Great Fit For Workouts, Running – Amazing Sound

Was anxious to receive this complimentary Sony WI-SP600N, Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphone set for evaluation while going through my running and workout paces. And, after two weeks of running and working out, alternately, every other day, I am super-impressed. These are the best ear buds I have ever used to go through the tortures of bouncing up and down while running. They stayed snugly in my ear while delivering crisp, clear, powerful sound. This whole unit, earbuds, earwings, wires and control unit, weighs less then two ounces. It was easy to run and exercise wearing this lightweight unit. I no longer have to deal with a bothersome neckband rubbing against the back of my neck. And, I can use Siri to make my hands free, phone calls too. How cool is that?
***Sound***
> For physically active sports the sound quality is just as important as the snug and reliable fit of these wireless, in-ear headphones. Sony designed this set so I can use 'Noise Canceling' when I activate it, and, or allow Ambient Sound through in two different settings. 'Normal', for safety in an outdoor environment like around auto traffic. And, 'Voice' for gym workouts to hear an instructor or buddy, and, or with a running partner like I do every other day.
> Headphones Connect App – Can be downloaded for Free at the Apple or Google Play Stores. The App allows you to turn ON the Quick Sound Settings, which enables you to set the Ambient Sound Control and Equalizer Presets. The App on your smartphone or device can control switching between the two Ambient Sound Modes, Normal and Voice, and the Noise Canceling mode. The EQ Presets are Bright, Excited, Mellow, Relaxed, Vocal, Treble Boost, Bass Boost, Speech, and OFF. I personally like the Excited Preset because it has the highest bass setting (+8) over Bass Boost (+7), which I prefer for my workouts. Excited features more of the kick drum, deep bass, whereas Bass Boost accentuates the low end of acoustic guitar, piano, and deeper notes of vocalists while providing a punch for robust bass tones. Although you cannot adjust any of the EQ settings you can have FUN using the eight presets according to your musical genre choices. The App also displays what music is playing, battery power, along with your choice of Sound Quality Mode, priority on Sound Quality or Stable Connection. The APP also remembers all of your last settings.
> Noise Cancellation – I found that this is a two step process. First, Passive Noise Cancellation. It is super important to match the appropriate eartip and earwing to fit your ear correctly. I started out using the large sizes, which is the best for me. These eartips are softly cushioned and elongated, which really helped me to get the right fit. Yet, they are still comfortable in my ears. WooHoo! The active Noise Cancellation feature is superior to other sets I have used for sports, in-ear headphones. However, there is no comparison to over-the-ear headphones. It uses the two built-in microphones on the earbuds to sense outside noise and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the unit. The Noise Cancellation feature is engineered to work in the low frequency band. It does reduce the ambient sound, but NOT cancel it out completely. The majority of the time I wear and use these I have the ambient sound to 'Normal' or 'Voice' so I can workout and run with a partner.
> Notification Sounds – This Sony alerts you when the unit is powered ON and OFF. It also lets you know the status of the battery level and Bluetooth Pairing.
***What's In The Box?***
> Sony WI-SP600N Wireless Noise-Canceling In-Ear Sports Headphones.
> Arc Supporters – Two sets, one Medium and one Large.
> Hybrid Eartips – Four sets, Extra Small, Small, Medium, and Large.
> Charge Cable - Micro-USB Cable.
***Other Sony WI-SP600N Features:***
> IPX4 Rating – Can tolerate perspiration, light rain, and splashes. Be aware they are not waterproof. Oddly enough, the Noise Cancellation feature works better for me after a workout or run. I think the perspiration moisture in my ear makes for a better seal with the eartips.
> Battery Life - It takes approximately one and half hours to fully charge, which will last approximately six hours according to Sony. At the volume level I set I got around five hours of continued use. There is a red LED indicator light ON while charging and OFF when fully charged.
> On Board Controls – They are simple and it is an easy learning curve to master. By the third day I was on top of it. However, Sony Connected App is simpler to use.
> Bluetooth and NFC Connectivity – Pairing is simple and quick, Bluetooth Version 4.1.
> Cleans Easily – Sony recommends to clean the earbuds with a mild detergent solution, then thoroughly dry with a clean cloth.
> Charging Unit – Using the Micro-USB Cable to a USB port on a computer, laptop, or tablet. A commercially available USB AC adapter capable of feeding in more than 0.5 A (500 mA) can also be used.
> Smartphone Digital Assistant – Voice Assist using Google App or I-Phone, Siri.
> One Year Warranty.
***Wish It Had:***
> Would have been nice to have a small carrying bag for storage to and from the gym.
> The Sony Connect App does not stay ON. You have to switch back to your smartphone screen to turn it back ON each time you want to use it.
> A user adjustable Equalizer to allow personal, customization settings instead of the eight Presets.
***Conclusion***
> The sound quality is absolutely amazing for in-ear headphones once you match the correct fitting eartips and earwings for effective, Passive Noise Cancellation. The Active Noise Cancellation is topnotch for sports in-ear headphones. The two channel separation is terrific along with the extra bass. The elongated Hybrid silicone rubber earbuds provide a snug, but comfortable fit in your ear, which is great for physical activities. Along with the earwings they will keep your unit secure during heavy workouts or running.
> I highly recommend the purchase of this Sony WI-SP600N, Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones. This would make an outstanding gift for a physically active family member, friend, or loved one. It would also make a great gift to yourself.

I really want to love these, but it was hard to say that they were the best. They have lots of great perks but also a lot holding them back.
The box will contain some warranty information, large and small ear hooks (they are almost the same size) and a total of four different size ear buds. The device itself is a cable, two ear pieces and a control on the left side. I like that there is no excess cord and it is just long enough to reach around your head with a little slack to spare. All the controls are on the remote on the left side. The earbuds look pretty cool when wearing them and the curvy design kind of blends into your ears in my opinion. NFC pairing is present to make your Bluetooth pairing experience much easier.
The controls are pretty useful once you get the hang of them but I felt they were somewhat poorly designed. The buttons are a small volume rocket on the top of the flat side with a play/pause button at the bottom. The side has a tiny button for ANC settings (on, off and ambient) and the middle has a power button. It just feels strange using these buttons on the side and takes some thinking/getting used to. There are not buttons on the earbuds which is fine but they would probably be a better place for volume controls. There are two things on each headset that look like buttons but if you touch them while music is playing you will hear static, this is where a lot of the tech for the ANC is housed. The ANC itself does a pretty good job and it is very subtle but works well with drowning out gym noise. Ambient mode works very well actually as I have tried headphones that do this but the outside sound is usually artificial sounding and overpowering, this one makes it sound very natural. One large problem I had with the remote location is that it drags on the left side of the headphones resulting it in getting caught when I turned my head or extra weight on one side affecting the fit of the earbuds.
Speaking of the earbuds, this is where it will either shine or go poorly for you. When I found a good combination of sizes to fit my ears, it sounded extremely good. There is lots of Sony’s bass in these and it does a great job with the other ranges of audio. Connections were maintained with my phone via the AAC Bluetooth codec which I feel sounds much better than SBC. There is no APTX, APTX HD or LDAC compression here though. But… when I turned my head I consistently had a hard time maintaining a seal on my left ear resulting in audio that just was annoying since I have to push it back in my ear each time. Most of the time it wouldn’t be an issue but it would occur often enough I was annoyed by it. Some uses will not have this issue I am sure since it is all dependent on ear design but I have seen many other companies do better with the fit aspect. Battery life was pretty good with close to the advertised 6 hours which was enough time for a few gym visits. These are very water resistant as well with all ports covered nicely so sweat and rain will be zero issue for most people.
So, if I could break it down, 5 stars for appearance, sound quality and ease of use. For fit and practicality, I would give it somewhere between 3 stars for me so I will give the total score of a 4 for these. I like them but don’t love them as much as I had hoped. If they fit your ears right I think most people would rate it a 4 or a 5

The Sony SP600N Sports Wireless headphones are a solid headset that sounds great and looks great too.
Fit: They fit snug in my ears and they do not feel like they want to fall out. Sony includes 4 different size ear gels and two sets of ear ‘holders’ that go into the crevice above your ear canal to help secure the devices. I had to play around with the different combinations until I found the right solution for me.
Sound: They sound really good once you find your perfect fit. The extra bass is awesome and the treble is clear and I am very happy with the way they sound.
Battery: Enough to last through just about any workout for sure and possibly a few. I only had to charge mine back up after about a 5 hour session of constant use and I am happy with that. I did have Noise Cancelling off with that time. They seem to charge back to full in just over and hour and 15 minutes.
App: The Sony connect app is pretty good. It’s the same app that you use for the new line of portable BT speakers that Sony has out now. You can fine tune a lot of settings in there and check battery level, Ambience, and Noise cancelling options and of course and EQ function.
Device Buttons: Each ear bud only has one button that will do different functions. The left ear bud button toggles between Noise Cancellation/ Ambience sound/ OFF. The Right will Play/Pause, answer phone/ activate your phone’s digital assistant, also, a double press will of the right button will skip forward and a triple press will skip back. Not the best use of the buttons IMO, I wish they would have just added more buttons.
Cons: I was not able to find a way to use the ear buds to adjust the volume and skipping back and forward is not great.. I had trouble getting google assistant to do that for me using the Right ear bud button. That is my biggest gripe with these though. Also, NC didn’t seem to have that much effect that I could tell.
Verdict: They are pretty good for wireless headphones, they don’t have the greatest battery life, but are good enough for most people. Sound is awesome and call quality is really good as well with the HD feature. NC feature is more of a gimmick on these than anything and ambient sound needs a little work also.

---SETUP---
The setup for the SP600N headset was simple but does require that you download the free SONY headphones app from your Android or Apple Store. Following the instructions within the app, I was able to pair up my headset immediately. This pair of headphones doesn’t come with a fully charged battery, so you will have to charge them out of the box prior to an extended period of use.
---FEATURES---
The key feature of this headset (as it’s called on the box) is that it has a noise cancellation mode and an ambient sound mode. The former allows you to reduce most external noise to a certain degree but it doesn’t drown it out completely. The latter allows you to mix in external sounds you may need to hear, like people speaking to you and traffic. The headset also touts 6 hours of use on one charge. One feature it lacks compared to other similar products is that there is no clip that can hold onto your shirt from the back neckline. This would have prevented it from falling off without your knowledge when not in use. They did fall off once when I was driving back home and I didn’t realize it until I had gotten off and was looking for them.
---PERFORMANCE---
The performance of the noise cancellation is great but if you have tried noise cancellation headphones that fully cover your ear, then it’s not to the same degree. What noise cancellation does with this set is it drastically reduces all sounds around you, but you will still hear them in the background if loud enough. At the gym, this is perfect. At a park with traffic, it works moderately ok. The ambient mode purposefully picks up the noise and mixes it in with your audio. I was able to have a conversation with my wife while listening to music exercising around the park. This headset has an IPX4 rating (a scale that goes from IPX 0-8). This means that is is resistant to splashes of water or sweat for at least 5 minutes. Great for exercising but make sure to wipe them when finished. They are not waterproof, so keep that in mind.
---EXPECTATIONS---
The product meets my expectations. If you mess around with the app, you can find a sound that works for you. For example, I listen to mostly podcasts, so there are two settings to take advantage for me, SPEECH or VOCAL. I do listen to Mexican Rock as well as Electro-House, both of which make good use of bass. When you set it to BASS mode within the app, you can hear the extra bass that the box proudly displays. However, for that to work, you need to use the app, as you can’t make that change with just the headset itself.
---VALUE---
The price for the headset in terms of value is very competitive for what it can do.
---APPROVAL---
I highly recommend this product for people who will exercise in both the gym or in the outdoors. The headset is best put to use if you have it in one place consistently, but I don’t recommend you going about your entire day with them around your neck at the risk of them falling off without you noticing. The left side that houses the controls tends to slide down because of the weight.

I have used about 6 different pairs of wireless earbuds over the past couple years and this set ranks near the top.
As always, Sony sound quality did not disappoint. This set features extra bass, which was very impressive. Battery life was fantastic for the small size. They come with a variety of gel inserts to ensure that you get the perfect fit for your ears. I also appreciated the design of the in-line control module that allows you to easily answer phone calls, increase/decrease the volume, or pause the music you are listening to.
What I would have liked to have seen was a case included with this set of earbuds. If you are going to the gym, you don't want to just toss these loosely into your bag and risk damage. Even a cheap faux leather pouch would do the trick. Those of you that really want a case should spend a little more money to get the SP700 model. They are similar in sound quality but are completely wireless and come with a case that charges the earbuds on the go.
Overall, these are great for the price and a solid option for anybody looking for good workout headphones.

Setup is very simple for SONY SP600N headset after downloading SONY Headphones app either from Android or iOS. I was able to pair my iPhone with headset after following instructions. This headset is really a good fit for people who do exercise.
The sound quality is great as you expect from SONY headsets. The vocals are crisp and clear and well balanced. It has noise cancellation mode and ambient sound mode. The battery quality is good as well and it last around 6 hours. It has IPX4 rating for water or sweat resistant and it is not waterproof.
It fits perfectly on ears and there is no discomfort even if you use for a long time. The SONY connect app has lot of great features to view battery life, preset equalizers adjustment, noise cancellation and ambient sound. It is really lightweight headset with Bluetooth 4.1, great battery life, solid design and excellent fit on ears.
SONY SP600N is exceeded my expectations and it is a good product with reasonable price.

Sony’s new SP600N headphones are a total surprise in this line of earbud-based headphones. They are incredibly comfortable in the ear, they are easy to control, they include an active noise cancellation feature, and the sound (especially the bass) is fantastic.
It is a little curious that the control feature for this set is located behind the left ear for a change - the control module looked a little oddly designed but I found it to be the easiest layout for control of any wireless headphone set I have ever used - it is sufficiently intuitive so your fingers just seem to know how to operate things - there is no learning curve.
The individual earpieces fit very naturally in my ears (and of course there are different sized interchangeable tips for people with different sized ears) - and even though they didn’t feel intrusive or unnatural, neither did they ever feel like there were threatening to fall out during exercise. The active noise cancellation features works OK but don’t expect the performance to rival that of over-the-ear headphones (whose padding goes a long way to isolate you from environmental disturbances).
But ultimately, I think it’s the sound that separates these headphones from others of similar design - music sounds full and clear and natural - the bass response was pretty surprising. In general, it’s just hard to find satisfying bluetooth earbuds that approximate the sound you can get with some better quality wired earbuds - but I think these are doing a fine job.

These Sony earbuds are amongst the best I have tested. They come with the headphones, 3 different sized ear tips, a charging cable and instructions. Following my purchase of SONY set of WH-1000XM2 headphones, and finding myself in the market for earbuds after my Beats PowerBeats 2 literally disintegrated, I started doing some research on what was out in the market place after three years of using the Beats. Liking the sound and sound-cancelling capabilities of my SONY headphones, I was leaning toward the SONY brand.
These earbuds don't disappoint. I use them primarily while exercising, so light weight, sweat-resistance, and the ability to stay in my ears is crucial. On those points, these are excellent. What I did find was, that for me, getting the absolute correct fit in my ear was of utmost importance. The silicone earpieces that came with the SONY earbuds actually didn't quite work for me. Once I installed the large silicone adapters from my Beats earbuds, the sound (especially the bass) was perfect. To be honest, the noise-cancelling ability of these earbuds don't hold a candle to the SONY headphones, but it does work well enough in the gym to satisfy me.
The build of these and the wire gauge/flexibility used between each earpiece, is of high quality and I expect they will last longer than my old Beats. I've had them for about a month or so now and I'm very pleased overall. Plus, they were on an introductory sale - great value in their class. One down side - they don't come with a case. Can't figure out why that was left out, but I have my old Beats case that outlived those earbuds, so I'm set.

Sony SP600N Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones deliver incredible bass and are the most comfortable earbuds I own. Here are highlights:
1- Comfortable because of the ear stabilizer (they do not fall out of your ears) and excellent weight balance (they are not heavy where the wire connects, so they do not try to pull out of your ears).
2- Light weight makes all day listening a pleasure.
3- Modern Bluetooth 4.1 provides 30-40 feet of easy connectivity & draws very little power.
4- Long battery life (up to 6 hours with noise reduction activated).
5- Sony Extra Bass features amazing on these earbuds! Simply install the free Sony Headphone App.
6- Highly configurable features let you choose the level of noise reduction (isolation); or do you prefer to blend in ambient sound? Equalization? Extra Bass? Just turn on this free app and the variations to the sound / noise reduction effects you control are stunning.
7- Microphone does double duty. The microphone built into the "pod" on the left side serves as the mic for telephone calls & picks up the sound that you can cancel via the app.
8- Attractive design.
9- Splash & sweat resistant (IPX4).
10- Three different sized ear pieces are included to ensure the perfect fit. Take time to try them all. The seal with your ear canal is critical to the sound quality (especially the bass) & the noise reduction.
CONCLUSION:
You will be hard pressed to find a pair of in-ear headphones (earbuds) that outperform the Sony SP600N in this attractive price range. Especially considering their superlative sound quality & comfort. They earn my Highest Recommendation!

Earbuds are comfortable and stay in while jogging.
Great product for the price.
Good quality sound.
Synced with phone immediately.
Side control is light so it's not banging heavily on your neck.
Like that it says power on/off. Some just beep so you never know.
Waterproof =sweatproof.
Con...cord is to short. It reaches right at my collar so it gets stuck or can pull on cord. If I'm sweating a lot it will stick to my neck
If you have a bigger neck or shoulder span it might not fit right.

Sony's new Noise cancelling, cool concept BUT

So I had the chance at trying out the Sony SP600N Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones. I'm an avid jogger, I enjoy jogging so I'm always on the look out a good set of earphones that won't be too heavy or bounce up and down when you're jogging and trying to focus on your steps or taking time to think about other things going on. I get it, you don't want to be bothered with struggling to fix your earphones every couple of minutes when you're deep into your 5 mile jog.
Opening the box the SP600N looks like any other earphones, Sony's designs are always clean and good looking as well as simple. I've had about 15 sets of earphones in the past 5 years of jogging and the SP600N is simple but compacting the battery, control s and bluetooth module all into one portion of the earphones. Other high end (and I do mean high end, ranging from $150 to $299) sports earphones I've own in the past this keep what you need and leaves out the things you don't. The Main appealing thing about the SP600N is the noise cancelling feature it has, I've also own Sony's top end headphones with noise cancelling and they're amazing on planes. Anyways, back to the SP600N, when jogging you want to just turn on some good music and forget everything, just focus on your breathing or just think about other things going on in your world. This is why the noise cancelling was so appealing to me but when you're jogging the earphones on the SP600N weren't 100% secure. This is due to the fact I used the ear cushions right out of the box. Sony does give you 2 other sets to fit your ear size so you do need to swap them out for the ones appropriate for your ears. The noise cancelling works, you can tell when you turn on and off the feature but I'm not sure if it is effective in a earphone type of listening device. I think noise cancelling is more suited with headphones.
The SP600N are good set of earphones but at it's price point I'm not so sure if I can 100% recommend it.

I've owned several of the so called top end head phones and ear buds. However, I live and work my farm as well as at the local fitness center. Music is my go-to medicine! I bought the Sony SP600N's for wearing while I am operating machines on my farm-loud machines with lots of vibration and shaking. I figured that I'd try these from Best Buy and if they weren't what they were represented as I'd send them back. That said, I absolutely love the SP600N. They are made sturdy. the ear pieces with the various combinations would fit any ear shape or size without allowing the ear phones to fall out. The bass is strong and smooth as they are advertised. The noise canceling system works fantastic even on farm equipment. These ear phones are an excellent bang for your bucks!

I am very well pleased with these wireless headphones. I was torn between these and a pair from Bose. I ultimately chose these because I do enjoy the bass from my music and the Bose didn't provide as much. The ease of use, sound, and fit are all great. I've lifted weights and ran with these and never had an issue with them falling out. The battery is pretty decent and the app is also easy to use. Using these for about 90min/day I can usually get 3-5 days out of a single charge (mostly depending upon how loud I turn them up). Another great function of these is the noise canceling. While it isn't a "complete" noise canceling like you would get from the earmuff style of headphone it does do a decent job.

I really liked having these headphones. The audio was great, the fit was good, and the noise reduction from the outside world was impressive. However, they tend to start to breakdown after a few months. The materials start to stretch and make the fit uncomfortable. The latch for the charging enclosure starts to not fit and if you work out with it the swear resistance becomes non-existant. Last but not least, the cord tends to get damaged quickly, making the microphone non-functional at best.
If the manufacturer can fix the issues with the mal-forming casing, earbuds, and the longevity of the microphone within the cord it would be perfect. Trust me, I got them 3 times because I REALLY liked them.

I've never spent over $10 for headphones, but after my roommate wouldn't quiet down his female guests, I had to do something about it. Works awesome at drowning out unwanted noises. I love the fact that these are also wireless. I can leave my phone on the couch and walk around the house and it remains connected. I don't have a problem with the earbuds falling out and the charge lasts quite a while. Definitely worth the money. I would buy them again if needed for sure.

I'll admit it; I'm a Sony guy. I have MDR-1000x units for travel and I was also using them for training at the gym. However, the downside of using the MDR-1000X for training is that the earpads smell awful and need almost daily cleanings / washings.
That being said, I bought these to replace those headphones for training. The headphones themselves deliver on all of the promises you expect. The standard sound is fantastic, but I like my bass and you can crank it up to however you want to make it shatter in your ear. The noise cancelling allows you to comfortably listen to music while you train at lower volumes to protect your ears. There's zero ear pressure detected when active. The "ambient sound" mode works great. It's not as good as the MDR-1000x series lineup, but it's still very good. The only issue I have is that the battery life is around 5 hours so I find myself charging these daily. The ear plugs fit nice and snug and come in many sizes to fit your ears.
My complaint? The charging hub / control unit is slightly heavy and hangs from the left ear. It has a tendency to get caught on your shirt and begin pulling the ear plug out from the right ear, so I find myself constantly smacking it back behind my head. The controls are easy to use.
All in all, the sound is incredible and despite the meh battery life, it delivers in every regard.
I would recommend this to a friend

I've purchased nothing but Sony listening devices all my life with my favorite being the mdrxb500s. Let's start with the bad. If you are looking for a pair of in ear headphones for vigorous workouts, I cannot cosign these. They do not stay well in my ears and at best, they stood in my ear for vigorous walks but still lost suction in ear and thus lost sound quality. That is my number one gripe with these. Perhaps if the design was considerably lighter, they would be more secure. No matter what size insert I use, the right side will slip out.
Next gripe would be the call quality. It is hit or miss, and I often wind up having to use my phone instead of the mic from being unable to be heard.
The next thing is that sometimes the connection drops, but it seems to do this consistently in certain areas when I'm outdoors. It does this even if the bluetooth connection priority is set to prioritize stability over quality. This doesnt happen too often thankfully.
Lastly, the buttons, particularly the power button especially is too hard and it being the tiny size it is makes it uncomfortable to push and hold to power it on. Not unbearable, but not well designed.
Also must note that you have to choose between having noise canceling options or access to your assistant.
Now on to the good things. The sound quality of these headphones on a scale of F to S with S being best are about a B. As promised, there is plenty of bass, but it can be muddy at times. The volume of these at max when your device is equalized for bass is not going to please those who like loud music as at max volume, it is loud enough to zone out everything else, but not loud enough to check your eardrums. Still, this is probably it's largest strength if you generally like bass.
I do like the Sony app that comes with it. It does offer some extra leverage for the sound quality.
Not much to say about the noise cancelling options as I seldom change them. Noise canceling is average as one would expect, and ambient sound mode is actually more useful.
Overall, it would seem that the reason 1/3 of the retail price is cut out is because these really cant deliver the promise of being used effectively for an active lifestyle. At best, would only recommend if you want the Sony build quality as it should last. There are better options, even for it's discounted price. Do not recommend.
