This external HD was bought to replace an older external HD that finally gave up the ghost. It was purchased to work with Time Machine on my iMac and has performed seamlessly (and more quietly!) since it was installed. As it is specifically designed and formatted to work with Mac operating systems, installation was a breeze without the necessity of installing the included software.

It works. I bought this because it was on sale. Otherwise, there is no need to spend more for the MAC version. You can just format it yourself.
