Best Buy delivered two sets of defective LG washer dryers (deemed defective by Best Buy) and they withheld $485.96 from me after taking all appliances/accessories. Not to mention my home is damaged throughout. My brain hurts trying to scroll through photos to attach to this ridiculous review. They have escalated this issue more than 10 times to who knows where, and I am still on hold. Going on 3 hours now. Best Buy will take money from you and refund you in the form of gift cards. I am on the receiving end of a manager making noise about how i should not be telling them ‘how to do their job.’ I have never been met with such stupidity and fraudulent conduct. I paid $1,831.94 for the first round, received $1,601.95 as refund. Then i purchased another round for $1,695.95 and received $1,439.98 as refund. Math is clear as day, and every time it is just escalating this to there and mam, what did you do with the gift cards issued…nothing, absolutely nothing Best Buy. If you check your records, then those gift cards remain unused. It has been 2 months, and Best Buy is still holding onto $485.96. And now this manager must be going on lunch, they hung up on me.

Dryer lint filter design is defective. Lint goes outside the filter on both sides and accumulates in the bottom of the filter opening. error message of blocked vent d80 appears after nearly every load. Photos show lint manually pulled out after just one load, and lint on either side of filter. I contacted LG, but they won't accept a complaint unless I pay for a duct cleaning and present a paid receipt. No problem with the duct. Problem is the machine.

Hi, Maxine. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your concern about the lint filter issue on your LG Dryer (DLE8400WE) model and the recurring "blocked vent" error. We really want to make sure our products meet your needs and expectations.
It seems like the lint filter design might not be catching all the lint, which could be causing it to build up in places it shouldn't. To start, we suggest checking that the lint filter is seated properly and cleaned out before each load. If you're still having trouble, take a look around the filter area to see if there's any extra lint blocking airflow. You can find more information at https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-error-code-list--20152310891742.
Since this looks like it might be an internal issue with the machine rather than the duct, we’d love to help you out further! Just send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport with some photos of the lint buildup and any other details you can share, and our team will be here to help you sort this out.
We're dedicated to making sure your dryer works just right for you. ^Juvy

Dryer was installed 9/10/22. It is now Jan 2024 only 16 months later and the dryer is basically garbage. Dryer drum cracked at the weld seam and is tearing clothes and is not usable due to it now being a fire hazard. Drum is still in the 3 year drum warranty but service shops want to charge close to $500 for the repair. Not worth it so time to purchase another. Of course LG is the highest rated dryer so will be purchasing an extended warranty on the next one. So disappointed

Customer Service was terrible. The item was terrible and made noises and was brand new. Had to be returned to store when given the chance to make it up to me because Customer Service was absolutely zero I will not buy anything from Best Buy. I went to Lowe’s and got a great deal on a washer and dryer and I’m very happy with it and the customer service was great. It’s unfortunate but Best Buy is not the best place to shop the way I was treated. I will not step foot in the store again. I was threatened with the police to be called only for asking where the replacement items were and why they didn’t show up in the window. They provided to me by a guy named Alex.

Hi, Dusty. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a smooth process when purchasing and using your LG Dryer (DLE8400WE) model. To resolve the noise issues you faced with your unit, we suggest this check for future reference: Ensure the dryer is perfectly level and that all four leveling feet are in firm contact with the floor. Additionally, check that the shipping bolts (if applicable) and all internal packaging materials were completely removed, as these can cause significant vibration and thumping noises during operation. I bought the set end of February and the filter cartridge has been broken for about a month now in the dryer. Best Buy and LG seem to not know who should repair it or get my address correct even though three purchases before this have managed to make it to my new address but the techs are being sent to an old address. I’m so over this whole mess!

Hi, Sylvia. Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand the importance of having a functional dryer and receiving a seamless service experience. To ensure your dryer runs safely while awaiting a replacement part, keep the lint filter area free of debris that may have bypassed the broken cartridge. Use a vacuum hose attachment to clean the internal housing of the filter. Operating the dryer with a faulty filter can cause lint buildup in the vent duct, so it’s advisable to check the exterior vent hood for proper airflow. I would definitely NOT recommend this dryer DLE8400WE to anyone. The only drying option that you can adjust the temperature is quick dry, this is not acceptable. I don't agree with the default temperature settings with the different drying options. Sometimes I have to clean the lint filter twice in one drying cycle. The wash is never dry on the first try. The lint filter does clean easily and the capacity is great. Very frustrated with this dryer. The comparable LG washer is OK as you can adjust the temperatures.

Hi, Frank. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the LG Dryer (DLE8400WE) model. We understand how important flexibility and performance are when it comes to drying your laundry efficiently. This model was designed with preset drying cycles to optimize fabric care and energy usage, which is why temperature adjustments are limited on certain cycles. However, for more control, we suggest using the “Manual Dry” cycles like Timed Dry or Quick Dry, where you can manually select your preferred temperature level—this is especially useful for items needing more specific heat settings.
If clothes are not drying fully on the first attempt, we recommend reducing load size, ensuring the exhaust duct is clear of buildup, and selecting a higher dryness level (such as “More Dry”) if not already doing so. Also, having to clean the lint filter more than once per cycle can sometimes indicate airflow restriction in the venting, so a quick inspection of the full duct system may improve overall drying performance. Purchased and had the dryer delivered in Jan 2025. June 2025, yes less than 6 months, the dryer started to make a grinding noise and had a horrible odor. Contacted LG for warranty service. On the date of the service, the tech contracted me 4 hours before my appointment asking if he could come now. I informed the technician I was unavailable until about a hour before the scheduled time frame. The technician never came and didn't answer phone calls or text. When I contacted LG, they gave me the run around. I would highly recommended you consider a different dryer and especially company. I have multiple (9) LG products in my house. LG will not get a tenth product.

Hello there, Morris. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your inquiry regarding the grinding noise and odor you're encountering with your DLE8400WE dryer, and your feedback about the service experience. This is not the typical performance or service we aim for.
A grinding noise in a dryer can sometimes be caused by issues with the drum rollers, idler pulley, or drive belt. An odor can sometimes be related to lint buildup in the exhaust vent or around the heating element. As a first step, we recommend checking your lint filter and cleaning it thoroughly. Also, ensure your dryer's exhaust vent is clear and not obstructed.

Ive had this dryer for close to a year now and it is terrible. The sensor always thinks my clothes is dry so it turns it off after 10 or 15 minutes. So when I go check on the laundry load it is still soaking wet! I end up drying it 3 to 4 times on the timed dry setting and it is still doing the same thing. Dont waste your money on the sensor dry products, opt for something cheaper that doesnt have aol this extra nonsense!

This dryer is pretty to look at but it is awful at drying! I continue to get error messages about my vent needing to be cleaned and it stops drying. My vents are clean as a whistle as confirmed by the dryer vent company more than once. Super disappointing and frustrating! If you want your items to dry without having to continually walk in and turn the dryer back on, DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!

Hi, Chris. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We value your feedback and want to help make things better.
We understand how important it is for your LG Dryer (DLE8400BE) model to perform reliably. If you keep getting “Check Vent” alerts after cleaning the vents, check the internal lint filter and ensure the ductwork is rigid or semi-rigid metal. Flexible foil or plastic ducts may restrict airflow and activate the sensor, even if external vents are clear. Additionally, ensure the dryer has minimal bends in the duct path for better performance. For more information, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di3tBysybNk. This dryer gave me problems within 1 month of purchase. I just had my vents cleaned 2 months prior and I kept getting an error, stating the dryer's vents were clogged/dirty. I tried to call customer service and they kept insisting it was the vent or lint trap. I was also having problems with the matching washer, so I was more focused on that when I called customer service. After 1 year the dryer lint trap screen broke. This is probably due to the poor design of having to open and close the screen (it folds open). This could cause the dryer vents to get clogged quickly and cause a potential fire hazard. Just based on the customer service I had with this dryer and matching washer, I would recommend skipping this model and probably LG altogether.

3 different dryers were delivered. First two times the drum made ominous metal on metal sounds. The third one they left makes a rhythmic sandpaper noise as the drum rotates. It's definitely louder than my older LG dryer (wish I had kept it, but was under the impression that this model would be an upgrade- it's not). But since this model is no longer in their inventory, I am told this is as good as it gets. Throw in the absolute debacle of BestBuy's horrendous process of customer service resolution and accountability, missing days from work for scheduled deliveries that didn't happen, having to drive to the store to get information about the situation, or waiting for promises for calls back that never occurred, repeated false info from their call center, missing personal time, and overall disappointing product in the end- it simply wasn't worth it. Just don't.

I will never buy another LG appliance in my life time. After a 1yr & 1 month the dryer stopped working. I paid $865.99 for the dryer, unfortunately I didn’t purchase the warranty from Best Buy nor LG. The sensor keeps sounding off telling me to change the filter and will not stop until I unplug it. LG told me that Best Buy installed the wrong vent hose, Best Buy came out & changed it to a Rigid vent hose & it’s still not working. I’m getting the run around from LG, the last person I spoke with today said that it could take over 30 days before a 3rd party could fix it or LG replace it. DON’T WAIST YOUR MONEY

Not happy with this dryer. Shortly after purchasing the dryer it now makes a terrible buzzing noise when it’s first started (after being cold) every time we use it. Had service tech come out was told it’s just something we have to live with which in my option is not right. For what we paid this dryer should not be making this noise and most likely it will break soon due to the noise it’s making I’m sure. Of course we are out of our exchange window too. I’ve purchased many major appliances from Best Buy and it’s a bummer that we have to “live” with a dryer that clearly has an issue!

Bought this less than a year ago, and it worked beautifully, until one of its chips failed. LG promptly sent a technician, who said the part was on backorder. LG’s customer service is terrible—I’ve just learned this now—and their draconian policies mean that I may have to wait 30+ days before they can sort out a solution. This is because it is under manufacturer’s warranty, and the additional Geek Squad support cannot be used. What an awful limbo to be stuck in. Buyer beware of anything from LG. Terrible customer service, no way to speak with an empowered manager. Look elsewhere for more reliable products and service

We are exactly 1 day past our 1 year warrenty and the door believes it's not closed when it is. We have to hold the door shut to get the dryer to start. Then it stops mid run after 2-10 min thinknig the door is open. Amazing how this issue happens the day after our warrnety expires and they want to charge us $401 for a technician to come out to try and fix it. Unbelievable. The same thing happened with our LG Fridge, luckily we got a technician out the day before the warrenty expired. I am extremely dissapointed.

I bought the washer and dryer to match. You can see my review on how much I disliked the washer. Things from the washer came out so deeply wrinkled. My hope was that the dryer would be able to tackle those wrinkles. Not only did the clothes stay super wrinkled even if I shook them out before putting them in, but anything with a string (hoody, sweat pants, etc) or long pants tied into an insane, knotted ball of clothing. With a family of four, I have done laundry pretty much every day of my life for the last 20 years, and have never had an experience like this with a previous washer dryer. Returned it and the difference husband night and day!
