Given the amount of great reviews, it's been so frustrating to end up with a similar experience to all the other 1 star reviews. They are absolutely true: the dryer sensor seems to not be working and after a cycle of drying at the second highest heat setting, a medium sized load is still so wet it might as well have not been running. I'm not sure if there is an issue with the machine being unable to vent the humidity out but there is so much condensation inside the drum and door I can only assume that is at least one of the problems. Just my luck that a cold front just came through and it's been raining non stop here so I can't even put the towels out to dry. It's like mother nature and LG teamed up to sabotage laundry day for me. Normally I welcome any excuse to procrastinate the laundry but with my supply of clean socks and underwear running dangerously low, it looks like I get to haul my damp, unfinished laundry to my boyfriend's house because my brand new dryer just isn't up to the task. Secondly, the lint "trapper" is an amazingly awful failure the likes of which I've never encountered before with a dryer, not even with the worst units in my first apartment way back in the day. It's like it was thought up during a drunken bet to be the most poorly designed lint trap this world has ever seen and boy does it earn that title! The first time I opened the dryer door after its first load, I was met with a faceful of lint and pet hair due to the dryer being stacked and thus perfectly level with my face for this dusty greeting. The bottom of the door was covered, as was the entry of the dryer so even if the clothes were dry, they would have been dragged through it all. I emptied the not entirely full trap and against all reason, hoped it would be better the second time. It was not. For the next load, I was actually saved by the fact that it was so damp inside because it meant all the lint and hair was stuck to the door instead of clogging my nose and lungs. Amazing. I am so lucky that these problems have revealed themselves in the very first week of having this dryer so maybe (again, my optimism will probably be misplaced) just maybe, I can actually get a refund and different dryer. I'll report back on how that goes with customer service, I'm sure they'll be not only responsive but efficient as well (I already have a headache thinking about this return process, please pray for me). Oh and another detail about this entire experience: when the install team showed up, they didn't even come prepared with the stacking kit. My boyfriend, already annoyed with all the issues we'd been having with delivery/install (a different saga entirely), had ordered one just in case and good thing he did otherwise I would have had an aneurysm. But if I did, at least I wouldn't have to continue with this ordeal.

Hi there. Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the DLEX4000B dryer. We understand the issue you've encountered with both the drying performance and the lint trap design. It’s understandable how concerning it must be to deal with a brand new appliance that isn’t meeting your expectations, especially when you rely on it for daily laundry tasks.
Regarding the drying issues, we recommend checking that the venting system is not blocked, as this can impact performance. Ensuring that the dryer is properly vented can significantly reduce condensation inside the drum and enhance drying efficiency. You may access this link related to your concern:

As for the lint trap design, we appreciate your feedback, as it is essential for us to understand where improvements can be made. Your experience is invaluable, and we want to ensure you have a satisfactory resolution. If you decide to proceed with a return or exchange, please reach out to our customer service team for support in that process.
We hope to provide a better experience moving forward. Please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport if there’s anything specific we can assist you with. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we wish you the best of luck in resolving these issues!

This dryer is the one for you if you enjoy vacuuming following every load of laundry... LITERALLY! The door seal gasket doesn't work properly, which is apparently a known LG issue. Following each and every load of laundry, I open the door and a ton of lint and dog hair come out...into our faces (it is stacked), on the floor, on the dryer ledge, on the clean laundry etc. There would be some in the lint trap also. I thought maybe we did something wrong when we installed it, but I found several reports of this issue with a simple Google search. I wish it had been in the reviews so I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. It will be picked-up and returned to Best Buy. Glad I am within my return window, others were not as lucky!

Purchased a dryer from Best Buy and scheduled delivery specifying that a small truck would be needed. Told the salesman I'd be stacking the dryer. When the delivery came, I was told I had to have a different stacking kit - an LG stacking kit, so they took the dryer away and told me to reschedule the next day. I ordered the stacking kit and rescheduled specifying a small truck was needed. Three days later I got a call from the delivery men. They couldn't get to my house because they had a big truck. Needed to call the next day to reschedule. Four days later they brought the dryer and stacking kit but couldn't install because the dryer has a specfic plug that didn't match my outlet. Left the dryer and stacking kit and said to reschedule the next day. I had an electrician out that afternoon. Today (three days later) got a call at 1:00 pm saying they would be at my house in 10 minutes. An hour later they hadn't shown up. I called the delivery man and he said "didn't they call you?" They didn't have a small truck and couldn't reach my house. I will have to reschedule tomorrow. This has been a nightmare. I'd never buy anything from Best Buy again. P.S. Rescheduled for following Tuesday and was told they'd send a pick-up truck. Installers arrived and said the vent was not the correct one - needed a flexible vent. THIS WAS THE FIFTH ATTEMPT TO INSTALL. My husband told them they had to find a way to get it done today. After calls to managers, dryer was finally installed.

Our family purchased a newly constructed home back in December 2024 and needed new appliances for our new home. We purchased an LG washer and dryer and refrigerator, a decent amount of coin spent with this company. Our washer was delivered damaged, which Bestbuy was able to exchange for another unit, but our LG dryer has been nothing but problematic from day one. We have had an error code (D80) show up on the display for the majority of loads dryed since delivery and installation. According to the manual (and online intel) this means the 80% of the ventilation/airway is obstructed, which therefore hinders the dryers performance, and may possibly damage the dryer longterm. There are steps (provided from LG and other online resources) on how to troubleshoot the issue to resolve the error code. We have tried everything listed, multiple times, to try to get this code to stop popping up and go away. Our lint trap and housing is free ftom dirt/debris, our laundry room is well ventilated, the vent hose is not pinched or kinked in any way, and the outside air vent port is visibly allowing air to exit. We checked everything. We contacted LG for assistance under warranty because we feel that there is a faulty sensor installed on our unit, which appears to be a common issue according to other purchase reviews. We contacted LG and did some quick troubleshooting with them; they then stated that before they'd send out a tech for support that we needed to have a professional vent cleaner come to our home and clean out our vents. They said that almost 90% of the time this error occurs due to a clogged vent. The said the'd reimburse use up to $100 for this service, if this was not the issue.... it's a brand new house that's been through multiple inspections (some I witnessed first-hand), I can see air exiting the exterior vent, and frankly a clogged vent is not the issue... also, this service will cost more than $100 dollars to have done. So... we are currently stuck with a poor quality defective dryer, LG is demanding that we pay extra money to have an unnecessary service performed to our home while their defective product is the entire problem, they wont pay for the full cost of the service they demand we have done before they do anything about the busted dryer, and we'll be forced to take time off work to have these multiples service calls performed. Could anyone buy a defective unit from any brand straight out of the box? Absolutely, it happens... however, LG's customer service is terrible, and this seems to be a fairly common issue with their dryers. These teo factors combined should make prospective buyers think twice. We spent a few thousand dollars on their products in one sitting and they couldn't care less, they pocketed our money and aren't concerned on how this impacts their customers. I will never buy another LG product, I regret giving them any business, and I hope you all save yourself the trouble, as you could easily get a dud just like us...

Hi there, KenP. We appreciate you sharing your experience with the D80 error code on your DLEX4000B dryer. We understand how your situation this can be, especially in a brand-new home where you’ve already inspected the vent system.
This error typically indicates restricted airflow, but since you've checked all common causes, we recommend trying the Flow Sense test by running an Air Dry cycle and checking if the exterior vent flaps open fully. If the issue persists, a service visit may be necessary to inspect the unit’s internal components.

Initually started having issues after having dryer for only 13 months. Dryer would flash off and on, turn off, and not dry clothes properly. Contacted Best Buy due to having protection plan on my dryer. Technican came out and found no issues. Its intermittently would have beeping noise afterwards but would work. Went to the dryer yesterday to do dry my clothes. It is not turning on all together. Contacted Best Buy and was told I will have to pay once more for a technican to come out with the exact problem they never fixed prior. I am over this dryer and would not recommend to anyone.

The dryer doesn't dry clothes in the first cycle, it requires two or three more. The dryer was purchased six weeks ago and two days ago it had an issue. The signal indicating the cycle was finished chimed a few seconds after it was started. The air in the tub was cold and the clothes, of course, was still wet. The message read, "clean filter". The filter is cleaned after every load so it was clean. After restarting it two more time it went through a complete cycle. It seems to be a defective dryer.

Hi, Loretta. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Dryer (DLEX4000W) model. We understand the importance of having a dryer that completes a full cycle and delivers consistent drying performance, especially when the unit is only a few weeks old.
For the “clean filter” message and the cycle ending early, one helpful step is to check the exhaust duct for any blockages or kinks, as restricted airflow can cause the dryer to stop heating and end the cycle prematurely even when the lint filter is clean. It can also help to run the Flow Sense test by pressing and holding the Temp and Signal buttons for 3 seconds to confirm proper ventilation. Also, just found out you don't get any Best Buy points like you used to when you made purchases unless you use a Best Buy credit card or you pay for a membership. Customer service rep was very nice and almost embarrassed to let me know. I guess there's no loyalty for a long time customers now I will just go anywhere. I always say, vote with your dollars!

I have consistently supported Best Buy, dating back to the days of Circuit City. However, my recent encounter was far from the "Best" experience. It was, in fact, dreadful. The delivery driver failed to arrive during the designated timeframe of 9 to 1 pm EST. Despite contacting customer service twice that day, they were unable to reach the drivers responsible for delivering my washer and dryer. I had to take a day off and drive my other place (2 hours away) to receive my washer and dryer (we needed the washer immediately). Numerous calls to various customer representatives revealed that Best Buy lacks an effective system to track and resolve issues like mine. Even after visiting the Fairfax store two times, they were unable to assist, insisting that I continue calling customer service. The rationale was that they could not do anything in the system since the transaction was pending. Even, the delivery drivers NEVER updated the system that the washer and dryer were not delivered. Best Buy, can you try to be best next time please? Thank you

Do not buy this. This is the second time I purchased an LG dryer based on Consumer Reports and it's the second time I've had massive issues. The first one lasted only four years and I ultimately spent more repairing it over time than the cost of the unit itself. I was naive and bought a second one (thinking the first was a fluke), and only five months in, I had issues again, and I was told two parts are broken and need to be ordered. I am still waiting for the "warranty" to be useful, as LG has taken more than three weeks at this point to fix the dryer (thus forcing me to spend money getting clothes cleaned and dried elsewhere). No end in sight. Never again with this product.

I hate this dryer. I had an older version that was approximately 15 -18 years old that functioned much better than this one. We only replaced it because the washer died and flooded our hallway. We chose to get this version of the dryer because ours was so old and we wanted the newer technology knowing that our dryer probably didn’t have much time left, plus we wanted it to match the washer. Now, every 3rd to 4th load, I have to clean the vents with a brush and a vacuum. The filter is significantly smaller than the filter on my older version. Other than that, nothing has changed much on our side. We have cleaned the vent to outside, we have put a new, shorter vent hose on it, and nothing helps. I have to put in smaller loads to get things dry, which is ridiculous since the should dry larger loads easily. This is awful, particularly for someone recovering from cervical spine surgery and still struggling with a lumbar spine injury. I do not recommend this dryer and wish I could get my old one back.

This dryer caused issues from the get go that LG ignored. We installed it appropriately (with spanking clean vents) and have gotten D85 and D90 errors since. I quick google search would have told us that many experience this issue and need to manually remove this safety device which is insane to me. After all the troubleshooting, I missed the return window and wish I hadn’t. Super disappointed.

Bought this to replace our old Samsung Dryer, which had served us well for years. Turns out this LG "Smart" dryer is a little too smart. It keeps throwing a d95 error code saying our vents are blocked up. We cleaned them. Then it kept saying there was a block. We doubled checked the connector per the LG instructions. Nope, still said it was blocked! We hired an outside company to professionally check and clean the ducts all the way to the roof - they said everything was fine. They should have tried convincing the dryer, as it continues to throw the same d95 error code again and again, no matter what size load, whether or not the filter was just cleaned, and after we repeatedly clean the vent. The companion washer is fantastic, but this dryer is a dud. Never seen a smart product be so dumb and worthless.

When we bought our new home we went all in on LG - washer / dryer & TVs. This dryer purchase was by far the biggest mistake we made. A couple of weeks in (of course after the 14 day return period), we started getting d90 errors a few minutes into drying. I consulted with LG and we were told it was likely a clogged dryer vent from “years of use” in our house - I explained that that’s highly unlikely since it is a brand new house. I was then told a repair ticket would be opened - never heard back from LG. I called again a few weeks later and again, was told a repair ticket would be opened, no follow up from LG. I tried Best Buy support as well, but was told to contact LG. We’re now shopping for a new washer & dryer (washer has been retaining hair in the drum) and will be staying away from LG in the future.

LG support insists this is working as intended, but even when I set the dryer to "Very Dry", clothes are too damp to fold and put away. This happened when I tested with ONE SHIRT. I do not do large mixed loads. All jeans. Damp. All gym shorts. Damp. All t-shirts. Damp. These aren't huge loads, and I am used to doing loads of similar weight and materials so the sensor in the dryer works properly. They basically told me the sensors will not work unless I do a load of exactly the same things that isn't too big or too small. I don't know how to to make my loads any more the same. I paid more for a sensor feature that is absolutely worthless. This isn't my first dryer with a sensor, and I've never had this problem before. My last dryer barely lasted five years, but at least it dryed on the sensor settings. This will be my last LG.

Dryer was unable to be properly installed due to vent tube was too long. Installers were unable to remediate the problem or replace with a shorter tube. Instructed to schedule another install appointment. Installer would provide the information to service/support on what was needed.

DO NOT BUY FROM BESTBUY! Their delivery people wrecked my products. They offered a $200 gift card for absolutely wrecking a $2000 set…. Then NEVER EVEN SENT THE GIFT CARD. I contacted them TWO different times after never getting the gift card. They blow me off every time. DO NOT buy from them. You will not get what you paid for and customer service is a nightmare!

Hello there, Juke. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your situation and how important it is to receive the level of service you expect when investing in a premium appliance like the LG DLEX4000B Electric Dryer. While delivery and compensation matters are handled directly by Best Buy, we’d still like to make sure your unit is operating at its best. If you notice any performance concerns, we recommend running the Flow Sense™ indicator check to ensure proper ventilation, as restricted airflow can impact drying efficiency.
