Picked up this Ring doorbell as I needed one for the front of my house. I have a Pro model wired facing south but wanted this one by the other door facing west. Got it set up and it connected flawlessly to my internet. Has been working fine since. As we already have a Ring account we get all the notices with AI descriptions. The battery life isn't too bad. Have used it for 8 days and still have 73% left using the 60 second record time instead of Auto. Nice feature is the easy remove battery too. I have several extras from other battery cameras inside so won't be a problem changing it out. Great price on sale too. I definitely can recommend!

So far, so good. I wanted to try out this latest model. The video is clear and easy to install along with being designed better to remove battery. I am still observing battery life for this doorbell.

The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) is an amazing upgrade for anyone wanting a smarter, clearer view of their front door without the hassle of hardwiring. Unboxing and setup are incredibly easy, with the Ring app guiding you step-by-step. If you are upgrading, you will appreciate that even though the redesigned body is slightly longer than the previous model, the screw holes still match perfectly. It also comes with an angled wedge plate in the box which was perfect for my situation as have a protruding corner wall that creates a blind spot. Once it is up, the video quality is stunning. The "Retinal 2K" resolution (1920×1920) and 140-degree square field of view give you a clear, head-to-toe look at your porch. It does have a slight "fisheye" lens effect, but that I can adjust to that for how much extra area and how many packages it captures. Performance is speedy and reliable, and it has a crisp night vision and responsive two-way audio that lets you talk to visitors naturally without a lagging delay. The noticeable feature of this new model for me is the improved, cloud-based AI notifications. Instead of just getting a generic motion alert, the doorbell now gives me highly detailed descriptions of what is happening. It can identify specific couriers, letting you know if an Amazon or UPS driver has arrived, or even describe actions like "a person is walking out of the house with a dog." This makes it incredibly easy to tell if the camera is just catching a neighbor on their own porch or if someone is actually approaching your door. You can also tag familiar faces to cut down on unnecessary alerts when family members come and go. Battery performance is equally impressive. Real-world testing shows it holding onto roughly 73% of its charge after 8 days of heavy use, even with a longer 60-second recording limit. Because it uses Ring’s standard quick-release battery, swapping it out for a fresh one is a breeze, though you can always hardwire it down the road if you want it to trickle-charge automatically. I still wonder why they use micro-usb charging as most devices these days have switched to usb-c. The only real catch is that there is no onboard storage; to save videos and unlock the advanced AI features and courier tracking, you will need an ongoing Ring Protect subscription. I don't mind since I already have an account. Overall, if you are looking for a battery-powered smart doorbell that balances easy installation, great smart features, and high clarity, this is easily the best version of the Ring doorbell yet.

We’ve had Ring for a long time, ever since we got our first doorbell I’ve seen plenty of improvements and the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) is a great upgrade over the previous version, they both work great but there are many upgrades that are just great. First it arrived fast and well packaged with everything needed for an easy installation, the application helps out a lot when it comes to the installation since it gives you step by step information with short videos and pictures so it is just easy. The Ring doorbell is slim and tall that looks great in any place. When it comes to performance, the video is very sharp due to its 2K with high resolution and the video also captures further up and down to catch head-to-toe. Best of all we can zoom in closer in the video and see much more detail. When it comes to low light in the evening or at night, it captures better and in color video with minimum light. When it comes to battery, it lasts a long time and it is very easy to replace the battery, we have the charger with another battery on hand so all we have to do is swap the battery when it is running low and there are no periods of no security. As for motion detection, it works great, we do not get notices with moving shadows or other objects, it works well and in the application we can set the area to be active for motion and that gives us notifications that we really care for. Using the two way talk comes in useful, we’ve used it in different occasions, if someone is in the front door we can talk to them from anywhere and let them know either we are on the way to the door or perhaps to come back, if it’s any kind of delivery we can give them further instructions without even opening the door. We also like that this Ring doorbell can be also hardwired, and that is very useful because there is no more need to replace any batteries. Overall, it is an awesome upgrade from our previous one, we are keeping the previous version but installing it in the backdoor while this new upgraded doorbell is installed in the front of the house where we get the most traffic. It looks great, it is very useful to keep an eye on our house, it gives a layer of security that we have gotten used to.

The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is the newest addition of the standard Ring Doorbell model. I have an older model that this is replacing. And I must say I like the smaller size of this new one. I also love the option to just pop the front off to grab the battery pack to charge it, rather than having to find the specific tool and unscrew two screws every single time. At least now I don’t have to worry about dropping those tiny screws and losing them (because I’ve dropped them many times but luckily always found them). The process on this new model is much quicker and more efficient in my opinion. The battery on this new model is supposed to last longer, which I can’t speak on as I’ve only been using it for about 2 weeks. My last model would last quite awhile between charges in the first year or 2 but slowly started requiring it more often. Especially after moving to a home with no screen door, because apparently being directly exposed to the elements (especially that ice cold Michigan air we get in the winter) causes the battery to drain faster. I’m hoping this one will have a longer life in between charges. But I won’t know until winter. I just checked at it’s at 71%. Which honestly doesn’t seem great since it’s been exactly 13 days since I hooked it up. It did have to charge so it’s probably been a full 12 days of use. Which means it might only last about 40 days before needing a charge. The video quality itself is good. Slightly better than the previous model. This is my 4th ring cam so I am familiar with setting up the zones in which I only want notifications for. They all work the same in that regard and this one is no different. I only get notifications for the sidewalk leading up to my door. Not for every car driving by on the street. You will receive a 30 day free trial of the new Pro AI features. Which are interesting, and sometimes amusing, to read the AI descriptions of what’s in the video. They are very detailed sometimes, for example, “A person is walking on the sidewalk with a German Shepherd”. Which after watching the video the AI was correct about the dog’s breed. But as interesting as they are (I will attach photos of some of them) I am not willing to pay extra for it. All in all I’m happy with the newer version, but time will tell if the battery is better, worse or equal to it’s predecessor.

We are in the process of moving and wanted to get ahead of the game by installing a new video doorbell at the new house when Ring launched their latest 2nd generation Ring Battery Doorbell Plus which was designed for homeowners who want a smarter, clearer view of the front door without committing to a fully wired setup. We were already sold on Ring products after owning and using them for years in our current house and figured it would be easier going with what we know since we already had experience with their products which typically lead the industry with their features, designed, platform, etc. The unboxing was very simple and like what we were already used to with our current Ring doorbell products and, in my opinion, would be fairly simple for first time users as the smart phone application walks you through user activation and installation step-by-step whether you plan on wiring it or installing it using just the wireless rechargeable battery. After installation and set up with customizing zones so I’m not getting notifications for everything passing by it, I was immediately able to tell the difference with their latest upgrades including super clear video and a wider angle of view. It also comes with a trial of their AI features which will tell users exactly what the doorbell camera sensed. For some examples, it would notify us that our gray cat was walking on the front patio, a white vehicle parked in the driveway, a package was delivered on our front porch or a child is running in front of our house which is all very relative and useful in our lives. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus’ headline feature, and perhaps its biggest strength, is higher-resolution video compared to previous models and comes with Retinal 2K and established head-to-toe view. These features paired with motion detection and two-way talk so you can see, hear, and respond to visitors from your phone make it a strong option for monitoring motion, notifications of deliveries, screening guests, and keeping tabs on activity at the doorstep. The taller field of view helps capture more of a visitor and the area around packages, which is more useful than a standard wide-only frame. Overall, the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus was a welcome and needed smart home addition, or upgrade, for anyone who wants better front-door awareness with minimal installation hassle. With clear high-resolution video, dependable motion detection, and practical two-way talk, it covers the features most people care about in a modern video doorbell. If you want a battery-powered model that balances convenience and everyday security well, this is an easy product to recommend.

I had pondered for a long time about which door camera to get once I had decided to purchase one and after reading a ton of reviews I decided on this Ring Battery Doorbell PLUS Camera. I wanted the Head-To-Toe visibility so I could see the ground for packages. It not only comes with super easy set-up instructions, but it also comes with a AA battery and charging cord. When someone rings the doorbell you are immediately notified however I do wish I was notified a little earlier but maybe that can be adjusted via the sensitivity settings which I have yet to tinker with. Package: In the box is the camera, instructions for set-up and how to add your device to the mobile Ring App. It also comes with an extra battery for charging the camera, extra screws, and a wedge to lower the angle of the camera (it can tilt down or to the side depending on your space). Mobile App: The mobile Ring app is user friendly and easy to navigate. You can see all of your doorbell history free for 30 days (after that, it is $4.99 a month for the basic subscription). It is CHEAPER to pay for a year than to pay monthly. I chose the basic subscription because I only have one device and opted out of needing certain features. The layout of the app is clear and easy to understand, just nice & straightforward. Camera & Sound Quality: The camera quality is excellent. It's very clear even at night. Camera quality is one of the first things to look for when deciding on a camera and I have ZERO complaints so far. The video quality is just as good as pictures and when talking to someone, sound is also clear and easy to understand. In the short period I have had the Battery Doorbell PLUS I have thoroughly enjoyed using it & am pleased with the purchase, I would reccommend to anyone if asked.

I recently upgraded from my Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) to the the new Ring Battery Doorbell Plus, and I have been very impressed with the upgrade so far. Since I already had a Ring doorbell in place, installation was very easy. Everything lined up perfectly with the existing mounting holes and wiring, making the swap quick and hassle-free. I was up and running in just a few minutes. One of the first things I noticed was the new AI generated notifications. They are much more descriptive than what I was used to. Instead of simply telling me there was motion or a person detected, the alerts actually describe what is happening, For example, I have received notifications saying a person was bending over putting on boots or that someone was putting a brown package on the porch. This has also carried over to my other Ring devices. I now receive noticiations that my dog is carrying a yellow toy by the pool. Those extra details make it much easier to know if I need to check the camera immediately. The video quality is excellent. The 2K resolution provides a crisp, clear image both during the day and at night, and the wide angle view allows me to see much more of my front porch. Faces, packages, and other details are easy to make out, and the zoom feature helps when I want a closer look. Overall, this has been a worthwhile upgrade from my previous Ring doorbell. The installation was simple, the picture quality is outstanding and the smarter notifications add a level of convenience I didn't realize I was missing. If you're already using an older Ring model and are considering an upgrade, I would definitly recommend this one.

Excellent video quality with clear daytime and nighttime images. Premium models now offer 4K or high-resolution head-to-toe views. Fast motion detection and reliable notifications. Two-way audio lets you speak with visitors from anywhere. Easy installation with both battery-powered and wired options. Strong Alexa integration, including announcements on Echo devices and live video viewing. Good app with customizable motion zones and package detection (on supported models). It uses the same battery as the older Ring models, so I didn't have to buy new accessories. Very cost-effective, easy to install, and works perfectly. Excellent value for the money!

For me this was a definite upgrade. I was going from a 2nd generation Ring to this new model of the Battery Doorbell Plus. One of the first things I noticed was the increase in both clarity of picture/video and the wider (higher?) angle of vision. You can actually see the person’s feet and surrounding porch area. Not much to hide. I guess camera technology has come a long way, as well. Ring now uses what they call Retinal 2K video. The video quality is crisp and clean. It seems to really come in handy when zooming in — hardly any blurring. And all of this stays amazingly clear when the camera is activated at nighttime. A plus for me is that the new Doorbell Plus is so much easier when it comes to replacing the battery (and it uses the same batteries as the old Ring. I had been rotating 2 batteries, so now I have 3. Awesome!) Instead of blindly using the previously supplied star-tipped screwdriver to dismantle the old one, the new Doorbell Plus is much easier to open in order to swap out the battery. Well done, Ring. I do suggest the small investment in a 2nd battery so you can always have one charged and ready to go. I do wish that this new model came with some sort of back plate that might hide the wall that the previous model covered. As you can see in the pics, I’m going to have to get out the touch-up paint. Not a huge deal. Since our porch layout puts the Doorbell Plus kind of in the corner, I’m also going to try using the angled corner wedge that Ring supplied. I’ll be able to see even more!

The Ring - Battery Doorbell Plus (newest model) Retinal 2K with wide-angle video, up to 6x Zoom, Night Vision and Battery Pack - Nickel Silver has been a nice upgrade from my original ring battery unit. One of the upgrades that I immediately noticed is how it gets charged. With the new unit, I can leave the camera stuck to the wall and just remove the battery to charge it. This is helpful because even if it is not recording, it is not obvious since it’s not completely missing anymore. The video quality is better and clearer than my original. Another great upgrade is that the night vision is now in color, whereas before it was black and white. The two-way talk works well. I can hear the person clearly when they speak. The new 2nd Gen Ring device App can also give you a description of what is happening while it is recording. For example it said during one of my answered doorbells, “Person is walking on the porch and extending their hand.” That feature can also be turned off if you don’t want it for some reason. There are many other features that can be activated such as preview alerts, unusual event alerts, doorbell calls, and several others. The app and camera have certainly come a long way since the company first started. The battery life can be monitored on the app by clicking on the settings icon. Out of the box, the unit took several hours to charge. The instructions say to allow up to 12 hours for the first charge. Setting up the app is straightforward. Adding an additional camera to the app is even easier. The instructions are presented step by step, with pictures and instructions that allow for easy install and set up.

Ring has been in the video doorbell scene from the start. They’re the OG and have been the leading brand. As such, I had high expectations of Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. This video doorbell delivers. Setup It’s easy to set up and the whole process is self-guided through the app. The only thing left is to charge the doorbell before first use. Performance This is where it gets interesting. AI is a major focus right now, and this Ring video doorbell uses impressive object recognition. Whenever a person or object moves in front of the camera, it sends a phone notification with a description of what it detected and what happened. For instance, I recently received a text notification depicting someone walking along the pathway and trying to open the garage door across from my front door. This is a standout feature that I really appreciate. I also like it very much that the doorbell integrates with my Amazon Alexa devices. When someone presses the doorbell button, my Alexa device alerts me. So, there’s no need to buy a chime accessory. Also, the app is really intuitive and easy to use to access the notifications and recorded video. The new doorbell comes with a 30-day trial subscription, which is pretty much a must to access recorded videos and to utilize all the features and capabilities of the doorbell. There’s also a feature to receive alert and notifications from other Ring users within the neighborhood. Users can also share footages to the Ring community. Conclusion Overall, this is an excellent video doorbell that performs well, works seamlessly with Amazon’s ecosystem, and offers plenty of useful features.

By now these Ring doorbells are everywhere, and everyone knows about it. I have a an older Ring 4 and I have a side by side image comparison, you can skip to that if that’s what you care about. So first, it’s always to have it hardwired. Installation is very easy but I just had a door guy install it, they all have experience. I had my door guy install the first one , it was so easy I decided to just install the second one myself. There’s videos from Ring or YouTube if you want a step by step video. After installation, there’s the software to set up. Everything is intuitive, quick to set up, and versatile. There’s a few paid features such as the AI description and summary, so you get a little notification summary that pops up on your phone. Very nice as it describes delivery guy or dog walking by etc. You can look up the paid tier features, it’s nice but not for everyone. Finally to the thing people most care about, image quality. I am very happy to see the difference. It’s hard because you don’t know what you’re missing out until you actually have it installed. Images appear less muddy, the dithering/resolving image techniques are clearer, the contrast and range is better, night images are better, less distortion at the corners. Very big upgrade from my previous Ring 3 and Ring 4 I had laying around. Finally the smoothness of the audio also was nice, clearer and smoother than before. I wish there was more range, it’s about the same as the previous generation. Bigger upgrade than expected, highly recommended !

As with all things battery, it depends on settings. If you just go with the Ring doorbell only recording and allowing 2 way communication when the button is pushed, it will last a good while on battery. However, you miss out on motion detection. If you up the settings to detect motion at a higher rate, you might get just over a week worth of use before you need to charge it again. However, if you get the solar charger or already have a wired doorbell to replace, you can keep that charge up forever. This doorbell shines best with the added power connection, pro subscription and increased settings. Giving oddly detailed descriptions of the motion detected, like “A deer is walking in the yard” or “A person is moving their hands at the entrance”. You can even enable the option to identify the person so you know who is there. You can enable automatic replies and when the bell is pushed, it can be treated like a phone call. Literally notifying your phone like you are getting a video call. However, all these added options means more battery usage, which means you have to remove the battery to charge more often, leaving more down time. Overall, this is better than the wired doorbell because it can still provide all the same functions without power. However, if you want to take full advantage of it, you need a power source or you end up charging it every week. Basic function as a wireless doorbell are still capable without subscription and extra power source over a much longer time.

The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus (2K, 2nd Gen) is Ring’s latest battery‑powered doorbell, offering a 2K video resolution that Ring markets as “Retinal Vision 2K”—essentially their enhanced HDR processing. It includes two‑way talk, motion detection, and all the standard Ring features, but like every Ring device, it relies entirely on Ring’s cloud service for video storage. There’s no onboard storage, and without a subscription you’re limited to Live View, motion alerts, and a single snapshot preview of the last motion event. I’ve always been a little wary of devices that lose major functionality without a cloud plan, and Ring definitely falls into that category. That said, Ring’s ecosystem is mature, polished, and like it or not—still the benchmark for smart doorbells. The 2K image quality is solid. If you want true 4K, Ring has other models, but this 2K Retinal Vision still delivers a sharp, clean image with a claimed 6× digital zoom. As with most digital zoom, license plates and fine details can still be hit‑or‑miss. Two‑way audio is responsive with minimal latency, so talking to someone at your door through your phone feels natural and less of a walkie talkie type interaction - OVER ! Event latency is low as well, so what you see is essentially real‑time. One of the biggest advantages of this model is flexibility. It runs on Ring’s removable battery, but it can also be hardwired to an existing doorbell transformer, which is what I did. In that setup, the battery trickle‑charges and becomes a non‑issue. Ring does sell a fully hardwired model with no battery, but the Battery Doorbell Plus gives you more versatility and improved battery performance compared to the previous generation. Battery life will vary depending on motion frequency, Wi‑Fi strength, and placement, weak Wi‑Fi will drain it faster. Ring’s cloud‑based AI has noticeably improved. You get familiar face detection, which I use to prevent alerts when it recognizes me or my wife. It also includes package detection, and the wide field of view (140 degrees square) helps ensure packages are actually visible. The Ring app is one of the best and is constantly updated. Ability to customize options is strong, and integration with Alexa devices is seamless you can pull up the doorbell feed on any Echo Show with a simple voice command. Now to the elephant in the room, any cloud‑based camera comes with privacy trade‑offs, and Ring has had its share of controversy, especially around the Neighbors program. You don’t have to opt in, and there are settings to limit sharing, but it’s still something to be aware of. Cloud‑only storage means you’re trusting Ring with all recorded footage, although the app does provide you the ability to download >>> Pros >> Strong 2K image quality with good HDR >> Excellent night vision >> Reliable performance with consistent updates >> Flexible power options (battery or hardwired) >> Improved AI for faces, packages, and motion >> Ring and Amazon ecosystem (Alexa devices) >> Good price point if you don't need 4k <<< Cons No local storage subscription required for access to recordings << Cloud‑based privacy concerns << Digital zoom still struggles with fine details like license plates.

I picked this Ring door camera because I loved the one I had previously, the features, camera quality, etc but it finally started to kick the bucket. The upgrades with this one were a welcome addition and given my experience with the first camera I saw no reason to try anything else. Pros - Easy Installation - Good battery life with swappable batteries - Great picture Quality - Zoom functionality Cons - No wired option The build quality of this thing is very solid. It actually feels more durable than my previous one and that thing was solid already. Its very dense feeling and has weight to it due to the battery. The lens is slightly inset so as not to get damaged easily. The button doesn't feel cheap and wobbly like you'd find elsewhere, very solid motion. Installation was very simple, install the included mount (angled or flat available), then go through the setup with the app on the phone. Having already had a Ring camera the app was already setup for the most part, I just had to add a device, but it went very smoothly. The app features are nice as long as you pay the subscription. It has live view for the camera, it records events when it captures motion or the doorbell is pressed. It has a nice zoom feature now with a higher resolution camera so you can pick up smaller details and even read a license plate if you need to. Battery life seems really good so far. I've only had it installed a week and have had minimal recordings. It seems like I'll get a month of use at least between charges. I'll definitely be picking up the additional battery packs so that I can just swap them out instead of removing it to be charged. Overall, I am very happy with this ring camera. The only downside I have with it is the lack of an option to hardwire it, but I'm sure if I had paid attention I would have seen this one didn't have that option like my old one did.

I thought it was about time to replace my older wireless doorbell from another company since its app would sign out randomly and leave me without notifications. The new Ring was a perfect choice, and I have to say I’m extremely impressed with so many of the features! Gone are the days of pulling my whole doorbell off of the bracket and bringing it in to charge. This one has a battery that comes right out of the bottom and charges via USB pretty quickly. Where it really shines, albeit a little too accurately at times, is the AI functionality included in the higher subscription package. It describes everything going on when the camera is triggered - such as “person is walking in the hallway with a German Shepherd and a box” (that’s me!) so that you can decide if you need to see the video clip. The only occasional issue is when my neighbor across the hall is opening their apartment and the message reads like someone is opening my door instead. There’s a new set of sensors you can get which turn the device, with monitoring, into a pretty effective home security solution. I’m excited to get those and get rid of my current provider there as well. As always, the Ring app is easy to use and pairing the camera to it takes mere seconds. I’d like more of a settings walkthrough, like actively helping me figure out how to turn down the sensitivity so not everyone who comes by my busy apartment door sets it off - but it’s not difficult to figure out.

Easy to install with easy set up instructions Great picture…. I get notices on my phone .. sleek and good looking
