Arrived quickly, made 3 out of 9 pieces of ice when the temps are low...now that it has warmed up i get 1 piece of ice per cycle(about every 10 minutes). was going to send it back, but due to family emergencies put it back in the box and moved it out of the way and forgot about it until after the 30day warranty. Now just consider it a wasted investment and would throw it in the trash, but it has refrigerant and is supposed to be recycled.

Our kitchen is really small so getting a larger refrigerator with ice and water dispensers on the front was not an option, and we have never hooked up water in order to have an icemaker in the freezer. So I had been pricing these icemakers on the internet, but the prices are really high for what you are getting. Then I found these refurbished icemakers at Best Buy for $89!! You can't beat that price so I thought it was worth a try and bought one. It arrived in perfect condition, the instructions were simple and it was easy to set up and start running.
Keeping it on the counter is not an option since our kitchen is small to begin with, but we hooked it up in the pantry and it has been working just great! I like that you can choose the size of the ice cubes that it makes. It also slowly melts the cubes and makes new ones, so they never get old or frozen together in the bin, and the cubes are constantly fresh. It also clears up space in our refrigerator freezer. We are really happy with this purchase. I'm thinking about trying to convince my coworkers to chip in and get one for our office before they sell out!

Good Ice Maker

I picked up the ice maker at the local Best Buy store last night. I bought it for our travel trailer to use while camping. Since we are going out this weekend, I unboxed it and checked it out. I noticed right away that ther were plastic pieces on the floor after taking off the plastic. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the bottom plastic case was broken. That being said, I was still curious how it would make ice so I check it out to make sure that it was just the case that was broken. It seemed fine so I filled it with water and plugged it in. It made ice all night. I really wish that I didn't have to take it back but it won't last long with the damage on the bottom of the case.

Excellent Ice Maker

Living in an apartment, it's a pain to make ice. I have to use ice cube trays, take up freezer space for the trays and then take up more space for the ice bin. This leaves me little room for food in my freezer. Although I lose some counter space with the ice maker, it makes up for a lot of hassle of making ice, frees up freezer space and makes life easier. We use a lot of ice.
This ice maker will make large ice cubes about every 15 minutes, so it makes a lot of ice very quickly.
This ice maker works like so: 1) you fill the maker with water, below the ice cube bin. 2) It draws the water into the freezing portion of the maker. 3) It deposits the ice in the bin.
Just to make things clear, the ice maker does not keep the ice frozen. It makes the ice continuously. The ice will melt slowly, and the melted ice will go back into the water reservoir.
Overall owning this ice maker for 6 months has been a pleasure. It hasn’t failed, stuttered or stopped working. I would recommend this ice maker to anyone. The price is way better than anywhere you will find.

First one bad, Second one works great.

The first one leaked water all over the place on start up. I returned it to my local BB and they placed another one on order since they didn't carry it. The replacement arrived a week later and has work great so far. It fills the tray in about two hours. I placed the unit under my desk and now can have Ice Tea all day long if I choose to.

Good for extra ice

The first unit shipped out was incomplete and didn't work. Best Buy was great and shipped a replacement before the original was returned. The second unit looked like brand new, no visible signs of ever being out of the box.
It is a good value for extra ice especially if you are located in an area where it is inconvenient to run to the corner for a bag of ice. It is fast on making ice but it is a very wet ice and it works better if placed in a bag in the freezer before use. The ice to me still has a strange taste after a month but it could be my water to be fair.
I use it to make ice for my coolers as we are full time RV'ers and it is great for this purpose. Another advantage is it is very conservative on its power needs and runs easily with a portable generator.. Over all satisfied and for approximately half price a good value. Especially with the backing of Best Buy.

Met my needs for great price

Public water supply here has a high mineral content resulting in the need for frequent repairs and shortening the lifespan of all free-standing and built-in icemakers that have been hooked up to our supply line, none of which could be easily adapted to use bottled water. Wasn't sure portable would meet our needs so bought attractively priced re-furb to try it out. Ice production exceeds expectation. Can make and bag enough in 8 hours to last for a week. Perfect solution for our circumstances. In regard to this particular model I suggest downloading and following the original owners' manual from manufacturer's web site for best results.

Great little icemaker

Let's face it, an icemaker that puts out restaurant quality ice is not going to be $99.
At first, I thought that the "chest" portion not being freezer cold would be bad, but mine just keeps on making ice. Sure it is "wet" ice as it is constantly melting back into the H2O reservoir and being made into new ice. We use it constantly and it is great for use when you need the additional ice.
We are adding a second unit for our office because the first one works so well.
Keep your expectations inline with the price and you will undoubtedly be satisfied with your purchase.
Enjoy!
