actually as I have tried headphones that do this but the outside sound is usually artificial sounding and overpowering, this one makes it sound very natural. One large problem I had with the remote location is that it drags on the left side of the headphones resulting it in getting caught when I turned my head or extra weight on one side affecting the fit of the earbuds. Speaking of the earbuds, this is where it will either shine or go poorly for you. When I found a good combination of sizes to fit my ears, it sounded extremely good. There is lots of Sony’s bass in these and it does a great job with the other ranges of audio. Connections were maintained with my phone via the AAC Bluetooth codec which I feel sounds much better than SBC. There is no APTX, APTX HD or LDAC compression here though. But… when I turned my head I consistently had a hard time maintaining a seal on my left ear resulting in audio that just was annoying since I have to push it back in my ear each time. Most of the time it wouldn’t be an issue but it would occur often enough I was annoyed by it. Some uses will not have this issue I am sure since it is all dependent on ear design but I have seen many other companies do better with the fit aspect. Battery life was pretty good with close to the advertised 6 hours which was enough time for a few gym visits. These are very water resistant as well with all ports covered nicely so sweat and rain will be zero issue for most people. So, if I could break it down, 5 stars for appearance, sound quality and ease of use. For fit and practicality, I would give it somewhere between 3 stars for me so I will give the total score of a 4 for these. I like them but don’t love them as much as I had hoped. If they fit your ears right I think most people would rate it a 4 or a 5

The Sony SP600N Sports Wireless headphones are a solid headset that sounds great and looks great too. Fit: They fit snug in my ears and they do not feel like they want to fall out. Sony includes 4 different size ear gels and two sets of ear ‘holders’ that go into the crevice above your ear canal to help secure the devices. I had to play around with the different combinations until I found the right solution for me. Sound: They sound really good once you find your perfect fit. The extra bass is awesome and the treble is clear and I am very happy with the way they sound. Battery: Enough to last through just about any workout for sure and possibly a few. I only had to charge mine back up after about a 5 hour session of constant use and I am happy with that. I did have Noise Cancelling off with that time. They seem to charge back to full in just over and hour and 15 minutes. App: The Sony connect app is pretty good. It’s the same app that you use for the new line of portable BT speakers that Sony has out now. You can fine tune a lot of settings in there and check battery level, Ambience, and Noise cancelling options and of course and EQ function. Device Buttons: Each ear bud only has one button that will do different functions. The left ear bud button toggles between Noise Cancellation/ Ambience sound/ OFF. The Right will Play/Pause, answer phone/ activate your phone’s digital assistant, also, a double press will of the right button will skip forward and a triple press will skip back. Not the best use of the buttons IMO, I wish they would have just added more buttons. Cons: I was not able to find a way to use the ear buds to adjust the volume and skipping back and forward is not great.. I had trouble getting google assistant to do that for me using the Right ear bud button. That is my biggest gripe with these though. Also, NC didn’t seem to have that much effect that I could tell. Verdict: They are pretty good for wireless headphones, they don’t have the greatest battery life, but are good enough for most people. Sound is awesome and call quality is really good as well with the HD feature. NC feature is more of a gimmick on these than anything and ambient sound needs a little work also.
