Picked up this Ring doorbell as I needed one for the front of my house. I have a Pro model wired facing south but wanted this one by the other door facing west. Got it set up and it connected flawlessly to my internet. Has been working fine since. As we already have a Ring account we get all the notices with AI descriptions. The battery life isn't too bad. Have used it for 8 days and still have 73% left using the 60 second record time instead of Auto. Nice feature is the easy remove battery too. I have several extras from other battery cameras inside so won't be a problem changing it out. Great price on sale too. I definitely can recommend!

If you are upgrading, you will appreciate that even though the redesigned body is slightly longer than the previous model, the screw holes still match perfectly. It also comes with an angled wedge plate in the box which was perfect for my situation as have a protruding corner wall that creates a blind spot. Once it is up, the video quality is stunning. The "Retinal 2K" resolution (1920×1920) and 140-degree square field of view give you a clear, head-to-toe look at your porch. It does have a slight "fisheye" lens effect, but that I can adjust to that for how much extra area and how many packages it captures. Performance is speedy and reliable, and it has a crisp night vision and responsive two-way audio that lets you talk to visitors naturally without a lagging delay. The noticeable feature of this new model for me is the improved, cloud-based AI notifications. Instead of just getting a generic motion alert, the doorbell now gives me highly detailed descriptions of what is happening. It can identify specific couriers, letting you know if an Amazon or UPS driver has arrived, or even describe actions like "a person is walking out of the house with a dog." This makes it incredibly easy to tell if the camera is just catching a neighbor on their own porch or if someone is actually approaching your door. You can also tag familiar faces to cut down on unnecessary alerts when family members come and go. Battery performance is equally impressive. Real-world testing shows it holding onto roughly 73% of its charge after 8 days of heavy use, even with a longer 60-second recording limit. Because it uses Ring’s standard quick-release battery, swapping it out for a fresh one is a breeze, though you can always hardwire it down the road if you want it to trickle-charge automatically. I still wonder why they use micro-usb charging as most devices these days have switched to usb-c. The only real catch is that there is no onboard storage; to save videos and unlock the advanced AI features and courier tracking, you will need an ongoing Ring Protect subscription. I don't mind since I already have an account. Overall, if you are looking for a battery-powered smart doorbell that balances easy installation, great smart features, and high clarity, this is easily the best version of the Ring doorbell yet.

We are in the process of moving and wanted to get ahead of the game by installing a new video doorbell at the new house when Ring launched their latest 2nd generation Ring Battery Doorbell Plus which was designed for homeowners who want a smarter, clearer view of the front door without committing to a fully wired setup. We were already sold on Ring products after owning and using them for years in our current house and figured it would be easier going with what we know since we already had experience with their products which typically lead the industry with their features, designed, platform, etc. The unboxing was very simple and like what we were already used to with our current Ring doorbell products and, in my opinion, would be fairly simple for first time users as the smart phone application walks you through user activation and installation step-by-step whether you plan on wiring it or installing it using just the wireless rechargeable battery. After installation and set up with customizing zones so I’m not getting notifications for everything passing by it, I was immediately able to tell the difference with their latest upgrades including super clear video and a wider angle of view. It also comes with a trial of their AI features which will tell users exactly what the doorbell camera sensed. For some examples, it would notify us that our gray cat was walking on the front patio, a white vehicle parked in the driveway, a package was delivered on our front porch or a child is running in front of our house which is all very relative and useful in our lives. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus’ headline feature, and perhaps its biggest strength, is higher-resolution video compared to previous models and comes with Retinal 2K and established head-to-toe view. These features paired with motion detection and two-way talk so you can see, hear, and respond to visitors from your phone make it a strong option for monitoring motion, notifications of deliveries, screening guests, and keeping tabs on activity at the doorstep. The taller field of view helps capture more of a visitor and the area around packages, which is more useful than a standard wide-only frame. Overall, the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus was a welcome and needed smart home addition, or upgrade, for anyone who wants better front-door awareness with minimal installation hassle. With clear high-resolution video, dependable motion detection, and practical two-way talk, it covers the features most people care about in a modern video doorbell. If you want a battery-powered model that balances convenience and everyday security well, this is an easy product to recommend.

For me this was a definite upgrade. I was going from a 2nd generation Ring to this new model of the Battery Doorbell Plus. One of the first things I noticed was the increase in both clarity of picture/video and the wider (higher?) angle of vision. You can actually see the person’s feet and surrounding porch area. Not much to hide. I guess camera technology has come a long way, as well. Ring now uses what they call Retinal 2K video. The video quality is crisp and clean. It seems to really come in handy when zooming in — hardly any blurring. And all of this stays amazingly clear when the camera is activated at nighttime. A plus for me is that the new Doorbell Plus is so much easier when it comes to replacing the battery (and it uses the same batteries as the old Ring. I had been rotating 2 batteries, so now I have 3. Awesome!) Instead of blindly using the previously supplied star-tipped screwdriver to dismantle the old one, the new Doorbell Plus is much easier to open in order to swap out the battery. Well done, Ring. I do suggest the small investment in a 2nd battery so you can always have one charged and ready to go. I do wish that this new model came with some sort of back plate that might hide the wall that the previous model covered. As you can see in the pics, I’m going to have to get out the touch-up paint. Not a huge deal. Since our porch layout puts the Doorbell Plus kind of in the corner, I’m also going to try using the angled corner wedge that Ring supplied. I’ll be able to see even more!

One of the upgrades that I immediately noticed is how it gets charged. With the new unit, I can leave the camera stuck to the wall and just remove the battery to charge it. This is helpful because even if it is not recording, it is not obvious since it’s not completely missing anymore. The video quality is better and clearer than my original. Another great upgrade is that the night vision is now in color, whereas before it was black and white. The two-way talk works well. I can hear the person clearly when they speak. The new 2nd Gen Ring device App can also give you a description of what is happening while it is recording. For example it said during one of my answered doorbells, “Person is walking on the porch and extending their hand.” That feature can also be turned off if you don’t want it for some reason. There are many other features that can be activated such as preview alerts, unusual event alerts, doorbell calls, and several others. The app and camera have certainly come a long way since the company first started. The battery life can be monitored on the app by clicking on the settings icon. Out of the box, the unit took several hours to charge. The instructions say to allow up to 12 hours for the first charge. Setting up the app is straightforward. Adding an additional camera to the app is even easier. The instructions are presented step by step, with pictures and instructions that allow for easy install and set up.
