Posted by: Multimedia from Manassas, VA on 05/11/2013I bought this lens primary to shoot pictures of my jewelry. The image quality is really excellent, but I was disappointed with other features so I returned the lens. The main disadvantage is that the lens is VERY heavy! The second inconvenience is that the minimum focus distance is so long! It's difficult to hold in your left hand a diamond jewelry or loose diamond and at the same time to shoot with the HEAVY camera hold by the other hand!
Canon - EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens is HALF weight compare with this one!
Anyway I would recommend this lens ONLY because of the image quality.

Takes great intraoral pictures

Posted by: SoccerFanatic2013 from on 04/14/2013I would recommend looking at professional reviewers with equipment designed to measure lenses if you are interested in macro lenses. However, as a user of this lens, I would simply say, it's sharp, it's fast, and it's a good lens.

Takes Good Basketball Action Photos
5
Posted by: SHOPAHOLIC3 from Franklin, Ohio on 03/06/2013I really love this lens! It did however take some getting use to. With this lens it took some time to figure out what camera settings worked best. Once I got that figured out I fell in love with this lens. This lens is a good len for taking photos in gyms with low lighting. I love taking basketball action shots, but have a lot of issues with low light. With this lens I am able to take good action shot in low light without using a flash. My only complaint is I wish it zoomed. You need to be close to the action to get the blurred back ground affect. If you get to close it will cut the player off. But to far away while it still takes good photos though the subject doesn't stand out as well. It would be nice to be able to zoom in so as to focus more on the subject. This lens has fast focus for fast action. This is a good lens for those of us that need a better lens without the extrem price. It is a little on the heavy side. That is not an issue for me, I look at that as meaning a good quility lens. Since switching to this lens I have people offering to pay me to take photos of thier athlete. You will not be disappointed with this lens.

Awesome, AWESOME

Posted by: amg603 from SoCal on 12/07/2012It does just what a Macro should. 1:1 with perfect quality. Quiet focus but noisy when REALLY close up. Fantastic as a portrait lens as well as a Macro. Feels a little light for me but I'm old fashioned.

Highly Recommended

Posted by: Coldbee98 from Fort Campbell, ky on 09/27/2012I purchased this lens about a month ago and by far is the best lens on the market. I was recommended by my instructor and it was a bit pricey but its well worth the money. Conducted my first photo shoot with this lens and by far the photos came out awesome.

have taken some very good photos using a tripod and handheld. This lense takes amazing sharp photos. Anyone interested in macro would
be hard pressed to find a better lense to start with. As my experience

Sharp lens at half an 'L' price
5
Posted by: kanehi from Honolulu, HI on 07/11/2012I was debating whether to buy the 'L' or this lens and this one won. After reading all reviews from web sites I went ahead and bought it and don't regret it. I use it on my Canon 5DII and 60D and the sharpness is incredible and the macro feature is a big plus. Focusing is fast and near silent. IS feature is a nice but not a necessity.

Good but not the best

Posted by: NaderH from Lebanon on 06/28/2012I got this lens to help me take nice photos of bees, but it turned out that it is easier to use my 55-300 lens for its quicker response and easiness of use.
