Posted by: pdyebrasil from Utah on 05/13/2013I use these speakers as surrounds in my home theater system, and they are superb. Excellent sound quality. I have these hooked up to a Sony STR-DH810 amp. These speakers are a little big, so I bought some special wall mounts to position them properly. Totally worth it though. I have the full Andrew Jones Pioneer setup (minus sub) and I am VERY happy with it. I live in an apt., and even without the sub there is a good amount of bass. Plus my neighbors have remained happy :)

Outstanding value!

Posted by: GFrank from Youngstown on 05/05/2013I purchased these speakers based on published reviews. When I actually heard them in my home I was amazed at how accurate they sound. There is a "magical" quality to the combination of low cost and very high performance within reasonable volume levels.

Can't beat them for the price

Posted by: tech27 from lake charles, la on 05/03/2013These have great sound for a small bookshelf speaker. I have these set up as rear surrounds with the andrew jones designed pioneer sp-fs52 floorstanders and spc22 center with a yamaha 10 inch sub. All powered by the yamaha rx-v373 receiver. After tweaking settings on the receiver this setup sounds great. Got the complete 5 speaker package when they were on sale for less than 350 dollars which for the design and sound quality I think would be hard to beat. The sound is very natural and clear. If you are looking for a great sounding surround speaker setup at a very reasonable price this is it...

Decent speakers for the money

Posted by: from DC on 05/01/2013I purchased these speakers using a price match to an online competitor and overall I was content with the sound, but not quite happy. I noticed right away that these speakers are 6Ohm vs. 8ohm which means they might require a bit more power than most speakers. I paired these with the matching center speaker, a set of pioneer surrounds, and a pioneer 7.1 receiver (although using a 5.1 setup), all in a relatively small room. The speakers output decent sound, but are overall tonally flat. I might even say lifeless. That's not necessarily a bad thing as some people don't want their sound output colored by the speakers. However, I prefer a more "bright" sound. Also, it proved difficult to get appropriate volume levels out of these speakers. That could be a function of receiver settings, although I did set the speaker output to 6Ohm. Lastly, the speakers sound great at the midrange but seem to roll off quickly in the upper and lower ranges. I wouldn't call the lower end muddy, but there isn't the tightness and definition I was hoping for.
I returned these and purchased the Polk Monitor 40s which have a higher sensitivity, more range, a slightly brighter sound and cost roughly the same. I would recommend these to someone who is looking for a excellent midrange speaker at a good price that doesn't color the audio output. If you have the higher and lower ranges covered well via other means, these are a great addition to a home theater for a good price. However, if you're looking for a set with full dynamic range and excellent sound quality throughout, I would look elsewhere.

Solid Performers

Posted by: MajorDeal from Southern CA on 04/25/2013Started out with a pair of these as main speakers about six months ago in an attempt to add more dimension to an aging 5.0 speaker package. I was so impressed, that I have since upgraded my entire system to the second generation Andrew Jones line. I now have the BS22's acting as surrounds, and they perform great there as well. I would highly recommend these to anyone on a budget, as they are very versatile, and sound as good or better than anything in the same price range.
