Extra cable

casing material degrades or falls apart.

One was later stolen so I cant say it would have gotten as bad as this one. After 1.5 years this one may have completely died(or killed the iPod). One thing to consider though is that the protection plan might cover one or even both of these cords... otherwise I would not buy Apple USB cords again.
