However, their tracking method depends on the distance from your device. When you are nearby, the tag uses Bluetooth Low Energy and connects directly to your phone. It boasts a maximum line-of-sight range of about 120 meters. If you have a compatible Ultra-Wideband Galaxy phone, you can use AR Compass to pinpoint its exact location to the centimeter. If the tag goes beyond Bluetooth range, it relies on the SmartThings Find Network. The tag securely and anonymously uses the Bluetooth signals of other passing Galaxy devices to relay its location back to your map. This means you can track a lost item across a city, state, or even overseas. Update speeds will depend on how many Galaxy users are in the immediate vicinity.
