A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in the Dell 23" LED monitor! If you have a discrete video card installed in your XPS 8500, I recommend a standard DVI-D cable to use to connect with the monitor. Q: Can we hook up a ps3 with this monitor?
A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in the S2340M IPS LED monitor! You can connect up a PS3 to the DVI input of the monitor by using a HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. This monitor supports full 1080p video, so the image will be very nice. Just a quick note, this monitor does not support sound, so you will need to output the PS3 sound to a separate speaker source. A: Yes, you will need to purchase a tower as well. This is only a monitor.
Q: This monitor blacks out here and there.
A: The VGA cable that comes with it has thicker plastic on the PC connector than most. I had issues getting a good connection and my screen would black out from time to time. Used an older VGA cable with thinner plastic on the connector and it works perfect!
Q: what cable is required to use this monitor with a MS Surface Pro 3 (and/or the docking station)?
A: I use two pieces from my docking station: 1) a display port to DVI adaptor and then 2) a DVI cable. I also have a second monitor connected to the docking station by using a USB to DVI adaptor and another DVI cable. They both work perfectly side by side. To connect to the SurfacePro3 directly, I think you would need a mini-display port adaptor to DVI or VGA and then the associated cable. (I believe Microsoft makes an adaptor that is available at BestBuy.) I have not tried this though.
Q: What do I need to connect two of these monitors together
A: If your desktop has vga and hdmi then all you need is a cable for the second monitor (either hdmi or vga... depends on what you have. If your desktop does not have two outputs, you will need a second video card or you can get a vga splitter, not sure what OS you have, but I had trouble getting a splitter to work with Windows 8. I use the first method with two dell flatscreen monitors, works great.
