Probably the most underrated Tarantino film he is done. Pam Grier is amazing I loved that they picked her to star in this film, the cast as a whole completely nailed it. The soundtrack is also well picked, amazing classics.

While this film has received a lot of well-deserved praise it does feel like it's overshadowed by it's bigger and crazier predecessor Pulp Fiction and that's a shame because this is the film where Tarantino shows signs of maturing as a director and I would say it's next to Reservoir Dogs as my personal favorite of his. The Blu-ray transfer supervised by Tarantino is leap years above the now aged Special Edition DVD in terms of clarity and color and the audio is no slouch either. Extras are about the same as the previous releases but the DVD release was already loaded and at the Blu-ray's current price the lack of a lot of newer extras can be overlooked.

I know this is not one of the favorites of most Quentin Tarantino fans but if you watch it carefully you will enjoy the subtleties and well developed story. This is one of the best Elmore Leanord adaptions for film ever (even better than the different genre film "Get Shorty"), only television's Justified has done a better job of taking the frame of an Elmore L story and building a well crafted house. Robert DeNiro as you haven't seen him before is worth the price of the blu ray alone but Robert Forster and Pam Grier are great in this and their acting probably beats him out, but only by a hair. A must have for any E.L. or Tarantino fan.
