Peace of mind from the world's most trusted UPS.
The Back-UPS battery backup offers guaranteed power and surge protection for wireless networks, computers, gaming consoles and other electronics in your home or business. Models supply battery backup during outages and unsafe voltage fluctuations, as well as provide protection from damaging surges and spikes. They're available in 'tower' or 'floor' styles, and together with a variety of standard features, they are the perfect choice to protect your data and keep you connected.
Q: How many hours can run this backup battery without power
A: Based on the box, it said 160 min. I didnt do farther testing be cause I have 5 of them in the office and it does work when power outage.
Q: Is this unit Sinewave or Simulated Sinewave? Which consumer APC backup UPS's use Sinewave?
A: Thank you for your inquiry. The BX1500G provides a stepped approximated sine wave while on battery power. If your equipment needs a pure sine wave at all times, we would recommend something in our Smart-UPS line. ( SMT model ). We also have some AV specific units which provide a pure sine wave while on battery power.
A: Thank you for your inquiry. At 12 watts, the unit would give you around 315 minutes of runtime. The UPS has surge and battery outlets. So you can connect your pump to the battery outlets while your fish lamps to the surge only. This way only the filters would continue to run during a power outage while the lights would turn out.
A: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately we don't recommend using our BackUPS Pro units with a motorized load. One potential issue is the inrush current draw for a motor can easily overload a BackUPS Pro unit. BackUPS Pro is ideal for computer equipment and may result in the erratic behavior when connected to a motor. To protect this type of equipment, APC recommends first determining the appropriate size UPS for the motor load in question and ensure the UPS is large enough to handle the start-up inrush current draw of the motor. Secondly, select a UPS which outputs a pure sine wave when on battery, such as a Smart-UPS.
A: Shouldn't be a problem. The batteries are sealed. Just make any air vents have enough of a gap to breath.
Q: How much is replacement battery for APC Model BX1500?
A: The replacement batteries from APC are over half the cost of the unit with shipping, "they are heavy" but I never got that far mine burned up after 3 weeks Back to BB I am using my old one as strictly a surge suppressor now I just cancel the battery dead warning after a power failure when I restart. I may get a deep cycle 12V marine battery and put it in a battery box to regain backup capabilities. There are videos on Youtube that show you how to do this.
A: Thank you for inquiry. Yes you will have to leave the USB cable connected to the computer. This way the computer can receive signals from the UPS when it is on battery to trigger your computer to shutdown.
Q: What is considered a full load for this unit?
A: Thank you for your inquiry. A full load is calculated in watts, with the maximum wattage for this device being 865W. For our units, we do not suggest putting more than 80% of the total load on the UPS so that it can be operated without the concern for an overload. 80% load for this unit would be 692W which yields 6 minutes of runtime.
