In my opinion, the best basketball movie of all time and one of the best sports movies.

This is a must see. All time classic. Even if you are not a basketball fan.

Whether there is a disclaimer for this being based on a true story or not, this really is a very close take on life growing up in the Midwest and yes, Indiana. I know, I am a Hoosier. Those from either Coast of the U.S. and everywhere in between have asked how much of this is true to everyday life. Take out the Hollywood, which there is not a lot of in this film, and you have a Hoosier lifestyle. Though people in the Midwest are not always the first to follow a new trend or catch up with the rest of society when it comes to overcoming issues, this film was a great take on the laid back life of it.

Probably one of the better basketball films that have ever come out, Hoosiers tells the tale of a small town community that builds a team and takes on giants. Gene Hackman is a tough coach that brings a group of kids together and builds up confidence in them to become men. It is based on a true story of the 1954 Hoosier basketball team from Milan High School that wins a state title. The music score is really iconic and reminded me of The Natural/Field of Dreams. A great 80's sports film.

gene hackman is a great actor and shows it as the coach in this movie...esp when he gets angry---just like in the Crimson tide ----When he has one of the best lines in movie history---they're fueling their missles we dont have time to f### around hahaha or when he says mr hunter im captain of this ship- not shut the f### up...ok different movei but same great actor... always enjoyed this film ever since i saw it back in day check it out---
