The ZXI8.2D is an 8" car subwoofer from the DS18 ZXI series. It handles 600 watts RMS and uses dual voice coils at 2 ohms per coil, so you can wire multiple subwoofers to the final impedance your amplifier is stable at. Peak power handling is 1200 watts. The high-excursion motor and suspension let the cone travel farther for deeper low-frequency output. The motor uses a quad stacked magnet assembly. Mounting requires a 7.31" cutout diameter and 5.51" of mounting depth, so confirm your enclosure before installing. Pair it with a matching monoblock amplifier and a properly tuned enclosure to get the most low-frequency output.
Rated at 600 watts RMS and 1200 watts peak. Behind that rating: 2" voice coil on a black aluminum former wound with CCAW wire and a 104 oz ferrite motor. That is what lets an 8" cone move this much air without losing control.
Dual voice coils let you wire multiple subwoofers in series or parallel to reach the final impedance your amplifier is stable at, which gives you room to grow the system later.
The high-excursion motor and suspension allow the cone to travel farther than a conventional subwoofer, which moves more air and produces the low frequencies you feel rather than just hear. Give it a properly tuned sealed or ported enclosure to take advantage of it.
This 8" subwoofer requires a 7.31" cutout diameter and 5.51" of mounting depth. DS18 recommends a sealed enclosure of 0.6 cu ft and a ported enclosure of 1 cu ft tuned to 35Hz. Check these numbers against your enclosure before ordering: enclosure volume and tuning change the low-frequency response as much as the driver does.
A quad stacked magnet assembly increases motor force, which improves cone control at high power and helps the subwoofer stay accurate instead of getting loose and boomy when driven hard.
