This game is phenomenal. I get sucked into games every once in while but rarely for more than a week. Persona 5 is different. I put in over 135 hours into it in just over a month. I have a full time job and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night so almost 100% of my free time during that month was dumped into this game (in case you are wondering, I'm single so it didn't ruin any relationships, but it could have). I just couldn't put it down! I think one weekend I played for 16 hours straight and didn't even realize it until I checked the clock at it was 6 AM. The characters are very well written and fleshed out, with unique personalities that evolve as you get to know them better. It's amazing how entertaining doing mundane things like studying and taking a bath are in this game. These type of activities are how you boost your social stats, and you need social stats to build character relationships, and relationships are how you unlock battle perks and abilities. It's a wonderfully balanced system that encourages you to explore every aspect of the game. The time progression is also interesting and refreshing in this game. The battles are turn-based, which is common with JRPGs but the out of battle time is also turn based. You have a "block" or two of time per day where you can do things. Should you study and boost your knowledge skill? Or hang out with one of your friends and see if you can raise your friendship with them? Or do you craft items for your dungeon crawling adventures? The choice is yours, but you can only do one thing per block (with a couple of exceptions). This is a great system because it creates tension and urgency without being stressful or panic driven. And as the days tick by the story marches on, whether you have prepared properly or not. The art in this game is also very well done. It's polished, beautiful, and consistent. Even the menus feel like they are straight out of a high quality comic book. Music in this game is also great. Some of the songs are very catchy and there is enough variation and variety that even after over a hundred hours of playing I wasn't tired of the music. Bottom line: This game is amazing! If you have a PS4, BUY THIS GAME. This is one of the this generation's must-play titles. Bonus Fun Fact: Even though it was released April of 2017, when I popped it in to install it, no patches. Zero. This is so rare nowadays with multi-gigabyte day one patches and patches that are larger than the game install itself. I never encountered any bugs, either. Atlus made this game right the first time and deserve praise for that.

This is one of the best, if not the BEST game on PS4. Story and gameplay are both interesting and the anime cutscenes are done well. I recommend it for any anime fans and especially JRPG fans.

This is hands down one of the best JRPG games ever. With over 100 hours worth of gameplay, this game will keep you engaged with its fun battle system, awesome story and beautiful art style.

A banger game that everybody needs in their JRPG arsenal!

What a great game. Never been fond of JRPGs. I loved this game. Few games re ignite my passion and keep me playing for days straight. I logged about 80 hours in the first week. Have not played a game since FFX that made me so committed to keep going. Amazing art style, can be overwhelming at times. GREAT gameplay, nice to see turn based combat has not been forgotten. Cool cutscnes, just wish there was more and better paced throughout the game. An amazing soundtrack. Worth every penny. The Japanese audio was a great addition. I did not play it in English, I could not appreciate it as I did the jap audio.

New to the PERSONA series, never new what I was missing out of. Story is great and the combat is retro but new. Definitely a must have for the PS4 and it was on sale.

If you are familiar with Shin Megami Tensei and the series then you know the style and context of this storyline and the mechanics that have given it a cult following. Nocturne was my intro. to the series. Persona 5 has taken the series to another level of RPG that has polish to spare. What separated this game from others is the level of thought that went into certain aspects of the design and the sophistication. It isn't perfect and there were some missed opportunities to take animations up a notch with only a bit more variety. Still, expect to be heavily invested. This isn't a lightweight RPG. I am also playing Torment: Tides of Numenera which is also a mature RPG albeit a different sub-genre. Basically, buy this game if you enjoy investing in a game beyond some hack and slash dungeon crawl and like Japanese anime. You won't be disappointed. The beginning may seem hoaky but after the first 30 hours You will settle into this new slice of gaming reality and start to enjoy the deeper aspects of gameplay.

Persona 5 is an amazing game! It has amazing gameplay, amazing characters, an amazing story, and an amazing soundtrack! It's a must buy on PS3 or PS4.

This game plays super well and is so fun. It gave me my Persona fix after the large hole in my soul was left after finished P4G on my vita. xD

I was never a big fan of RPGs but the graphics were so colorful I decided to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. This game is a lot of fun!

This is my first Persona game and I am addicted. The style, music, high school simulator, and unique combat make this an excellent game.

This is my second SE game, after NieR Automata, but probably should have started with this one. Still, a very enjoyable game, with a different plot for an RPG. The controls take a little time to get used to. The graphics are still high level and the soundtrack is very, very good.

I was a big fan of Persona 4 Golden, and I think Persona 5 might be better. The major improvements to the dungeons make this a much more enjoyable experience. Dungeons used to be a slog that I dealt with in Persona 4 in order to get to the good characters and story, but Persona 5 is solid in every aspect. Combat is more stylish and snappy than ever. While I prefer the characters from Persona 4 I think there’s still a lot to love with the characters in Persona 5. A definite recommendation to anyone who has enjoyed a JRPG.

Deep story, with great game play. Mature themes littered with comic relief. Old style RPG dynamics and collection type gameplay mix to make a great experience. Be prepared for long story arcs, and hard themes. Casual short game play does not mix well with this 80+ hour game.

I always loved jrpg's ever since the PS1 but the genre hasn't been that great since mid ps3 generation. The social link simulator aspect of the persona series has kept me away from the series all this time but since I was looking for a good JRPG series I though I might as well give it a try after giving other series a try that I normally wouldn't touch. I still don't like the social link simulator part of the game but it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would on a first time playthrough. Very good story, character interactions, and gameplay, and especially presentation. Game even provides difficulty settings and a new game plus. Sank 180 hours into the game and came out loving it. I only regret one thing and its that I didn't get to fight the strongest boss in the game since it was locked behind new game plus. Great experience but I would not replay the game because of the social link simulator part of the game that eats up majority of your time. Still anyone who likes JRPGs should play this game.

Easily one of the best RPG's in years. The art, the music, and the story are all top notch. Great buy if you're into RPGs.

Having its Steelbook version is definitely worth it for a wonderful game like Persona 5 (bought Standard on sale for Controller Skin). Half Life Simulator, Half dungeon dweller with Turn-based RPG combat like Pokémon. This wasn't just a game to me, but an adventure. The story was awesome. I loved the seemingly accurate Tokyo setting. The game's soundtrack is super. And finally, I absolutely adore the characters. Each one has their own unique personality and I've gotten attached to many of them due to it being beneficial gameplay-wise. It's truly a phenomenal game. My 2017 Game of the Year. 100/10. Worth the full $60. The game takes at least 70-80 hours long just to complete the main story; about 200 hours to go for that Platinum Trophy.

I loved this game. The combat is smooth and fun. The music is phenomenal. Highly recommend this game if you like jrpg.

This game is so much fun. The storyline is such a cool idea and there are so many different things going on it.

Persona is back on Playstation and it's bigger and better than ever. If you have a JRPG itch here is your cure.
