A: Hi! It's very easy to install yourself. It took me 15 minutes following the video tutorial step by step. It even comes with all the screws you need and an exact size screwdriver. I used my drill to make it faster, but it wasn't a must.
Q: what warrenty comes with 2nd gen. nest
A: You can buy a extended warranty from best buy during your purchase. It maybe just a replacement plan. Nest has a good tech support team. Not sure how good it is since Google now owns Nest.
Q: do you need to have internet working or can home be on vacation mode?
A: You need to have an Internet connection for the Nest communication.
A: It is not easy to control your unit. The program needs to control it. The software may hang up. I had a problem when I tried to control the humidifier in my furnace. A good heating contractor can install the Nest. Nest can give you a list of dealers that are certified installers in your area. There is a fee for this sevice.
Q: how advanced does my house need to be to operate?
A: I put two of these in my 200 year old house. That is the beauty of the Nest - it does not require any fancy wiring.
