The M4 Pro is an upgrade from my previous M2 Pro and so far I can say that I'm very impressed with the new model. The size is tiny compared to the M2 model but very quick and is in fact more powerful than the M2 Pro. That's not to say there aren't some challenges in getting it. First, there are no USB-A ports, they're gone. If you have legacy equipment that use USB-A ports then you will either have to use a hub or use an adapter. I bought an adapter for my Apple SuperDrive so that it can connect directly to the Mini which is the only way it'll work. Second, I have a HD, a webcam and a printer that need USB-A ports. I have 2 HUBs that have internal storage made for the M2 Mac Mini but are still usable with the M4 Mac Mini. Everything works just as it should. All in all I'm very pleased with the new M4 Mac mini. For my needs it is overkill but that also means I won't feel the need to upgrade for a very long time, if ever.

The Mac Mini M4 Pro is straight-up a sleeper powerhouse. As a comedian who also edits video, records podcasts, and manages a bunch of projects, this thing handles it all without breaking a sweat. Final Cut Pro runs like a dream — even with multiple camera angles, effects, and audio tweaks happening at once. It chews through exports like it’s bored. The best part? It’s dead silent. No fans kicking in, no heat pumping out — just smooth, quiet performance. That matters when I’m recording voiceovers or working late at night and don’t want a jet engine on my desk. I pair it with my Sony ZV-1 and an ATEM Mini or use OBS with a plug-in that records each source separately, and it handles all that without flinching. No hiccups, no lag, just clean workflow from start to finish. If you want desktop-level power without the bulk or the Mac Studio price tag, the M4 Mac Mini is a no-brainer. It’s compact, cool, and crazy fast — perfect for content creators, performers, or anyone who needs pro tools in a clean setup.

Switched from using a Windows based (Core I9/RTX 3080) to this for music production. Absolutely awesome machine. No noise at all. Handles everything perfectly.

Whisper quiet machine that is a powerhouse. I use the Mac mini mostly to build iOS apps with Xcode as well as some small production projects with Logic Pro X. This gets the job done and then some. I know they say the base model Mac mini is great, but I'm so glad I got this one. 24 months financing through Best Buy is a no brainer.

Great performance in a tiny little package. Huge improvement over the M1 Mac mini especially in heavy duty tasks. Slightly larger in size than the Apple TV. Built-in power supply.

Love this new mac mini! Its a BEAST in such a small box! (5 x 5 x 2 inches) I highly recommend this! Can easily take this anywhere on rhe go.
Coming from a 2010 Mac Pro this is a dream. More than enough power. I probably should have went with the base model.

So far, so good. Although, either FedEx or Best Buy had an issue with shipping because the box showed up damaged and the bottom of the machine was popped out in two places. Other than that, machine runs flawlessly and really helps my workflow!

I wanted to move away from laptop but still wanted something smaller than a full desktop.

This is my first mac as a longtime windows user- this machine is used exclusively for audio engineering/music production. No matter how many tracks, plugins, virtual instruments, etc I have going at the same time (Ableton live 12 + apollo x4), I have not been able to slow this thing down. This is a crazy powerful computer, especially for the physical footprint. Downsides: Only one hdmi out- you'll need a hub/dock or adapters to use multiple monitors, and none of the options for this are even remotely cheap No usb-a ports No upgrade capability for memory or internal storage, versions with more of either or both skyrocket the price (pro tip, pair this with the satechi stand & hub with the nvme enclosure) Overall a big ole 9/10 for me, it's a powerhouse.

I upgraded my Mac Studio M1 to this M4 Pro Mac mini. For my use cases this computer seems a bit faster and I haven't missed a thing from my old Mac Studio. I love the small size and light weight. I never hear the fans on this unit as it runs whisper quiet (even when the fans are spinning). Running Mac OS on this unit is buttery smooth. Have not had any issues/lockups since I spun this up. I restored a backup from my MacBook Pro and saved all of those setup nightmares. Love this computer!

Fantastic value for what you get in this little package. You will need a hub if you need extra ports for Thunderbolt/USB C, etc...but that is a given for any computer nowadays. Super easy setup, everything transferred over from my iMac (of which I had for over 12 years...and its still running!!!). Can't go wrong with this little puppy...throw anything at it...I dare you! I double dare you! You won't be disappointed!

This is a great machine as far as power, speed, memory, etc. go. However, there are many issues and inconveniences. First. Mac desktops are just inconvenient in general. Using dual monitors is a pain. You can’t go full screen without changing settings and jumping through hoops. The desktop interface is so annoying unless you buy their awful keyboard (the least ergonomic keyboard on the market) and their awful mousepad (same). Moreover, the screen randomly twitches and tweaks out. Boxes appear. The sleep function is HORRIBLE. It has trouble going to sleep; trouble waking up; wakes up instantly upon the slightest movement or noise at times; won’t sleep with ANY program remotely related to video running; etc. It’s fast. It can handle a lot of work at once. But it is a pain in the you know what. I love my MacBook. Wish I got a PC for my desktop, though. Overpriced nonsense.

As fast it's small and it's got the best speed of seen yet it is quiet and just doesn't get hot.
