Beware of security flaw Posted by: from: on Once you llnk this to your home network it is NEVER erased. I had one of these and then gave it to my friend who lives 5 miles away. Even though he linked it to his network, once he got outside and the phone app launched it communicated with the Belkin Cloud server. Guess what ? He could see all my other Wemo devices I had in my home and control them. The light switch retains the old network and password. Belkin knows all about the flaw but have not corrected it. You can NEVER sell or give the switch to someone else once you link it to your network. The next person will have access to any other Wemo devices you own. it took Belkin 3 weeks to fix this.. You would never know this is going on. The only reson i stumbled onto it was i hlepd hookit up in my friend's house. Then we went out to dinner and we launched the Wemo app on our phones. i was shocked to see all of my devices on his phone and I could still see the switch on my phoneplus all of my own devices. The 2 networks were linked and crossed. Never buy a used on off of Ebay. The switch memory is never erased. You really cannot sell it to someone else either unless you have no other Wemo devices. it was by accident that I discovered the issue.

Easy install, works as expected Posted by: from: Fishers, IN on Installation for the Wemo Light Switch was fairly easy. After turning off my switch at the breaker, examining my current wiring, I determined that my setup met the needs for the Light Switch. You must have a ground wire AND neutral wire for installation. This is outlined in the instructions that came with the Light Switch. Also, the switch that you install this on must be a stand alone. You can not have two separate switches that work on the same light. Our living room switch was perfect for this and I now have the ability to turn on/off all four ceiling lights via the switch itself or thru my phone. Wemo has the ability to turn on/off the lights at certain time frames, or you can integrate with other Wemo components (Sensor) to have this switch on/off. My favorite is the integration with IFTTT. I have a Withings WiFi scale, so when I go to take a measurement in the morning (upstairs), my living room lights will automatically turn on, ready for when I head downstairs. This kind of automation is exactly what I needed. Anyone looking to add some automation to your house, I would recommend this product.

Works but limited solution Posted by: from: on I bought two of these one for my foyer and one for my front porch. Works great for my front porch as it only has one light switch unfortunately can not use it on any light that has multiple switches so the foyer was out. Seems that has been an issue for a long time with this brand others do have this capability. I won't be buying anymore of this brand as I would like all my switches automated eventually and would like the same brand. They do connect to easy and configure to your router easy as well we have had a couple of minor power outages and have not had to reconnect. This would be my first choice if not for the 2 way limitation.

No smart hub required Posted by: from: Cleveland, OH on I haven't dabbled in smart home stuff too much yet, as I can't determine which standard I want to use. I had a need to have my outside lights come on at dusk and shut off at dawn, and after reading reviews I decided to give the WeMo switch a try since it works on WiFi and doesn't need a smart hub. Be aware that this switch takes up a fair amount of space in the electrical box. I was installing it into a double switch that had a dimmer next to it, and I ended up having to move the dimmer to another location (it's a three-way switched light) so that I could fit the WeMo switch in the box. After moving the dimmer I got the WeMo in without indicent, and once it was installed it only took about 10 minutes to get it up and running (took a little over an hour to install it, since I had to move the dimmer for the other light to another spot). The app was a little confusing at first, but after reading the instructions I figured out what I was doing wrong, and I now have my outdoor lights coming on at dusk and staying on until dawn. There are a ton of options in the app for on/off times and triggers. All in all very happy.

Great Wifi switch Posted by: from: Saratoga Springs, NY on Awesome switch. We had exterior lights that were controlled from two switches, one in the entryway and one in the garage, and we wanted to conveniently control them both at the same time. Easy to install in if you have minimal experience with electrical wiring. No extra hub or bridge needed which saves $. The app is pretty good and easy to use too, we set our lights to go on at sunset and off at sunrise, which the app bases on your location so it stays updated as the season change all year. You can also turn the lights on/off from the app or at the switch itself. We spent about $100 on two, but we always get to come home to our outside light on no matter what.

Works but get a good router Posted by: from: on Before buying this Wall Switch I had a lot of trouble with their devices that you can plug a lamp into it. They kept disconnecting from the wi-fi. After trying numerous times I upgraded from the router provided by AT&T to a Netgear AC1750 which then solved my connectivity issues. So make sure you have a good router that can handle multiple devices on your wi-fi. I have more than 10 devices. This wall switch works very well and is easy to program. It has a constant white light to let you know it is getting power. When the lights outside are on, there is a more prominent green LED that comes on. My house was built around 1990 and it turned out to have the required Neutral Wire, I had an electrician come install it. Originally he was going to install a Neutral Wire..

Go ahead all the way in for! Posted by: from: on This item is an awesome convenience to your wireless networking. Installation is a flash, it does not require a rocket science nor a book of wisdom to apply to common sense. All wires are colored and marked to connect to the respective colored wires. The beauty about this product is that you can program it (really not a programming but rather setting the timeframe to turn on/off at specified time, of course if you wish to call it programming, which contradicts my perception about the programming idea, which involves more complex set of setups and properties) to turn on/off at specified timeframe. The switch can be installed in the mix of other switches just as it shown in the pictures I uploaded, or you can install it individually if an individually available socket is feasible. Hahaha. Do to it as you wish, as it looks good to your eyes. It's all good. It cost me $14, but if you're going to pay $55 for it and then bungle it up, it might be a painstaking mess. Do your best, but do not substitute it with your worst! 7ou can't go wrong with it. This item goes along with you. It does not go against you.. Hehehehe

Simple Effective Solution Posted by: from: on Product has been working flawlessly for since I installed. Would have given 5 Stars but I found the programming a bit confusing, but got all four of them working according to sunrise and sunset. No longer have to call my wife on way to work to shut off outside lights :). Plus I am an amateur automation nerd, so like simple functional solutions. Seemed like good value when compared to Lutron. Funny, Lutron didn't off simple on/off and wemo doesn't offer dimming. Worst part was doing the electrical. Needed to pull out and connect neutral wires where the switches I replaced didn't use. Turns out they power everything in the box, I had to do some fancy wiring to connect power to all switches/plugs. Would have hired an electrician but you are at the mercy of their schedule plus the additional cost. Net-net, definitely would recommend to a friend!

pretty good, its faults aren't its own Posted by: from: on I have 2 of these to control various lights around the house. It is working fairly well integrated with smartthings. The only downfall to the setup is smartthings occasionally losing contact with the switches. That said the wemo app always sees them. If you are looking for a wifi solution as I was these are a great find. Make sure you check for a neutral wire in your switch box before installing, no neutral, no work. Docking one star as the switch gets noticeably warm. Both of mine do this and research say it is the wireless chipset and it is completely normal.
