Are live traffic updates really live or delayed somewhat? Comparable to updates on a smart phone?

It can even confirm whether or not you are on the fastest route. When in a coverage area the device will alert about slow traffic ahead, accident ahead, construction ahead, etc. The traffic information is refreshed every 5 minutes.
This unit has a speed camera detector. In Virginia where I live operating a device that detects a speed-detecting camera or radar is illegal. Is there some way way to turn off or disable the detection device?

does this unit hve the audio that tell you when and where to turn like the nuvi 2555lmt does? can you still get the 2555lmt or is it discontinued? if it is gone which nuve takes its place, love my 2555.
