Best Carafe-less Coffee Maker around.
Posted by: SupremeBamaFan from: on
I am a long-term Brewstation alumni, owning 3 before this one. They were and still are the best carafe-less coffee maker on the market and are very competitive in price.
Coffee Quality: Brewstation brew at the right temperature, the Bold setting allows plenty of contact with the beans, the hot plate doesn't burn the coffee when warming, and the coffee tastes good for hours.
New Feature: Hamilton Beach could never build a water container that would not spill when transferring water from the sink to the pot, the new water chamber is a welcome feature. The Bold setting definitely changes the flavor of the coffee to a bolder taste, though regular is fine also.
Competition: Cuisinart is the only real competition for Brewstations, but their reviews are bad and they are 2x as expensive. I would love Hamilton Beach to build these as metal, substantial appliances ... I'd buy that, but this is a no brain purchase if you wan't 12 cups of coffee and no glass.
The sole weakness: I have now replaced 3 Brewstations for an upgrade. Each time the Brewstation was still working as a machine, but failed due to a $.50 piece in the coffee chamber (rubber gasket and/or filter screen). You cannot repair these things (they are permanent), so leaks or clogged screen are terminal. My Brewstations last 3 years or so.
Enjoy, you can't go wrong.

love these Hamilton Beach coffee makers
Posted by: MDC05 from: Wooster, Ohio on
This is our third Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker. We love the no carafe design. The old one was working fine, but slow, and we had let it get pretty gunked up, so decided that at the $40 price we could make the purchase of a new one. We especially like the container that you fill with water and then just "plug" in to the unit. That was my only complaint on the old model - too many spills and a narrow slot to pour water in. The new coffee maker has solved this problem and still has the other features we loved on the old one.

quality not as good as previous brewstations
Posted by: lahome from: lake charles, la on
We replaced our old brewstation with this unit after waiting months for it to become available. We were excited when it finally arrived. However, we are EXTREMELY disappointed and dissatisfied in this model, and are returning it for the following reasons: 1) Coffee taste is very weak, and a little bitter - even on the bold setting. We made it exactly as we have done with our previous brewstation, then tried adding more coffee (6 coffee measure scoops -the limit according to the instructions), and it's still weak. But it's not just weakness, the coffee does not have the same full flavor as before. That's probably due to the basket having multiple (way too many) holes, thereby not allowing water to sit long enough on the grounds. I can't understand the purpose of so many holes. I've never seen another coffee basket made like this. Also, the basket doesn't have lift up handle which makes removing it when it's hot difficult. 2) The dispenser is much more difficult to operate than on our previous brewstation, which has an identical looking dispenser. You have to push the cup against it just right or the coffee either doesn't come out or doesn't come out full force. Also, the depth of dispenser makes it more difficult to see the coffee going into the cup. This may be something I could get use to, but bad coffee flavor isn't. 3) Brewing noise is continuous - doesn't stop until the maker is turned off. The only improvement over our previous model is the removable water tank - which is why we bought this model. That is a great idea. But that is not enough of a reason to put up with inferior quality elsewhere. We will be returning to our previous model. On a positive note - I am very pleased that I can return this item to our Best Buy store and not have to mail it back.

Great 12 cup coffee maker
Posted by: BigDvr from: York,SC on
this is my second one. The first one we had to fill the back of the maker with water. This one has a removable tank to put under the faucet. We just love it. Can keep coffee warm for 4 hours!

THIS IS A GREAT COFFEE POT- I BOUGHT THE EARLIER VERSION AND USED IT TIL I BROKE THE HINGE OFF THE LID- I WAS REALLY GLAD TO SEE THERE WAS A NEWER VERSION THAT IS MORE DURABLE AND EVEN EASIER TO USE THAN THE OLD VERSION. NO MORE POTS TO LIFT OUT AND POUR- JUST PLACE YOUR CUP OR LARGE TUMBLER AND AS EASY AS 1-2-3 COFFEE IS IN IT WITHOUT ANY MESS!!

Great coffee maker, nice to get cup without drips

Last brew station the water had to be carefully poured in, this one has a side compartment. Well engineered unit. Easy to set up, options for 1-4 hours on time, programming easy. Best part is that you don't have to wait for the brewing to stop to get coffee. Wish it had a larger capacity. 12 cups capacity is closer to 7 or 8. Capacity is not true 12 8 oz cups. Looks great sitting on our counter and makes great coffee. Got on sale at BB with free shipping. Best price on internet. Highly recommend this unit if you want straight forward easy to use coffee maker without the fuss of a "pot".

Easy to fill the water container; easy to fill your cup with no glass carafe to break; keeps coffee hot (you can program it to stay warm up to 4 hours).
We love it soooo much we bought a second one to have as a backup just in case something happens to it. Usually when I find a product I love and I have to replace it, it' slither been modified or discontinued. Didn't want to risk that with this great coffee pot!

revised model coffee maker
Posted by: JohneGadget from: Spring Hill, TN on
After each brewing cycle, I have it on the warming cycle for 2 hours. During this time, it sounds like it's boiling my coffee and it persists the whole 2 hour cycle. I contacted the Hamilton Beach company customer service and was told that it's due too the two plates meshing so closely together. They told me to take a tablespoon and rap it on the plate of the coffee holder. The only thing I can take out of this, is, I'm mushrooming the metal plate. IF YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE, WHY DOESN'T THE MANUFACTURE TAKE CARE OF THIS ??????? Doesn't make since that you wait for a customer too complain so you can give them this kind of remidy. NOT RIGHT !

Good for one handed dispensing.

Easy to use. I really like the water reservoir, not too many things to take apart early in the morning. Makes good coffee for price. I mainly bought it for the dispenser, great for grabbing a cup out the door.

What an upgrade!

This is a great upgrade to our new kitchen. Looks clean and upscale on our granite coffee bar. Self serve with no glass coffee carafe to chip, break or clean! We love it.
