Bad Buy!! Only had the dryer about a month & only been using a couple weeks (just moved in). All of the metal burned off the back vent & smells like fire!!! Dries fast & I like that the door can open 2 ways (why I purchased in the first place) Since there is only a 2 week return window for whatever reason I am stuck with this fire hazard of a dryer…

We apologize for the concern you're experiencing with your LG electric dryer. If you're noticing a burning smell, it's essential to address the issue promptly for safety reasons. As a simple troubleshooting step based on available LG resources, please make sure the dryer's lint filter and exhaust vent are clean and free from any obstructions. Additionally, check if the dryer is properly installed with the appropriate clearance and ventilation. First let me say that I generally really like LG appliances. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would not purchase this dryer. It’s one thing after another with it. The hose initially wouldn’t stay connected at the dryer opening, it has an extremely short vent area for connecting a standard hose and collar. My installer knew this and thought he could circumvent the hose disconnecting by trying to push the dryer as close to the wall as possible in an attempt to wedge the hose in place between the dryer and the wall. I got numerous air flow errors. Small loads are often still damp to some extent at the completion of a cycle and I’ve learned that I have to time dry those because the dryness sensors just aren’t able to properly do their job. It’s been a pain.

Hi, there. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Dryer (DLE8400WE) model. We value your loyalty to LG appliances and recognize the importance of reliable performance.
For airflow errors, ensure the vent hose isn’t kinked or crushed, and that the exhaust duct is under 29 feet with few elbows to maintain airflow and sensor accuracy. For small loads, try the Manual Dry (Time Dry) setting, and clean the moisture sensors inside the drum with a soft cloth and white vinegar to improve responsiveness. You can find more setup and care tips here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-DLE8400WE.AEWEEUS. I despise the lint trap. Our clothes never dry the first time. The lint trap says it needs cleaned after 10 loads with water, but I’d say every 2 loads. The lint trap still lets lint fall to the bottom and to clean the bottom, you have to take off the spring attachment that says “replace filter before drying” and it broke the first time

Hi, Cosm. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Dryer (DLE7400VE) model. We understand the importance of having a lint filter that works smoothly and supports proper drying performance.
For this model, one helpful step you can try is removing the lint filter and rinsing it under warm water, even if it appears clean. Fabric softeners and dryer sheets can create an invisible film that restricts airflow, which can lead to longer dry times and more frequent cleaning alerts. After rinsing, make sure the filter is fully dry before placing it back in the dryer. For more guidance, visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-why-is-my-dryer-not-heating-not-drying-or-taking-a-long-time-drying--1432223739634. Since you mentioned the spring attachment breaking, we’d like to take a closer look at that as well. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. LG model # DLE8400BE - 7.3 cu. ft. Rear Control Electric Dryer with Built-In Intelligence. We took delivery of the dryer in December 2024. The lint trap is plastic and open and closes. As such it will eventually break. It should have hinges are another type of open and close design. This does not trap lint any better than the LG model we purchased 12 years ago. The top of the dryer is slopped so you cannot place folded laundry or anything else on the dryer as it will slide off. The drying time overall lasts 10 to 15 minutes too long (even when set on medium for dryness). The light stays on when the dryer door closes. This is not useful and is an energy waist.

Hi, Paul. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Dryer (DLE8400BE) model. We appreciate your thoughtful feedback and understand how important design and efficiency are when choosing a new appliance.
For the drying time, we recommend checking the Energy Saver setting and ensuring the Sensor Dry feature is active. These options help optimize drying based on moisture levels and can reduce cycle length. If the drum light remains on after the door is closed, try resetting the unit by unplugging it for 60 seconds, then plugging it back in — this can help recalibrate the door sensor. You can find more tips and support resources for your model here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-DLE8400BE.AEBEEUS. Overall good dryer. I dinged a few stars due to the fact this dryer creates so much lint!! Also the sensor for drying sometimes senses the clothes are dry and turns off but when I check they are still damp. For this reason I mostly use Manual Dry. Pros: fits a lot of clothes and has a varied different temperatures from high heat to low heat.

Hi, Christina. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear you’re enjoying the capacity and temperature options of your LG Dryer (DLE7400WE) model. However, we understand your concern about the lint build up and the unit's drying performance. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations. Regarding the lint buildup, regular cleaning of the lint filter before every cycle and checking the exhaust vent for blockages can help maintain optimal airflow. For more help, you may visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-how-to-perform-dryer-maintenance--1428690638456.
For the sensor drying issue, try selecting a higher dryness level setting (such as "Very Dry") to extend drying time. Also, mixing fabric types in one load can cause lighter items to dry faster, which may affect the sensor’s reading. Right off the bat, the first load of laundry we dried had clothes get torn up by getting caught near the lint trap. This area constantly catches strings, thin straps, or fabric softener sheets. Unimpressed by this dryer but hey, at least it looks pretty. And as a bonus, because i bought the set from best buy, i wasn't eligible for the LG rebate i thought i was getting.

Hi, Ashley. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Dryer (DLE8400BE) model. We understand your concerns about damaged clothing and missing a rebate. Please check the lint filter housing and drum seal for proper seating and sharp edges. If fabric is caught, the felt seal or filter frame may need adjustment or replacement. Running the dryer empty for a few minutes can help detect abnormal drum shifting. More guidance on dryer care is available here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-clothes-are-damaged--20154720307749. Rebate eligibility depends on specific retailers and purchase dates; since you bought from Best Buy, LG manages the terms with them, and exclusions may apply. The dryer's sensor is not accurate. So all settings on the left side (Normal, Heavy Duty, Bedding, & Delicates) are Sensor Dry. I had a very small load and set it to Normal, and the timer went from 50min to 4min to 1 min all within 3 minutes time because the sensor thought the clothes were dry. So if you want a guarantee, just go directly to the Time Dry setting and then increase the time based on what works for you. This will take trial and error. Also, I ran a full load of my husband's clothes that included towels and jeans and set the Time Dry to 1 hour and 25 min. and the clothes were still damp. So I wouldn't recommend a very full load that includes jeans and towels. Do those separately. Toggling through the Temperature levels doesn't toggle through smoothly either. But if you wait a little and toggle slowly, it works a little bit better. The door can swing open to the side, or, can open straight down (two options). When opening down, it's only designed to go to a 45 degree angle, not all the way down. I miss having the door go all the way down. I've only had the dryer for about a month. With a little trial and error things might improve over time.

I bought an LG washer a few years ago, and really like it, so thought I'd go with the dryer. The washer has pre-set settings, but by pushing a button in a category, I can change that setting to meet my needs. Not so with the dryer. Those pre-set settings are here to stay. The directions for most of today's clothes are to wash in cold water and tumble dry low. I can set the water temp in the washer to cold, but the only way I've been able to set the temp in the dryer to low is either use the delicate setting, in which case I can't adjust the time or the "more dry" setting. That means I have to use timed dry and set everything myself, and I have to do that in a specific order, or pushing a button will result in a change to another button I've already pushed. There appears to be no way I can do "more dry" in a low temp. And who knows how long I have to give the clothes to make sure they're dry? There's a button indicating I could create a special program, but every time I try, it just dings at me and doesn't change. I'll get used to this machine eventually, but it's not as user-friendly as the washer.

Hi, there. Thanks for sharing your experience with the LG Dryer (DLE8400WE) model. We understand how important it is for your laundry to come out fully dry and ready to use.
For heavier items like towels and bedding, we recommend selecting the Heavy Duty or Towels cycle and enabling the Manual Dry or More Time option to extend drying. Also, make sure the FlowSense duct blockage indicator isn’t lit — restricted airflow can reduce drying performance. Cleaning the lint filter and checking your external vent for obstructions can make a big difference. This dryer would have been great, if I could say it still worked. Nothing necessarily anything happened with mechanics of the dryer, but the fancy touch control panel melted away and morphed due to the heat of the weather while it was being moved for a few hours. Not covered under warranty when purchased so jokes on me, didn't even last 6 months. I'd avoid these touch panels if possible, but if you insist then please learn from my mistake get some sort of warranty.

We like the dryer and the capacity of it however, anything with a drawstring will get caught in the dryer vent and end up tangling everything else in the load. It has ruined several of our clothes. They need to reconfigure the dryer vent and send a replacement to consumers.

This dryer is awful. If you have a pet (with hair), this dryer won't remove any of it from your clothes. They even have a "pet hair" filter for $100 because they know how awful it is - and even that doesn't help. If you have a pet, do not get this dryer. If you have no pets, its fine. They could have simplified all the options though.

For best performance, especially with pet hair, we recommend: Running an empty cycle with a damp towel to help collect loose hair from the drum.

Cleaning the lint filter and exhaust vent regularly for optimal airflow. Bought this to replace my 15 year old LG dryer, a reliable workhorse. This updated model is a terrible iteration. It cant handle a heavier loud size, let alone a normal size - often clothes are still damp. The machine is bulky and the door closing mechanism is loud. The panel features are limited, and no real feature for quick dry - if you want to dry slightly damp clothing, or wrinkle release the machine runs for a few minutes, then shuts off never fully drying. My dryer is 3 days out of warranty and my belt already needs replacement, fully at my expense. Which is to say, LG customer service is terrible.

The dry sensor does not work AT ALL. For the timed dry, it still takes several cycles to dry and clothing comes out wrinkled, stiff, and full of static. Horrible quality and way overpriced. I would have been better off going with a used dryer instead of wasting money so much money on something that doesn’t work.
