TLDR: Can't read license plates unless within crashing distance. Great features but lacks in video quality. Garmin Dash Cam 57 is easy to use and install, but its recording quality is honestly poor compared to others in the $230+ price range. It's hard to read license plates unless they are about 10 feet away from the camera, or if vehicles are just parked and I'm driving slow. Timelapses (travelapses) can be grainy, just like the footage. If you prioritize high quality recordings, this Garmin Dash Cam 57's 3.7 megapixel sensor falls short in providing the clarity you're probably expecting; however, the GPS works spot on, voice activation is amazing, and warnings like "moving traffic" helps when I'm looking elsewhere. If you have an autodimming rear view mirror, consider getting an adapter to minimize wire installation. I used a Dongar 7-pin adapter for my Honda, which minimized installation to simply plug and play. I'm going to still keep this because it is convenient and low profile, but I'm honestly not that happy with the footage it captures. I kept the 57 instead of the Mini 2 because the size difference was barely noticeable. The LCD screen just makes life a lot easier when dealing with this dash cam.

Great dash cam with some amazing footage and very easy to use.

This might be a five star. Performance is as expected. Does take good quality videos and pictures to supplement with vacation files.

I've had this dash cam for over a month. I like it. The video is clear. If I hit a pothole (an incident), it automatically saves a clip, which is nice. The auto save videos are short, but the full video is still available to be saved offline if needed. It also alerts when speed/red light cameras are coming up. The app is ok, but I don't use it often since you have to be with the camera in order for the app to connect to the camera. There are a few features I would change/upgrade, but nothing that is a deal breaker. Overall, I would recommend this model and would purchase it again.

These Garmin dash cams are Damm near perfect. They are super easy to install, for being compact they provide great quality videos, their size makes them discreet and since they mount via strong magnet they are easy to take down but will never fall off.

Very handy. The video is very clear even at night. Easy accesssibility, can connect to phone, you can save the video in one click. You can also buy an OBD II connector for constant power .

Good features, controllable via the app. Came with two magnets and cables too, so we can move the camera between two cars.

It’s a very nice dash cam. But the app needs some help. I have a 2021 f150 with sync 4 which has wireless connectivity to Apple CarPlay, and I ultimately discovered that I need to disconnect from that to stay connected to the camera when exporting videos. Otherwise, it constantly loses its connection and then needs to repair and set up again… it’s a hassle. Also, I recommend the constant power adapter that plugs into you OBD2 port. That way, you can utilize the parking guard feature more often.

I am delighted with the Garmin Dash Cam 57. It is tiny and inconspicuous. I had the Best Buy Tech Dept install the camera on my front windshield. They did an excellent job, and they were fast.

I now have 2 Dash Cam 57's and one 46. All three work great, prefer the 57 over the 46. Like the Drive app, only I could not get it to work and found out I had to Disable VPN and Ad Blockers on my android phone. The app worked after that.

Good dashcam although the warning alerts are pretty sensitive. Would purchase again but would prefer a dashcam that wasn't overly loud (a lot of false positive alerts)

It is really small and does not block your view. The screen is a bit too small to actually view them, but easy to download and view them in your smart phone.

Product is good. Best Buy installation service was horrific. The young boy was extremely rude both to my wife and me. I couldn’t believe some of the remarks he was making right in front of us. I had an appointment confirmation on my phone and his exact words were “well I don’t know how you got an appointment but we’re booked for today”. “When the other guy gets here he can do it if he wants but I’m not doing it” When the other gentleman got in to work he said he would do it and he did. Very quickly and very respectfully.

So far so good. I purchased the dash cam for my sons vehicle in case he is involved in any accidents. From what i can tell it is a good camera but the camera itself is small. Initially had issuses with trying to get the camera to update the software but eventually we got it to connect and update.

Camera works very well and is small and unobtrusive. The instructions could be better.

I bought two of theee cameras but very disappointed when the devide firmware has any update you need to reset the device and the information from the app also when you call the camera “ok garmin” many times do not respond even when I yelling “OK GARMIN”. When tried to see any video to watch any plate number it’s hard to see! Very blurry

I recommend it. It’s very important to choose good camera and this one it is. It recorded all details and protects your right. I like it.

Great dash cam for my vehicle. I especially like the "minimalist" form factor instead of other bulky profiles I’ve seen.

In this day and age, it's a must have. Works pretty good.

Had it for about a year and my only complaint is 2 occasions so far it froze and failed to record in that time frame, wasn’t until I restarted it that it began again
