When I first saw this game, I was confused as to how it was getting all these 9 and 10 scores from reviewers online, as the gameplay I had seen was pretty simple and uninteresting. But in the nearly 50 hours I've been playing it (about half way through the game), I can definitely confirm that it is indeed a game that deserves a 93 on Metacritic. It's got possibly the best soundtrack of any game I've played, as well as a great story and fun gameplay. The turn based combat can get a little dry in longer play sessions, but the overall flashiness and colorfulness of it keeps you watching. If anyone's not sure on whether or not to pick it up, I'd say it's definitely worth giving a chance.

I'm a big fan of RPGs. I've spent thousands of hours on them over the course of my life, and this is a pretty great one. The Persona series has an incredibly stylized design that definitely took some adjusting to, but it grew on me after awhile. It's very dialog heavy, moreso than most others, and the writers really take their time fleshing out the story and characters. It took me around a hundred hours to play through, so be prepared for a significant time investment. I'm looking forward to playing it again - someday. I played Persona 4 prior to this (the stories have nothing to do with one another) and it keeps with the same sort of battle system with some new features built in, and the dungeons are much more unique in their designs and layouts. I feel like fans of Japanese anime would absolutely love this, and if (like me) you're generally ambivalent towards that sort of thing, I'd still say to give it a shot. The story is weird and convoluted and unique and engaging.

The Persona series has always been a successful franchise. With Persona 5, you get a new fresh game. You do not have to play the other games. You are a student at Shujin Academy and you are your friends are trying to change the hearts of people. It’s a rpg with the best music I’ve ever heard in a video game. For example, “Life Will Change”. The best characters a game could ever have. And the best of all, the story. It can get very emotional, but it’ll keep you on your toes every time you play. The game has roughly 100 hours to beat, so you’re getting a game with a lot of content. Overall, the best game I’ve ever played.

If you like jrpg games, then this one is a must! Also, if you haven't played any of the previous Persona games, don't worry since each game is a totally different story. This is my second Persona game and I love it. It is also a good game to get into the series if you've never played a Persona game before.

Super fun game. There is a lot of stuff to do and you have to be careful how you spend your time cuz b4 you know it you have to progress the story fast. This game is really cool and flashy the art style is amazing. The character and his friends have good stories. This is one of those games im sure I will play again. Now I know why everyone is recommending this game, its amazing. I purchased this game from bestbuy because it said it would come with the controller skin. Sadly the game i got didnt come with it so im bummed out my copy of the game didnt have it when I opened it. I still recommend this game even if it doesnt come with it. Im having fun playing persona 5

If you are into turn based RPGs, this game is definitely for you. If you are into games overflowing with style and unabashedly doing their own thing, this game is definitely for you. If you are into anime, manga, or Japanese cinema in anyway, this game is definitely for you. Seriously. This is a great game. And while there is no denying it is a long one (80-100 hours for first playthrpugh), it never stops being fun, weird, crazy, and worth it.

This RPG has style oozing from every scene. It does have a lot of cutscenes, so if you're into constant action, this might not be it. However, the animation rivals any anime show and it's overall the best RPG experience of the year.

From the soundtrack to the story to the gameplay, It's a great game to have. You're really getting your money's worth with an initial 80+ hours of gameplay and a high replay value.

Having played Persona games since the PS2 era, it's been great to see the developer keep core mechanics, but also build out the gameplay and keep things enjoyable. The story, music and art are great- and I found the characters even more memorable than 3 or 4. The only knock, which for others may be a plus, is this game is long. Really long, it was still enjoyable after 80+ hours, and since you are racing against a school year to complete things, the time is welcome- but I would have been fine if the core game was 10 or even 20 hours shorter.

My first entry into Persona series. Only been playing about 1-2 hours of the game, so I'm still very early in the game. The starting of the game is kind of boring, but now the persona had been introduced, it's getting more interesting. The art style is pretty well done, and I love the fact that it's like playing an anime. Also, go download the japanese audio track, and play it like it's originally intended. I don't speak japanese, but love original track with subtitles.

This game follows the traditional JRPG elements established in Japanese RGP's, if you are into turned based games this is definitely the game for you. Being that this is Persona, expect a rich story and deep gameplay, Atlus spared no expense, game is truly amazing and well worth your time. Game has something for everyone, definitely a great addition to your collection and should entertain you for days/ weeks. **** Note, there is also an Anime companion, make sure you check that out as well.

This is a fantastic game: great story, great graphics, tons of secrets to unlock, clean mechanics. The only downside is that this thing has a VERY long introductory sequence with lots of mini tutorials before it gives you the freedom to explore or make significant choices, and you experience frequent (though short) cut scenes and non-interactive sequences during this long (introduction). it is at times more like watching a very good anime than playing a game, though it is clear that there will be a ton of game content once the introductory portion of the game ends.

Ive ben a persona. Fan since 3 so i might be a little bias but this is the best in the series gameplay and story wise great for anime fans and non anime fans 100 of hours of gamplay just make sure you have a guide handy you may even learn some stuff about japanese culture you play as the phantom thieves a robin hood like group thats as much as i can say as the rest woud spoil the story i would recomend checking out some youtube videos before diving in but if your a jrpg fan this should be a instant buy the story and gamplay are on par with games like witcher3

Been awhile since I’ve been so engaged in a game. No add-ons required to make this rpg amazing. Well thought out with 3 alternative endings and a storyline that’ll keep you engaged and guessing all the way through. Well worth it’s value

I'm not usually into this genre or Japanese games in general, but this game is so unique and has such excellent gameplay and plot I just couldn't put the controller down. Hundreds of hours of fun. You definitely get your money's worth.

I wouldn’t consider myself a jrpg guy, in fact, the last one I played to completion, was Super Mario RPG on the snes. (I know right?) With that said, this game absolutely stole my heart. This game’s art direction is dripping with style. Anyone who is into interested in the art design of games should pick this game up. Like I said, I normally don’t pick up jrpgs, but this game’s art really grabbed hold of me. The soundtrack is phenomenal as well. This game easily has the best ost of 2017. The only game that can hold a candle to this ost is probably Nier: Automata, which was another fantastic game of 2017. If you love amazing game music, pick this game up, you will not be disappointed. The only real issue I have, and it’s more of a nitpick really, is this game is not fully voice acted. You will be doing a fair amount of reading, so if that turns you off. . .blame our education system? All kidding aside, it’s not too bad, we’re not talking about something like the Yakuza series.(you better absolutely love reading if you’re jumping into that series) In conclusion, if you’re a fan of legendary game soundtracks and art design, pick this game up you will not be dissatisfied

I should say, "Hands down the best JRPG released on consoles in years!" as I don't really play many handheld games. As for the game though, it's a great place to jump into the series. As like the Final Fantasy series, this new entry has all new characters with and all new story, so you do not have to have played the previous entries to enjoy this one. Persona 5 also happens to be a lot more accessible than the previous game - plays well for long-time fans of the series and fans just jumping into the Persona series. Highly recommended!

Once you get past the big eyes though, composition's fairly pleasant, I do love red boxes. Also, this game took me about 96 hours to beat, that's kinda crazy. I recommend this version over the Steelbook. Because of the box.

This game pretty amazing. I have put about 20+ hours into it and i don't believe i got even got close to midway game. So far The story is great! I mean too be honest i am not a "hard" critic so my own personal opinion it has kept me entertained. This is a must for anyone that likes single player RPGS. JRPGs specifically. There is so many different things to do as well especially when you are not "palace hunting" Definitely as kept my attention and although i would love to rush through and beat it i am taking my time with it.

One of the best, most stylish and beautiful games I've ever played. From the menus to the music to the combat to the cutscenes and everything in between. Instant classic and must play for any fan of any of the genres it covers.
