Greatest Hits: 18 Kids [CD]

I don't usually listen to country, but this cd is a great addition to my music collection.

18 Kids is a beautiful work of art 8 years in the making. The album kicks off with a casual cover of Steve Forbert's Romeo's Tune. This extremely catchy rhythm features a piano, one of the many instruments Urban can play. The second track is a remake of one of the songs off of his Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing album, Got It Right This Time (The Celebration). This is my personal favorite on the entire album. He took this simple song and transformed it into just what the title indicates, a celebration. It starts out with just a keyboard, a drum machine, and vocals. Then electric guitar, percussion, and background vocals for harmony eventually join in. As each part comes in and adds to the song, it gradually builds up leading to a huge explosion of melody. The joy and happiness that this song is about is portrayed perfectly through the music, making it an instant hit and one of the best tracks on the album. The next 16 tracks are a nice mix of billboard chart toppers. The entire album touches on a wide range of emotions. Listen to mind blowing guitar solos as in Stupid Boy, the soothing sound of just piano to Tonight I Wanna Cry, a Celtic sounding I Told You So, the love ballad Making Memories Of Us, country-rock themes such as Days Go By, Somebody Like You, and Better Life, progressive rolling upbeat numbers such as Where The Blacktop Ends and Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me, and more! As if this wasn't reason enough to love this album, the album case itself is quite a treat. The insert booklet is full of colorful photos of Keith, including all the covers of his albums and a few from his adolescence while the back of the booklet includes a personal message from him. Instead of the usual jewel case, the CD comes in a paper board cover that folds open to reveal some amazing photos of the entertainer taken from his latest tour. The paper board is at least 30% recycled material to help preserve the environment! Overall, this album is superb! The lyrics of these songs are so simple yet they strike so deeply with many people. The passion that Keith Urban puts into his music really shows.

This CD/DVD compilation is the one I’ve been waiting for! “18 kids” is phenomenal. Keith is such an amazing performer & this CD delivers nothing more the MAGIC. I would not categorize Keith as just a country artist. He is so much more. He takes you through the ups & downs of life like no other artist recording today. You can’t resist the infectious rhythms of “Days Go By” or “Who Wouldn’t Want To Be Me” along with “Where the Black Top Ends”. Or you can’t help but be moved by the haunting emotions of “Stupid Boy”, “Everybody” & “You’ll Think of Me”. Let’s not forget Keith’s astounding collection of songs dedicated to love, “Better Life”, You’re My Better Half”, “Once in a Lifetime” & his stunningly beautiful “Your Everything”. The 12 videos included in the package certainly make this a winning combination & a great gift for anyone who is on a quest for amazing music from any genre.

This CD appeals to all music fans - those who love country music and those who want to experience a talented singer/songwriter/musician. Keith perfectly blends the "feel good" aspects of country music (words you can understand and relate to) with fabulous rhythms (including some amazing guitar work) to create this greatest hits CD. Owners of other Keith Urban CDs will want to own this to have the “best of the best” in one place; new fans will want to own this to have a great sampling of Keith’s work. These amazing songs include all his number one hits – as well as two new tracks. Aptly titled “18 Kids,” it’s easy to see why these 18 tracks were selected by Keith – and it will be easy for listeners to see why these are the songs that have propelled Keith to stardom and to winning many awards, including ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Entertainer of the Year.’

This is one amazing CD!!! there are 18 songs, all of Keith's hit singles! Some of these are radio-edited, so they are a little bit different!! There also are 2 new songs, which are just great! There is the Cover Song of Romeos Tune, which in my opinion is even better then the origional, and there is a new version of the song called Got it Right This Time, which is on Keith's current selling album, Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing. This is a re-make of that song, it's called Got it Right Tihs Time(The Celebration). It uses more instruments and is a very beautiful song!!! This album is more than just a Greatest Hits album, its has fun songs, happy songs, heart-touching songs, and more! It's really the best you could ask for and I HIGHLY reccomend everyone going out and getting your copy of 18 Kids, today!!!!!!
