Honestly, installation was not terribly difficult because I have installed a non-smart thermostat in the past on a different floor of our home. With that said, it can be challenging to determine the type of HVAC system that operates in your home unless you know your builder or got the details disclosed by previous owner. Once you have that part sorted out and you know how to identify devices connected to your WiFi router, it works great. I would give 4.5/5 stars if that was possible due to a functional yet fairly basic app experience and no instructions on how to determine the type of system you are operating in your home through a guide. Our’s is now connected to Alexa and it’s cool to talk and change our thermostat.

We bought this to have control of our HVAC system when we are away from our weekend lake house. Works great to adjust the temperature to a comfortable setting a couple of hours before we arrive. The app is very clear and easy to control. It also provides a 5 day forecast for your location.

Replaced my very basic Honeywell thermostat with this unit after it got messed up when I lost power during a storm. It was a very easy install just have to make sure you have the C wire I think it is in order for the wifi to work. I love the wifi feature. Definitely would recommend this thermostat

We love the ability to change the climate in the house remotely. Very easy to install - I even did it. Need to make sure there are 5 wires available and connected to the furnace.

Check to see if you have a “C” wire behind your current thermostat before purchasing. If not, be prepared to spend another $30 to get a C Wire Power adaptor which requires rewiring the thermostat wiring in your furnace. It’s not rocket science but you need to be comfortable doing this. Once installed, worked well with WiFi access just as advertised!

I love how easy the app works and it can even synch to Alexa to adjust the temp. I'm a lady and I installed my new thermostat in about 30 mins. Such an easy install with simple directions. Great value.

I looked at all the options for Wifi Thermostats and settled on this one - it replaced a conventional Honeywell Thermostat that looked just like this one. I did have to change the base , but the wiring matched what I took out. So that part was simple. The Thermostat can be used on a number of heating and cooling systems. (I have an electric heat pump) - This unit comes from the factory preset to work with a conventional AC unit. So when I first turned the unit on - nothing worked (panic, frustration, and dreams of scathing reviews did course through my veins) then I read the instruction manual (Yes mam, I probably should have read those first - but Im a guy and all guys are born with truth that instructions are just another man's opinion on how to get the job done).... Once I read the instructions - It was a simple as changing the presets to work with my system - and bam. This works great with Alexa via a Samsung Smart Hub. I keep the standalone app on my phone as well because it gives me feedback of the inside temp of my house (at least at where the thermosat is)

Easy install, although I researched installation prior to purchase, and already knew what was what as far as wires go. But the directions were clear and concise. I already had a 'C' wire, (blue), plus the standard jumper'd R/Rc - (red), Y - (yellow), G - (green) & O/B - (orange). Heat Pump w/Gas backup. Straight forward swap out the wires. Only problem I had was the O/B wire in the settings. So I just set it to one setting, didn't work, set it to the other setting, works like a dream. My old Honeywell thermostat has outdoor sensors wiring, which I have, and this one does not support that. [Locks out the compressor if temps are below a set degree, and only uses the back-up gas.] But not too important for my location, fairly temperate where I live. Now the big PROBLEM, I put the app on my phone and went up and down the street and yard to see how I can control it from my phone. Too much fun, just be careful not to turn it on and off to quickly, compressor needs 5 min's to settle down. Nothing wrong with this unit, but seeing what it does for this price point, I may upgrade to a higher dollar unit. One that does all that my old thermostat did, plus. Honeywell rocks.

Have used a different Honeywell wi-fi model at our previous home and this interface is a little different, but simple. The mapping of the wires for connection to power and other controls was very simple. The unit was smaller than the previous non wi-fi thermostat so new holes were drilled to mount the new unit - easy. Once connected however, cooling never occurred. The outside unit was running and the inside unit also, but just warm air was circulating. I disassembled and put in the original unit again and it worked fine. Then back to the new wi-fi unit and no cooling again. After waiting over 30 minutes on hold for tech support, I reached a very competent agent who provided some back door command sequences to alert the thermostat of our heat pump. Once those non-documented commands were entered, the cooling worked great. The total control app interface is easy to use and allows you to remotely change your settings for heat/cool mode, temperature and simple fan control of auto/on. You can change temperatures for different days and times per day, or just have the temp set to hold the same temp for all days. There is no circulate setting for the fan. Overall this works great once the settings are confirmed.

Purchased to upgrade from previous older, non-wifi thermostat... husband installed without a lot of challenges and set up was easy.... hold temperature well and easy to use. It is not a fancy model which works well for us. Software interface is good and easy to follow and monitor. Rebate from utility company too! Good buy!

I bought this for a vacation condo in the desert. It was easy to install and works great. When we are not there, we keep the temp set to 90 and the drive to the condo is around 2 hours. I set it to 72 when we leave and the condo is comfortable when we arrive. As a bonus, we get an incentive from the electric company!

Converted over from older unit to control both heater and AC unit. Unit works without wifi, programming is repetitive. Using wifi and accompanying google app is a lot easier/quicker. Programming permits 4 time/temp changes per day. Each day can be different. Been running for 1 month without issue.
