This modem and router combo features a full-rate ADSL 2/2+ modem, a 4-port Ethernet switch and a dual-antenna wireless-N router in one unit for a wide range of high-speed connection options.
Q: will this work with CenturyLink on 20 mbps?
A: NO, not anymore! They're trying to switch all their internet service over to some certain type of technology, so this modem is no longer "approved." I ended up on the phone with Tech Support from Centurylink for over an hour trying to figure out why this stupid thing didn't work. Took them that long to actually check their list and figure it out!
Q: Does this work with AT&T DSL?
A: Yes I successfully set it up with ATT DSL
Q: Will this work with Windstream?
A: Yes but windstream will act like its your router when its there connection problem, been round and round with them
Q: do ethernet ports work even when wireless modem is turned off
A: Depends on what you mean by "turn off". If you mean "unplug from electricity", the Ethernet ports won't work, because the modem is off. It needs power to run. If by "turn off" you mean "there are no LEDs on the Modem when I turn it off", yeah, it's dead. There are some models that can be powered by the Ethernet cords themselves, but that requires Power over Ethernet support, and the devices connected to the modem to be giving Power over Ethernet... you likely don't have that in your home. If you mean "turn off the Wireless broadcast from the menu," Wireless and Ethernet work independently. Ethernet will work even if Wireless is turned off, generally there is no way to disable ethernet ports on most household-grade modems.
A: I live in a large house. If the router is placed near the middle, it covers over a 2500 sq feet house.
A: yes
Q: is it comcast/xfinity compatible
A: No, this device is NOT compatible with Comcast/Xfinity. It is to be used with DSL-type providers (not cable). It does not have a battery backup, but configuration settings are persistent across power off/on. Just plug it into a regular home UPC.
Q: Will it work with Windstream.....?
A: Absolutely. I just replaced the Windstream router/modem with this one. The Windstream had only been in a few weeks and this replacement was done a few weeks ago so a very current "yes". A perk on this router/.modem is the range is greater. Signal is terrific too.
