The IXS12.2D is a 12" car subwoofer from the DS18 IXS series. It handles 800 watts RMS and uses dual voice coils at 2 ohms per coil, so you can wire multiple subwoofers to the final impedance your amplifier is stable at. Peak power handling is 1600 watts. The cone is fiber glass. The shallow-mount basket fits tight spaces and under-seat enclosures where a standard-depth subwoofer will not clear. Mounting requires a 10.79" cutout diameter and 4.33" of mounting depth, so confirm your enclosure before installing. Pair it with a matching monoblock amplifier and a properly tuned enclosure to get the most low-frequency output.
Rated at 800 watts RMS and 1600 watts peak. Behind that rating: 2.5" voice coil on an aluminum former wound with Copper wire and a 62 oz ferrite motor. That is what lets a 12" cone move this much air without losing control.
Dual voice coils let you wire multiple subwoofers in series or parallel to reach the final impedance your amplifier is stable at, which gives you room to grow the system later.
The fiber glass cone stays rigid at high excursion while resisting fatigue over time, so the driver keeps its shape and output under sustained high power.
This 12" subwoofer requires a 10.79" cutout diameter and 4.33" of mounting depth. DS18 recommends a sealed enclosure of 1 cu ft. Check these numbers against your enclosure before ordering: enclosure volume and tuning change the low-frequency response as much as the driver does.
The shallow mount basket fits under seats, behind seats and in tight factory locations where a standard depth 12" subwoofer will not clear. Confirm your available mounting depth before ordering.
