Theres a know problem with the google Home nest hub. Sounds like a software bug that makes your device completely unusable. I contacted them and they are aware of the problem and are “unable” to do anything about it, however , they continue to sell them knowing they have this issue. Sounds like the issue affects the google home nest hub first and second gen . For now second gen is covered, you just have to hope its not past the one year warranty.

I despise this thing. I had thought it to be a sort of Google assistant, like my previous assistant speakers I guess, no, much to my surprise, it doesn't understand anything I say to it or ask it, it just wants to look everything up on the web and give me random and what seems to be deliberately irrelevant search results.

Biggest piece of crap ever made! Won't even follow any of the Google routines!!! I would have expected Google and made something that's not a piece of junk. Can't figure out why Google routines won't even be followed when it says that it does do Google routines but every morning my alarm goes off and it refuses to follow any of the routines and won't turn my lights on won't play music it's just a waste of time and money do not buy this piece of junk!

This is a huge problem for me. The previous version has no problem. I say the same command and my movie will play. Except very choppy bc it is a dated model. Would LOVE to see this error worked out. The previous model would have gotten a 5 star review.

Hi aimstaind, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, and we’re sorry to learn of your poor experience with the performance of your Nest Hub (2nd gen).
Your Nest display could be having trouble connecting to Google, and these simple steps may clear this issue out:
- Check your Wi-Fi network for possible congestion. Relieving some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
- Check the distance between the Nest display and your router. Ensure that it is within a line of sight from your router.
- Check for wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or appliances and devices nearby.
- Restart Nest display and router to refresh the connection.
- Reset your Nest display. On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.
We’re always looking for ways to create a better experience, and your feedback counts. And if you’d like to get in touch with us for additional assistance, you’ll find our contact details using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

When the device has no internet connection, it is unable to tell the time at all. What's the point of one of the core features of this device is to display the time? When your cellphone loses all connection, does it stop telling or showing you the time? No. There's no reason why this device cannot do the same.

This thing rebooted itself 3 times after first scanning it's QR code. Google has left me stuck in a security boot loop. Locked out of what I thought was my own account. An Assistant who recognizes my daughter's voice, but tells me to go to the Google Home App to program and give it permission. Knowing fully well that I've been unable to do so. I'm treated as an unrecognized guest in my own home and on my own devices. Samsung and Google partnered yet competiting against each other & far from on the same page with it's customization services. I talk to it on my Android Pixel 10 & it responds on the Hub currently to go into it's Home App knowing full well that I cannot do so. Google is trash. I lost my nearly decade long career as a result of too much tech gone wrong, and no humans to be found. Best Buy had me call across the world to stand in line amongst many others for my 20 minute appointment window with a tech expert who seemed to know less than I. After being in Developer Mode on Google's original Pixel Fold and working on several work/learning endeavors; Google refuses to escalte me to Tier 2 Support. Google makes it seem as if I were trying to circumvent it's policies when genuinely looking for help & wanting a real person to trouble shoot with. Now I've got broken Samsung Chromebook Pro, broken Google Pixel 10 & broken Hub while my number of accounts continues to multiply Geminis Gboard instantly bumped me back a screen and I'm sure will most likely delete this review from being publish. Google has caused me to miss my daughter's bus pick up after texting my sister "Hi. I am the bus, and my AT&T calls routed away from me. It's a scary reality that I don't even own the devices which were bought and paid for by me. What a time to be alive!

I used to have a gen 1 Nest hub and it worked great at my last apartment. So much that when I moved to my new place I left that one with ny sister and purchased a new one. After a few months I have come to regret that decision. This thing constantly loses connection to the internet, and even when it is connected it will still tell me that there was an issue when I tell it to do anything. I have other google home devices that give me no issue so I don't understand why this is the only one that refuses to work properly.

This was my 2nd Nest Hub. My 1st one died after coming back fr a trip. The screen turned black like it blew up or something. So ended up purchasing a new Nest Hub. Picked it up, installed it, and come to find out it did the same thing. Idk what is happening with this product. Also, I always have a hard time when connecting to a new wifi. It always making me reset the system to factory setting and all my saved settings and photo's will get erase and have to reload everything back again.

Overall, terrible for "smart" features. Purchased during Black Friday/ Holiday sale, and not even worth it at that price, let alone full price. 'Hey Google' is painfully slow, many seconds of delay shown by the "live" transcription of your query. It often doesn't even respond to the wake phrase "Hey Google" fast enough to catch your whole question, so if you repeat yourself you end up asking Google a duplicate question. The processor is most likely to blame, as even using the touchscreen is noticeably laggy, with delayed reactions, and stuttering animations. You'll often have to repeat touchscreen gestures because it just wont respond accurately. It can't even animate sliding photos or menu options smoothly. Then it goes onto the smart features, If you want to pair it with a compatible camera, Arlo for example, it takes ages for it to load. And you have to say "Camera" as part of the word, such as "Hey Google show me the Doorbell Camera" not just "Doorbell" which it can't understand and brings up a Google websearch for "Doorbell". A cheaper, but smaller 5" Gen 2 display from a competing brand handled this much better with way faster response times, and you can just say "Hey -----, show me the Doorbell" and it shows. Also when the camera did show, it was way more 'washed out' compared to the competitor, and a much lower frame rate as well. Accessing the manual smart home features for light controls and other smart home integrations was much better than the competitions, however the slow response times of the device basically made those integrations useless. Really the only thing great about it was its ability to show your Google Photos, especially if you auto sync your phone photo gallery automatically with Google Photos. It offers a hands free slideshow, that almost appears curated. You dont have to manage photo albums, or uploading any photos manually, it just shows what you've already synced. I've factory reset it a couple of times, and made sure it was on the latest firmware, but online reviews have commented on its poor performance from many months ago, so I have no hopes it will be fixed soon. So I've returned it. Overall, its a pretty good photo display (for those using Google Photos) but an awful smart display.

This is the worst display in the world. 95% of the time Google cannot get what I ask it to do correctly. Then it uselessly searches for results on the web when I just asked it to spell a word! Can never turn my lights on or off when I ask it to it always can't find my device. the worst part is all devices are in my Google home app

This is so disappointing, the screen failed after 1 year and 5 months. We place this hub in the living room and set up our Google photos as a photo frame, and use it occasionally for voice assistant. Even with this light use, the screen still fail after such a short time. The issue is, the screen shifted all the way to the right and i can only see less than one inch of the frame, the rest of the screen is now black and distorted. Look up the warranty, sure enough manucacturer warranty is only one year, so no repair or replacement. Basically a junk now, i DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

Was good while it lasted, but the display manufacturer they chose is poor and the screen degrades over time. Google support will not help you if the screen dies outside of the 1-year warranty so you're basically buying these once a year. 2 if you're lucky.

I got this to replace Alexa which I had been using for years because Alexa does not have a good list app that you can use with an iphone. you have to use the Alexa app itself which is frustrating to use. Google tasks IOS app is quite pleasant to use and so I got this device to sync to that app. You have to use voice recognition so my wife can't use it until she sets it up which is distopian in the first place whereas alexa doesn't discriminate who it spies on (jk). It is frustrating though to have voice recognition though as I was sick last week and I couldn't get it to listen to me to save my life. Even after getting better when you go to turn off an alarm when you are groggy in the morning it doesn't recognize your voice until you say to turn it off like a fully alert and awake person the way you code your voice, which is done with three total sentences by the way. I would return this device if I still could, unfortunately that is not an option. If Big Brother is going to be watching me I want it to pay attention because I need to get some stuff done. Instead it feels like it only wants to record what it recognizes as you so that it can directly identify your words with your identity. I am being overly paranoid I know, but if you really consider just how much Google Relies on data for its business model, its not wrong to be concerned. Even in the data economy they are as far as I am aware by far the worst offender possibly on planet earth but certainly in the United States from what I have read. The ways in which it has been caught utilizing that data to manipulate people in elections for instance (I have no interest in party politics so I won't mention what influence they intended to have, but there is pretty good evidence of this if you look into the organization that figured out how to track the way google is using ephemeral data). Anyways, its not worth the rub. I may just throw this thing in the trash and go back to using my four alexas and let them be my overlords because at least the lady listens and responds accordingly.

It is astonishing that the google assistant AI is almost as stupid as Alexa and that is saying ALOT with how stupid Alexa is. "Okay Google, Open youtube." Okay, i will open youtube on your TV on the other side of the house that isnt even on. "Okay Google, play my custom playlist on Spotify" Okay, I will play this random playlist some idiot in Norway made on Youtube Music. "Okay, google stop playing spotify." Okay, playing Dont Stop Me Now by Queen on Youtube Music. "Okay, Google, call my girlfriend." Okay calling your shift supervisor at 2AM. I am so glad I bought this piece of junk on sale. Because the stress that both Google Home and Alexa adds to my already stressful day to day life is not worth it. If you need something to monitor your cameras, set alarms and reminders, turn off lights and lock doors or if for some god forsaken reason you want to use Google's god awful Youtube Music instead of Spotify like a normal civilized person. This is for you. If you want something dependable that isn't going to drive you over the edge of your already crippling stressful life or if you have unresolved anger issues that could be set off by a minor inconvenience. Hire a personal assistant or just do it yourself. I'll be waiting for a third party that isnt Amazon or Google to develop a Virtual Assistant AI that doesn't make me want to throw it across the room and then drive my car into a river. Cheers. But not to Google.

Please be aware that this does not have a camera so no video call. Anytime we tapped an app like Netflix it would say it didn’t know where I wanted it to play it. Geek squad came and they couldn’t figure it out either. We had 2 and they both did that.

I purchased 2 of these on sale and was looking forward to having Google devices in my home. I could not get either one to connect properly with my network or my phone. I tried ipad and an android too. No luck. I saw online conversations that indicated others may have had the same issues I was dealing with. I tried following all the tips including resetting several times. Still wouldn't work. I picked up the Amazon Echo Show 8 to see if it would be better. The Echo show joined my network with no issues and setup was a breeze. I returned the 2 Nest Hubs.

Hi benny, thanks for trying out Nest Hub (2nd Gen). It's unfortunate to hear that you are experiencing performance, touch screen and 3rd-party support issues with it, and we apologize for any disappointment you may be having.
Resetting Nest Hub may be helpful with the issues you are experiencing. A factory reset will reset your Nest Hub to its default factory settings, and erase all data. To reset, check on the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.

If you need further help, we recommend reaching out to our support team for further troubleshooting and isolation. You may contact us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
