Is the remote RF and TX? null

Hi Jeff, thanks for your interest in our Blu-ray Player. We can definitely assist with that! For the BDP-S1700U, the remote is a traditional IR (Infrared) type, not RF. What that means for you is that you'll need to have a clear line of sight between the remote and the Blu-ray player for it to register your button presses.
