For proof, listen to this CD edition of John Denver's Rocky Mountain Christmas. Every aspect of this remastered holiday classic shines brighter. Denver's voice emerges with even greater clarity and depth of emotion. The arrangements enchant with their direct simplicity. On "Jingle Bells," the album's best track, Denver delivers this normally up-beat tune in a tempo that is slow and bluesy. His take produces a deep sense of wistfulness. The melancholy tone in his voice shows him to be a man who knows that while every Christmas can't be merry, its memories can always warm your heart.
