5+ Star Rating On This Fantastic Ring Doorbell Pro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was quite pleased to receive this doorbell, especially since our first-generation Ring Wired Pro had recently experienced some minor glitches, despite still functioning. This model features Retinal 4K resolution for exceptionally sharp video, along with 10x zoom and color night vision thanks to its Low-Light capability. I particularly appreciate the night vision, as our previous doorbell only recorded black and white footage after dark. With the third-generation device, nighttime footage is vivid and colorful, though slightly less vibrant than during the day. The wider field of view is excellent ~ it captures my entire front porch, unlike the older model that only covered a section despite my attempts to adjust zones. The package included two mounting plates: one flat and one angled. Fortunately, the flat plate fit perfectly on the existing spot where our previous doorbell was mounted, so installation was as simple as using the 2 included screws. There was also a small wired white chime to place near your indoor doorbell chime (if you have one), but since we already own two Ring chimes at opposite ends of the house, this additional one was unnecessary for us. The build quality of this doorbell is impressive, which justifies the “PRO” label. While we currently use the Home Standard Plan, Ring also offers a Home Premium plan, providing 24/7 live monitoring with dispatch services if needed. The app includes an SOS button as well. Given our existing monitored security system, upgrading to Premium likely isn’t necessary. Installing the device was straightforward ~ even for someone without previous mounting holes aligned with the old doorbell. We simply turned off power to the old unit, connected the two wires carefully (avoiding contact between them), and completed the setup. Connecting the doorbell to the Ring app was effortless. I continued using the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, although this model also supports 5 GHz networks. Both the audible prompts and app instructions were clear and guided me through each step smoothly. After mounting it on the door frame, I configured my two external Ring chimes and adjusted various app settings to suit our preferences. The whole system was then ready to use and only took about 1/2 hour to complete. This doorbell combines an elegant appearance with flawless performance. In my opinion, this Wired Ring Doorbell Pro is unmatched ~ highly recommended!!

The Best Ring Yet, 4K Clarity & Low Light King
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K is the latest iteration of the Ring Doorbell offering ultra clear video, 10x zoom, and low-light sight for color night vision. It was finally time to retire the battery powered Ring Doorbell I've had for several years. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K is clearly the best video quality Ring has produced for a doorbell camera. - Unboxing/Design/Build - The Box and design are minimalistic. I noticed this new 3rd Gen Pro wired version feels a little slimmer and more compact and has a high-quality deep silver finish. The box includes the wired doorbell pro, a mounting plate, a corner kit (for angled mounting), the Chime Kit Mini, and mounting hardware, wire extensions, and screws. I love the deep silver color as it looks more subtle and inconspicuous. The doorbell is about 5.5” tall, 1” wide, 2” deep, and weighs half a pound. - Installation – I used a multimeter to test the voltage in my current doorbell. Installation was easy and took about 15 minutes. I screwed in the base plate and corner plate at the same time, pulled the doorbell wires though and wrapped them around the screws on the back of the doorbell after removing the plate with the ring tool. I tightened up the screws, put the plate back onto the Ring Doorbell Camera, and the tightened up the bottom screw. - Specs & Features – The Doorbell Pro Retinal 4K moves to 4K and Wi-Fi 6. The video resolution is 3840x2160 with HDR. The Field of view is 140 horizontal/vertical. There’s a 10x Digital Zoom. Night Vision is Low-Light Sight and Full-Color. There’s 3D motion detection and 2-way talk with Audio plus enhanced sound. Connectivity is Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax and covers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The power requirements are 16-24V AC and recommended 30-40V. The network requirement is 15 Mbps minimum upload speed. If you have anything near or below, it will most likely cause problems with live view and notifications. I have a 1GB connection speed, so this is more than enough. I do want to point out the recommended voltage is 30 to 40, and my doorbell was only 24 volts, some are as low as 16 volts. My doorbell operates just fine at 24 volts with no issues. - App – If you have any Ring products, you are familiar with the app. In my opinion, it’s the best app out there. It has a neighborhood community type feature that allows you to share your findings with your neighbors and create a sort of neighborhood watch. It’s also great for lost animals, and it looks like they’re going to have a focused separate part of the app for lost animals moving forward. The app will also guide you through the setup process with simple intuitive steps including setting up your motion alert area. It’s been very accurate so far with 3D radar motion detection. My Doorbell came with a 30-day trial of Premium. There are 3 subscription levels: Basic for $5 covers one device, 180 days of event history, video preview alerts, Person/Package/Vehicle alerts, Snapshot capture, downloading up to 50 videos at once Home Standard for $10 that covers all devices at one location, Extended live view, Doorbell calls, Multi-Cam live view Home Premium – Everything in Basic/Home Standard plus 24/7 Recording, Smart Video Search, Video Description, AI Single Event Alert, SOS Button and Dispatch - Performance – First of all, the resolution is incredible, and you will immediately notice the difference. The clarity and color are a huge upgrade from my previous Ring doorbell. I actually use the live view when my kids are out front playing to monitor them. The nighttime video Low-Light Sight is very good. The way it operates is it needs just a little bit of light to produce color video, such as a streetlight or a front porch light. On the first night my 19-year-old son had a food delivery at 3 in the morning that I slept right through, but when I woke up I saw the notification, and watched the video. I’ve had a few cameras in the past claim to offer 4K color video, but this one actually does, and it was much brighter than I expected. The 10x digital zoom is actually pretty good and again exceeds my expectations. I’m not sure if I could read a license plate at a full 10x, but the clarity is very good. * Pros/Cons * - Pros – * Exceptional 4K Video Quality * Motion Detection is accurate * Wi-Fi 6 gives you both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands * 2-way Audio is very clear * 140 degree field of view is really impressive - Suggestions/Needs Improvement - * No Local Storage, Must subscribe to a plan * Recommended 30-40VA is an upgrade in most homes * Minimum 15Mbps could be problematic for some Overall, the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K has excellent video resolution with a wide field of view that captures everything I need to see. It gives me another set of eyes at the front of my house 24/7. I would recommend this camera to anyone even those with an older Ring Camera. It’s easy to setup, it has exceptional video quality, and the software and app work well. Just make sure you have the proper voltage at the door, and at least 15MB of upload speed or more.

WOW amazing picture quality Big Update.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW what a crystal clear video. This replaces my older ring door camera i had for about 6 or 7 years. My front door faces south so i get direct sunlight on my door and on the ring camera and the videos come out so clean and clear. This has so much more than the 1st gen this works with 2.4 or 5 GHz. My last one only worked with 2.4 GHz so i always had to make sure i split the router. The camera is in 4K and you can tell it's in 4K the picture is so clear and in any light even with the outside lights off you can still see a full clean picture. I don't get all the alerts that triggered my last one like a car driving in the street would set it off. Even after i reset the the motion area. The voices come in clear and easy to understand. The set up was super easy and took no time for this to set up on the WIFI and do all the updates. It does have a ring mini chime kit that you wire to your doorbell chime box it's just 2 wires and a little white box that you can mount in the doorbell box. Mine didn't fit so i have it on top of the doorbell box i will update mine later. I like that you can customize the response if you can't get to the door like it's Monday night football can't get to the door or some other crazy sayings. Overall this is a truly big upgrade from the older Ring doorbells the picture quality is awesome this works with Alexa as this is a amazon product. The ability to have this work on 2.4 or 5 GHz is really great.

A quality upgrade in the Ring eceosystem
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been slowly upgrading my whole home security setup, and since I’ve already been running a full Ring ecosystem with the alarm system and a handful of older first-gen cameras, upgrading to the new Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd gen) was kind of inevitable. Those first-gen devices have honestly served me ridiculously well for years, so my expectations for this new doorbell were pretty high. Right from the unboxing, it was clear this thing was built on a different level. The doorbell has a solid, premium weight to it without feeling bulky, and the design is clean, minimal, and just genuinely good-looking on a front door. What I really appreciated was that the kit includes everything you need for pretty much any install style, whether you rely on the step-by-step flow in the Ring app or go old-school and read through the downloadable instructions. The wiring process itself was a breeze, literally just a two-wire hookup on the doorbell and the included chime. The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes from start to finish and instantly synced into my Ring app without any fuss. My only hiccup was that the included chime is a little bulkier than my old mechanical chime housing could accommodate, so I had to mount it above the existing spot, which isn’t ideal but not the end of the world. Once powered up, the Pro immediately justified the upgrade. The image quality is incredibly crisp, and the field of view is way wider than my old doorbell, so wide that I can see not just my front entry, but a good chunk of my driveway and front yard, and even a bit down the street. What stood out to me is how well it handles direct sunlight. My old Ring would wash out if the sun hit it just right, but this one keeps everything sharp, balanced, and natural looking. Night vision is equally impressive, giving a clean, detailed image without that hazy grain older models tend to struggle with. The included chime gets the job done, though I’ll admit the built-in Ring jingle is… loud. Like echo-through-the-house loud. There’s no option to change the tone or even soften it beyond a certain point, so I might eventually revert to my old non-smart chime just for a little more subtlety. The doorbell speaker itself, however, is great. The two-way talk is near instant with clear incoming audio and no distortion on my outgoing side either, and you can tweak the speaker volume in the app, which is super handy since it starts off a bit more aggressive than necessary. Overall, though, this upgrade genuinely hit the mark. It’s a big step forward in clarity, field of view, and responsiveness compared to the older models, and it feels like a security device built to last. If porch awareness and package visibility matter to you, the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd gen is absolutely worth the investment, especially if you’re already deep into the Ring ecosystem like I am.

A feature packed iteration of the Ring doorbell.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K for ultra-clear video, 10x Zoom, Low-Light Sight Summary: Sleek and feature packed iteration of the Ring doorbell. Use: We've installed various Ring Doorbell models over the years in all of our homes. Early iterations we're genuinely innovative. They brought accessible and fun new technology to the doorbell. It's hard to expect something as simple as a doorbell getting better and yet with every successive generation Ring accomplishes just that. Our new 3D printed home came with an older model of the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen). It performed well, but it was damaged because it was not installed properly. So, when the newest model, Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal was available we leapt at the opportunity. Replacing the old model required some prep work required as the footprint of the older model and this new one are different. Scan the device using the Add Device screen and just follow the instructions. This unit really shines in a few key areas in both form and function. If you haven't yet added a Ring doorbell to your home, or if you're on the fence between this and competing products, do yourself a favor and just buy this one. The Ring ecosystem is rich and offers a lot of accessible feature add-ons from home security to lighting, indoor cameras, and more. If 4K is a bit too much resolution for you, take a look at the 2K model. Pros: * Aesthetics. Form is beautiful. It looks svelte and modern particularly when compared to any of its siblings. * Camera. The new Retinal model defies expectations! The 4K camera offers a full view experience with unprecedented detail and no fisheye lens effect. Live View lets you pan up and down! You can view what is on the floor right in front of the doorbell as well as what is right above with simple swipe up and down gestures. * Software. The camera enables some cool software features that really stand out. Among my favorite is the new Birds Eye View. When enabled, it allows Ring to show you where on map the triggering subject appeared in the Event History. This is something you'll want to tune, just like the Privacy black out feature. As mentioned above, Live View now allows you to pan the camera up and down. The various Motion Zones allow you to enable notifications for Persons, Vehicle, Motion, or Package Delivery. This capability appears to be better than before and the speed at which notifications come in are much closer to real-time. The integration with services such as Alexa means you can opt to have Alexa Echo devices alert you to desired activities. * Installation. In true Ring fashion, installation is a breeze. Fewer tools are required and fewer physical hardware steps (i.e. no jumpers, no extra screw drivers, etc.). * Mini-Chime. The included Mini-Chime can be optionally installed into your existing doorbell chime box. This provides a physical hard-wired chime for doorbell presses. This potentially frees up your Chimes for other areas of the house further from the doorbell or if you happen to have your phone silences/off, etc. Cons: * Installation. It would have been nice to be able to skip the physical installation instructions and just take you directly to the software portion of adding it to your home, but this is just nitpicking. * Mounting bracket. At this point, because the available surface area to secure the doorbell to the mounting surface is so small, it would be nice to have a stronger mounting bracket (metal vs plastic). The difficulty of removing the doorbell is great, but with the curvature of this model, it is possible something could snag and stress the plate. A thought, not a an inevitability.

Great Video Quality, But AI doesn't yet Impress
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For over 5 years, we have had the Nest Doorbell (which has since been purchased by Google). We originally selected Nest for our doorbell because of its small physical size and its ability to recognize faces and packages. But, over the years, we grew tired of slow doorbell response and it's lack of compatibility with Amazon devices such as our new Echo Show 21. When we heard that the 3rd Gen Ring Camera has upgraded image quality as well as AI features...along with a smaller size - we thought it was time for an upgrade. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro is very nice, but it is far from perfect. I appreciate the smaller form factor (as the original Ring Doorbell was one of the largest and most unsightly). The 4K image quality is stellar, but only when viewed from the Ring App. When viewed through the Amazon Alexa App, or from the Echo Show 21 images appear grainy & pixelated. See my photos for an example of the difference. AI features are very limited at this point in time. Facial Recognition is not yet available (apparently due to privacy concerns). Not having facial recognition is odd since our previous Nest Doorbell had facial recognition for over the past 5 years. The feature is very much missed as it is nice to see from a simple notification that a specific person is waiting at the door. Hopefully this is added in the near future. Annoyingly, the Ring Doorbell isn't every controlled from a single place. Though Amazon owns Ring, users are still required to use both the Amazon Alexa App and also the Ring App. Also frustrating is that Alexa+ is not able to change settings when requested. She frequently tells the user to refer to either the Ring or the Alexa app. Currently settings are scattered across both apps and making changes frequently feels much more complicated than necessary. Initial set up is fairly simple and I appreciate that the app walks you through each step. I love that the Ring Doorbell can ring from all Alexa devices in the house (even older Echo Dot devices), but I very much dislike that the physical doorbell chime box can only play one chime (which for some reason I cannot stand). The default Ring Doorbell chime is all that is available unless you set the device to ring from your Alexa devices - which can play many different ringtones. Ultimately, we have turned off the physical chime because our dogs don't bark when a ringtone plays from our Alexa Devices. But, of course this comes with a caveat - that being that it take longer for the ringtone to play through Alexa devices compared to the instant chime from the physical box. So far, AI allows us to receive notifications that include a brief text description of what is happening at the door. For example, "Two men approaching the door with a brown dog", or "A woman has placed a package on the porch." And, with Alexa+, users are able to ask things like, "Who was the last person who rang the doorbell?"...to which she will respond by playing a video of the most recent doorbell interaction. Thankfully, the AI features feel useful and not creepy. I truly don't feel as though AI is spying on my family - which is how the feature sounded from advertisements. We'll see how the features change over time. Hopefully AI will continue to be useful, and not eerie. Ultimately, the 3rd Gen Ring doorbell is undoubtedly an excellent upgrade, but Amazon / Ring still has a long way to go to significantly improve settings and ease of use.

3rd Gen's a Charm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I feel like Ring read all of the feedback from the review of my last Ring Doorbell (Wired) and put it into this Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd Gen 4K, because they checked nearly every box and issue I still had while also improving on nearly everything that makes Ring so popular. Let's start with what I love about this new edition. My last Ring doorbell was the Battery Doorbell Pro. The features were great over my first Ring Video Doorbell Pro, my only major complaint was how big, bulky and frankly, ugly it was. The Wired Doorbell Pro along with all of this year's 4K designs really give Ring devices a much needed facelift and the results are AWESOME. Not only is this 3rd Gen nice and thin and curved, while still maintaining the distinctive Ring look, but the actual mounting plate is now thin enough to fit perfectly on the door trim on my front door. Even the 1st Gen Pro which was thin, used to overhang slightly. The new shape is amazing and the color looks premium as well. Not only does it look great, the new 4K retinal camera is also a huge and surprising upgrade over the already very good 2K which gave more vertical view so that I could see packages. Not only can I see packages still, but I have a wider FOV with less fishbowling and zero circular vignetting and I can see my entire porch. All at an increased 4K resolution! Outstanding upgrade and worth the upgrade with the face lift. Also in the live view, there is an indicator for bandwidth usage and connection quality, you'll see green = good, red = weak, initially when data is streamed and catching up I can see 10-15Mbps and then it drops down to 2Mbps or so in live view. You still get the same great features of Ring like live pre-roll, which means the recording will capture the previous seconds before an event was detected so you don't catch only the back-end of an event. You also get access to the cloud and a new feature is you can choose to get a Call from Ring when an event is detected, which is a neat feature that allows you to answer and speak to a person at your door as if it was a phone call. Very cool feature. Some may ask why Ring, why pay a subscription? I'm on the Ring Standard Plan and have been for years and the main reason is for convenience and sharing with my wife. Also, while I'm a technical person with all the requisite equipment to do all of this myself to a private NAS and a private weblink to access away from home, I frankly don't want to deal with it all the time and for other people too. Ring just makes it easy. Share the app, share camera permissions, and they can set how they view the content on their phone. I also have the Ring Pro which allows me to record more locally to an SD card if I choose. Also, Ring gives a 10% discount and Extended Warranty, and I can connect as many Ring devices to my Plan without having to spend more per device. I've actually used the Warranty before and they gave me credit and half off a new device. Also, the hardware tends to be better quality in terms of both the device and the quality of footage and software interface than some of the free options. Again, your experience may vary but for us it all just works and we also integrate into Alexa throughout our house. For $100/yr its a small expense to be able to watch and monitor around my house, watch my kids in the back yard when I'm working. A few things to note, I didn't take stars off but you should be aware of these potential issues. You will need a transformer that provides enough power. I'm still using the same 18v/30A transformer I installed with my original Ring Video Doorbell Pro and it works perfectly with this 3rd Gen and the Ring app says it is Level 1 Power Output and transformer is strong and well equipped to power new features (Check screenshot). This 3rd gen will not activate your existing mechanical chime. It likely does not provide enough power, unlike previous units which could activate the indoor chime. Ring provides a Mini Chime that you can connect to your physical Chime which is basically just a little speaker. I just kept the original chime pro unit in place, which does nothing now, but I still get a chime/notification to all of my Alexa/Echo devices so this isn't a problem for me. The security screw/mechanism isn't as good as previous devices where you had a torx screw on the bottom that prevented easy tampering. With the 3rd gen they provide a little plastic tool to pop off the cover, which then accesses a simple phillips head screw that holds the doorbell to your mount plate. You can easily use a screwdriver to pop off the cover and with a phillips head someone could make off with your doorbell. This is apparently the same unit that is compatible with PoE as it has a USB-C connector in the back that can connect to a PoE adapter for power. It sounds like networking still uses WiFi however, but I am not 100% sure on this. I had no issues with signal strength and response is fast using just the Ring Pro as my Access Point with WiFi6. I keep all of my Ring devices on the Ring Pro to limit network collisions and to also save additional footage locally. The face of the unit is still plastic, which is likely to wear or possibly break over time. There also isn't multiple face plates like the 1st Gen Pro unit I bought. I can understand not having as much in the box, but I would've liked to have seen a more premium material being used. That said, I'm very very happy with this new Ring Doorbell update. It is awesome to look at and the new 4K display and wider FOV without fisheye makes it easy to see both visitors and packages in crystal clear high resolution. It really is like having another camera in front with the excellent motion detection.

Easy install, big footprint, great feed.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro delivers a noticeably refined experience in both video quality and day-to-day use. The camera produces a clear, crisp image with much less distortion than typical ultra-wide doorbell lenses. The feed has a natural look, the zoom function stays sharp, and the inclusion of a live bitrate counter is a surprisingly helpful addition for monitoring connection stability. Installation & Fitment Installation is straightforward, especially if you’ve worked with doorbell wiring before. The included hardware is well organized, but the plate design assumes there’s enough space behind the mounting surface for wire nuts. Anyone with a small opening or short copper leads may need to secure the wires directly to the screw terminals instead, which works just as well. The footprint is on the larger side for a wired doorbell, and depending on your home’s trim or molding, you may need to address small cavities or exposed areas left behind from a previous device. A thin strip of weatherproofing or a small paint touch-up may be required to get a clean, sealed installation. The chime adapter installs easily. Using the adhesive backing keeps the install neat without changing the look of the doorbell box. Power Requirements This doorbell does require a 16–24V AC transformer so it’s worth checking your existing transformer to avoid setup issues. Once properly powered, the device runs reliably with no drops or restarts. Faceplate & Physical Security The faceplate attaches using a simple pry-tool design. It’s very quick to remove—almost too quick. While that makes maintenance easy, it also means there’s minimal resistance for someone trying to access the setup button. Whether that matters depends on how visible or reachable your doorbell is, but it’s something buyers should be aware of. App Integration & Setup Setup through the Ring app is smooth and intuitive. Wi-Fi configuration takes only a few minutes, and the system detects proper power automatically. If you're replacing an older Ring, be aware that installing a new doorbell means removing the old one from your account (unless you are relocating your old one), which permanently deletes any stored footage. Overall Impression The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro delivers strong, reliable performance with excellent video clarity, cleaner distortion handling, and a fast, responsive interface. Installation is approachable, though certain homes may need small adjustments for a perfect fit. The faceplate design is easy but not particularly secure, which is worth noting. As a whole, this is a polished, high-quality doorbell with great image quality and a smooth software experience. It feels refined, responsive, and easy to live with day to day.

Great doorbell camera with a few caveats
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros * Significantly better video quality than previous Ring Doorbell Cam Pro models * Compact and sleek design that can fit in tight spaces * Easy installation * Ring app is excellent Cons * Cannot ring existing doorbell chime * While video quality is significantly better compared to past Ring Doorbell Pro models, it does not appear to be full 4K resolution and is compressed to some degree * Requires subscription to get recordings * No local storage of videos The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd Generation is a significant improvement over previous Ring Doorbell Pro models in terms of video quality. It is great to see that Ring has finally added 2K and 4K options to their lineup. While this doorbell is an improvement and a great doorbell overall, there are some caveats with it that I think are important to be aware of. This doorbell does not support ringing your existing home doorbell chime. I was surprised to discover this upon setting up this doorbell, as my previous Ring Doorbell Pro’s always had this feature, and I had come to expect that functionality with the Ring Doorbell Pro lineup. It seems that this doorbell does not support the existing chime due to power requirements of the higher resolution camera. With the lack of support for your existing doorbell chime, Ring included a Chime Kit Mini that you can install at your existing chime box. The Chime Kit Mini plays Ring’s doorbell chime when the doorbell is pressed. While it is better than nothing, it just isn’t as good as regular doorbell chime. I really wish Ring could have figured out a way to allow us to use our existing chime, and I hope they will re-evaluate this in the future. I also wish there was a way to customize the ring tone on the Chime Kit Mini, as I would prefer a traditional doorbell sound to the Ring Doorbell chime that it has. For me, the lack of existing doorbell chime support is the biggest con of this doorbell, although I think it is a compromise that is worth making for the better video quality. Another caveat to be aware of is that while this doorbell advertises being 4K, the video does appear to be compressed and not full 4K resolution. Again, it is significantly improved over previous models, but it could be better. That being said, I am sure that Ring had to make some compromise on the quality due to this doorbell operating over WiFi and only having so much bandwidth over a wireless connection. If you want full 4K resolution without compression, I expect that you would need to look at a doorbell that is fully hardwired with Power over Ethernet and local video recording options. As usual with Ring products, this doorbell was very easy to install, and the app is very easy to use and intuitive, and it offers many features. I tested out another doorbell option this year that did not require a subscription and offered local recording, but the app and features were far inferior to what Ring has to offer. I wish there were an option to record locally without a subscription on Ring products, but I find that their superior app and integrations makes the monthly cost worth it compared to other options on the market. With the removal of traditional doorbell chime support on this model, I am removing one star from my rating. But, overall, this is an excellent video doorbell that I would recommend to others. Very glad that Ring finally has 2K and 4K options on their doorbell cameras!

The Best Ring Doorbell I’ve Used Yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Ring Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) for about a week now, and it has been fantastic so far. I upgraded from the original Ring Doorbell Pro (1st Gen), and the improvements are obvious right away. Installation gave me a little trouble, but it was entirely due to my house. I have 4-inch siding, which makes the doorbell hang off awkwardly. I had to order a mount on Etsy to make it work. I actually had to do the same thing with the first generation model. If you have a flat surface to mount it on, you will not run into this issue. Setup was mostly smooth. The doorbell connected to my guest Wi-Fi right away but refused to join my main network until I reset my router. Not a major issue, just slightly annoying. The Chime Kit was the part that bothered me the most. It installed easily, but it replaced my mechanical chime with a cheap, high pitched tone that cannot be changed. Ring does sell other options like the Ring Chime Pro plug in, but since almost nobody comes to my door, it is not a dealbreaker for me. I mainly use the doorbell for security. Once everything was installed and running, this device really impressed me. The 4K video is a huge upgrade from the older 2K models. Footage looks incredible in the daytime and at night. I really like that Ring fixed the old fisheye look. The image is clear, natural, and stays crisp even when digitally zooming up to 10x in the app. The Ring app is very easy to use, and talking to someone at your door works without any trouble. One of my favorite features is Smart Responses. We get a lot of solicitors selling solar panels, so I set the doorbell to say “Sorry, we are not interested.” It makes me laugh, and I cannot wait to see someone react to it. I plan to switch to a more polite message later, but I need to see the first reaction. There are a lot of Smart Responses to choose from, including fun Thursday Night Football themes. I also like how the app brings all Ring devices together. We have full 360 degree Ring camera coverage around the house, and this doorbell adds another layer of protection and peace of mind. Motion settings are very customizable, and you can block off areas you do not want the camera to capture, like a neighbor’s property. Even though the setup had a few bumps, which were mostly caused by my house, I am extremely happy with this upgrade. The video quality alone is miles ahead of the older models. This is easily a top tier video doorbell, and I am glad I picked it up.

BIG upgrade from my existing Ring Doorbell!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have a 2019 Ring Video Doorbell Pro which offered solid 1080p HD video, basic motion detection, and two-way talk and has worked well for me. However, today I picked up the current Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) - which delivers a huge leap with Retinal 4K video, AI-powered alerts, radar-based 3D motion detection, and advanced low-light color vision. In short: the 2019 model was reliable, but the 3rd Gen is a premium, modernized device with sharper video, smarter detection, and sleeker design. PROS • Crisp 4K video quality with zoom • Improved night vision with color in low light • Radar-based motion detection reduces false alerts • Slim, modern design with customizable faceplates • Works with Alexa and IFTTT CONS • The one the bothered me the most is the internal doorbell attachment. In this version, it’s too large to fit under the existing doorbell housing in my home – so it has to sit on top. The previous version fit inside the housing and was hidden. See Picture and this is why I gave 4 vs 5 stars. • No local storage option • Subscription required for full functionality • Higher price compared to competitors offering 2K/4K with local storage KEY DIFFERENCES EXPLAINED (between 2019 and current version) • Video Quality: The jump from 1080p to 4K is massive. The 3rd Gen can zoom up to 10x and capture fine details like logos or license plates, while the 2019 model was limited to basic HD clarity. • Motion Detection: The 2019 relied on camera-based zones. The 3rd Gen uses radar-powered 3D motion detection, reducing false alerts and letting you map zones more precisely. • Night Vision: The older Pro only offered infrared black-and-white night vision. The 3rd Gen adds color night vision in low light and adaptive black-and-white vision in total darkness. • Smart Features: The 2019 Pro was functional but basic. The 3rd Gen adds AI-generated event descriptions (“Person at door,” “Package detected”), smarter notifications, and better integration with Alexa/IFTTT. • Connectivity: The 2019 model was limited to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The 3rd Gen supports dual-band Wi-Fi including Wi-Fi 6, improving reliability and speed. • Design: The 3rd Gen is slimmer, sleeker, and offers more customizable faceplates compared to the older satin nickel-only finish. BOTTOM LINE If you already own the 2019 Ring Video Doorbell Pro like me, it’s still serviceable for basic HD monitoring. But the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) is a major upgrade—especially if you want sharper video, smarter alerts, and better night vision. For homes where detail and reliability matter (e.g., package theft prevention, monitoring visitors at night), the 3rd Gen is worth the investment.

Top Notch Video Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 3rd Gen Wired Ring Doorbell Pro replaced an existing Ecobee doorbell. The Ring doorbell is leaps and bounds better than the Ecobee. The field of view is outstanding, and it quickly detects people and packages at my front door. The clarity of the video is excellent. The nighttime video is in black and white, but it is also excellent, and you can see about 10 to 15 feet even in complete darkness. There is only about a 1 to 2 second delay between motion at the doorbell and notifications on my iPhone. It was 10 to 15 seconds on my previous Ecobee doorbell. Installation of the doorbell and setup in the Ring app was easy. The doorbell did not work with my existing mechanical chime, but it came with a small chime that fit into my chime box and wired into the wiring terminals of my chime. The chime is loud enough and did an adequate job of replacing my mechanical chime. The Ring doorbell comes with a free 30-day trial of the Home Premium Plan. The Premium Plan is fairly expensive, and I plan to subscribe to the Basic Plan, once my free trial is up. I wish it was cheaper, but I did enjoy the 24/7 video recording and the generative AI text descriptions of motion events (e.g., “A brown Amazon box is placed on the porch.”). The AI text descriptions of motion events were surprisingly accurate. I just wish this feature was included in the lower cost plans. Overall, this is the best video doorbell that I have ever owned. It has excellent video quality, smart motion detection, and responsive performance. Highly recommended.

Huge upgrade from Pro Gen 1
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally retiring my Gen 1 Pro with the latest Gen 3 Pro. The increased resolution from 1080 to 4k is bonkers and the field of view increase is a must have. Super easy to install. Flip the breaker, remove the old doorbell or video doorbell, take the two wires and insert them into the new Gen 3 unit, and finish setup with the Ring app. Gen 3 doesn’t work with existing doorbell ringers in your home so you will need to bypass the original ringer and install the provided digital ringer. Super easy to do via app step-by-step and I don’t miss the home original ding-dong. All your alexa enabled devices will also ring when the doorbell is pressed so no worries on missing a ring. What I love about the latest generation is that the quality of video is mind blowingly sharp. You can pinch to digital-zoom with a lot of detail. Night time is bright and the added radar feature is a nice added benefit. The radar marks the path that the person took before ringing your doorbell. Nice to know if they peeked in your windows before pressing the ringer. In summary, its hard to beat Ring’s latest gen 3 pro doorbell. The 4k resolution, ability to change colors of the faceplate to match your home, and the app associated is more than enough to choose Ring over others. The standard plan is more than enough for me but installing the new doorbell activated premium plan for 30 days. The premium plan includes automatic police calls and AI video descriptions. The AI video description is nice when you just want a short text that tells you what tripped the motion alert instead of actually reviewing the video.

These Ring Doorbell cameras are great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had an older model Ring camera for quite a few years now so I figured it was time to upgrade. This one being 4K and having some additional features really did shine compared to our old ring camera. Installation as with most of their products was pretty straightforward and the app does a really nice job walking you through getting it connected and set up. Based on how you're mounting it I highly recommend the corner mount angle piece that allows the camera to better see your front porch. I find this gives you a better view of your front porch as well as your driveway and even the street depending on how your house is set up unless the wall you're mounting on is flat facing towards the street and your porch to be able to have a clear view. It came with everything necessary to install it and configuring it through the app and connecting to it via my phone was very seamless. You can customize different greetings and it even has holiday greetings based on what the season is to add some charm to greetings and messages when you are not home. It also comes with the necessary chime box to replace the hard wired one most homes come with or you can purchase the separate WiFi doorbell chime they gave which is what we have. Pros - Compact and easy to install - 4K video quality - Ease of setup in the app - Integration with Alexa Cons - No battery backup, entirely dependent on hard wiring - limited functionality with Google home Overall these Ring cameras and other Ring devices are great to provide simple smart home functionality that anyone can install and setup.

Ruined by compression
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring, the original smart doorbell, has updated their top-of-the-line Ring Pro to a new version, the Ring Pro V3. It promises several interesting updates over its predecessor, including 4k video and enhanced wireless. Does it deliver? Lets take a look. In the box, you’ll find everything you need to install the doorbell, including a corner angle kit, which is useful. If you have installed a Ring before, you’ll find everything to be pretty familiar here and the app guides you through the install with easy to follow instructions. It’s also handy that the screw holes for the corner kit aligned to my old Pro V1 corner kit, which made install even easier. One thing to note here – this version of the Ring Pro will disable your doorbell chime. It comes with a “chime mini” that can be wired into the existing chime’s wiring, and it makes the “ding dong ding” classic Ring sound when the doorbell button is pressed. Once installed, the app does a good job guiding you through some of the new features of the doorbell, such as defining some of the detection options. I found the “birds eye” mode, while easy to set up, to have too short of a range to cover much of my yard and entry with a short 30 foot range. You can also set up a “package zone” to detect packages, which did work well for picking up when deliveries were made. Once it was all ready to go, it’s time to test this thing….. and frankly results were mixed. Field of view vs my old V1 pro is much better, as is the color night vision. Video resolution is somewhat better, but completely destroyed by the incredibly aggressive video compression. I cannot emphasize this enough. This is a premium product with a required subscription to record videos, and the compression is so high on the video that you cannot clearly make out a face standing on your porch at night about 3 feet away from the Ring, and even in full daylight details are lost. A 4k sensor is useless if the video is macroblocked and blurry, and Ring needs to figure this out. Their advertised “10x zoom” is just zooming in on a blurry mess. It’s incredibly disappointing and video from other 2.5k and even FHD cameras I have is as good or better due to less aggressive compression. Wifi connection is also not an issue, as it shows a strong 5Ghz connection to my WiFi access points. Even downloaded and live view videos have this issue, so it is not just limited to streaming the video from the cloud, it appears to just be the quality of video that the service provides. While there are some improvements here over my V1 Pro, such as improved color night vision, package detection, and better detections of events (people, vehicles, etc), until Ring figures out the video quality issues I cannot recommend this version. There is great potential here in the hardware, but it is completely lost due to the aggressive video compression and the extra price for the Pro is not worth it vs other Ring doorbells or competitor’s products.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from Ring
Posted .Hi Keyan.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3nd Gen.) to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the video quality concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not operating as intended. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. Identify and troubleshoot what is causing connectivity issues for Ring devices to give you the best possible video and audio experience.
To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. For our 4K models, a minimum upload speed of 15 Mbps is recommended, and video resolution may vary depending on internet bandwidth. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. This device helps to extend your wifi signal to boost the network for all your Ring Video Doorbells and Cams.

Worth to upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded from the original Ring Pro to the new Pro 4K, and the difference is immediately noticeable. The video quality is incredibly sharp faces, packages, even small details are crystal clear. Motion alerts are faster and more accurate, and the HDR handles lighting way better than before. Setup was quick, and the app feels smoother. I also appreciate the improved privacy features. Overall, it feels like a premium upgrade that actually delivers.

Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Generation)
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Generation) and overall, I’m very satisfied so far. The video quality is excellent, the two-way audio works clearly, and the motion detection has been reliable. Installation was also straightforward. The only downside I’ve noticed is a slight delay in receiving notifications when someone is at the door. This may be related to my internet connection, which I am currently working to improve. Once I optimize my network, I will update my review to reflect any changes in performance. So far, it’s a great device and a solid addition to my home security setup.
