[Employee of bestbuy] The Google Nest Cam Outdoor (Wired, 2nd Gen, 2025) is a compelling upgrade that finally brings sharp 2K HDR resolution and a wider 152° field of view to the Nest lineup. Video quality is crisp, capturing distinct details often missed by 1080p predecessors. The standout feature is the deep Gemini AI integration, allowing for highly specific alerts and natural language searches (e.g., "Show me the dog on the patio"). However, the device is wired-only, limiting placement flexibility compared to battery models. Additionally, unlocking the full potential of Gemini AI requires a Google Home Premium subscription. It is an excellent choice for those already invested in the Google ecosystem.

Wow! Awesome cameras that capture everything, have facial recognition, learn as time passes what different movements are from and are very easy to set up. I have two mounted on or Class A motorhome and the magnetic mounts have no issue holding the cameras in place mounted outside the rig. Super crisp video, powerful mic and the ability to talk to whomever is outside.

Camera looks great, connects easily, gives great footage day or night. Finding where they moved whatever feature in this month's version of the app is getting frustrating, but I don't think that's exclusive to Google.

Having a Google Pixel it made sense to go with Google Home and their cameras. With Gemini available with the cameras and 2k you couldn't ask for a better system. Set up is easy, install, plug it in and follow the app. I give these cameras 10 out of 10!

If you are looking for a true outdoor camera, get the other one. This one is still very nice and has a long cord for plugging in, but once it is unplugged, it turns off. So, when the power goes out, the camera will also turn off. Because of that, I decided to get the Nest camera with a battery instead. Nevertheless, it is still an awesome camera to have.

I’ve been using the Google Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen) for my backyard and it’s been a solid upgrade. The 2K video quality is super clear both during the day and at night, and the wide viewing angle really helps cover more of my yard without needing multiple cameras. Motion detection is reliable and the alerts come through quickly, which gives me peace of mind when I’m not home.

I got tired of changing the batteries in the competitor's camera. While the quality of an image is lower. This camera came online fairly easily and has performed flawlessly. The cable length is generous. I had to get different mounts for my application, but they were easy to get.

Good choice if you’re in the ecosystem. Also I found it a bit annoying to set up too many steps. Also only one way to connect the cable it gets in the way in certain mounting positions. Good video quality.

Easy set up and the quality of the camera are good so many excellent features for a DIY camera and the quality of the audio is outstanding. Members are much better than my ADT cameras.

Super clear images and easy installation. Replaced a gen 1 and the difference between the two versions is tremendous.

Certainly an upgrade from the previous Outdoor Nest cam. The field of view is much larger, both taller and wider. Thats a most welcome addition. These are a smaller footprint than the older ones, which is nice. Last model's power cord and mount are not compatible, but a definite plus is the power cable is included here. Which is a savings of having to specifically buy the cable separately like in the past. Highly recommend. The AI feature is gimmicky and highly annoying - you'll disable that in the Home app after the first couple of days.

Camera was easy to install. It provides clear views of my backyard area. Looking at switching all of my cameras from Arlo to Google.

I added the Nest Cam Outdoor (wired) to my Google Home ecosystem and it was a wise decision. It was replacing a indoor/outdoor Nest Cam with battery option. I wish this model had that option. The 2K quality and wider viewing angle is a welcomed addition, and the integration with Gemini is seamless. The notifications are highly customizable and the performance is reliable. It's a great all around performer.

Excellent upgrade over the previous version. The 2k resolution is a solid improvement, and the Gemini AI is absolutely a step up in reducing false alerts and identifying the correct ones. Response time is faster as well. I do have one complaint: I had previously wired my house for the Outdoor/Battery versions, and, of course, Google changed the connections, so I had to rewire everything again. Google needs to create an adapter that can connect to the previous plugs, especially for outdoor cams that require a lot of hiding wires etc.
