Posted by: hdzone from hdzone on 05/12/2013Speakers are a lot smaller than I anticipated, however the sound is awesome. The receiver is easy to install and use. I like the fact that the "extra" features are limited because it makes it much easier to navigate through the menu.
Would not recommend it for a large home theater, but excellent for small area.

Excellent beginner home/apartment audio system!

Setup was very easy, even when it came down to wiring. After a few minor tweaks to match my sound space, the system puts out an excellent sound. I use my Xbox to stream Netflix and Hulu in HD. The 5.1 sound is really amazing. The video output to my HDTV is excellent. I would definitely recommend this!

Very good sound; has enough HDMI inputs

Posted by: GreggFromFLG from Flagstaff, AZ on 04/25/2013I upgraded to this unit from a Samsung Blu-Ray home theater system. Compared to the Samsung, which had decent sound for it's size and price, this unit is far better sound-wise, and the speakers weren't too much larger than the Samsung (exception is the subwoofer).
I knew it would have better sound, since it has a discreet amp, and a powered sub.
I also like the standby pass feature (passes video and audio through the hdmi out). Inputs can be fixed to a certain one when it's off, or you can choose the last input used. I sometimes like to watch my satellite in an adjacent room where I ran an hdmi cable to a small Samsung TV/Monitor. I use a splitter to split the single hdmi out to two, one for my primary TV where the unit is, and the other secondary TV in the adjacent room. Audio output via hdmi is selectable between amp and TV, no option for both. That's where the standby pass-thru is handy, I just turn the receiver off, and then I get video and sound to the secondary tv. I get video only with the receiver turned on, due to the audio out via hdmi disabled and going to the amp instead. This is no big deal and I did not take any stars away because of it.
