I didn't need separate codes for each one and I didn't need to "teach" my remote how to perform functions. I previously bought a Philips remote that required "teaching" the remote if it did not already recognize your product and its functions. It was so complicated and a waste of time. This RCA remote was a breeze. It is very light (as far as weight is concerned) and has many functioning capabilities. I really appreciate that there is a backlight function that will illuminate the buttons in the dark. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and I would buy it again if I ever needed to.

Good universal remote

Posted by: tspoont from NC on 12/04/2012I bought this for my mother who is 70. The remote that came with her TV was worn out so she needed a new one. She doesn't have any desire to learn about advancements of any kind. I bought this one for her because it had an easy to read display with backlighting and I could set it to control both her TV and DVD player so she can control everything with one remote. Also, if she does decide later that she wants to upgrade to more sophisticated devices, this remote is capable of controlling those. Timely delivery.

Excellent remote for the money

Posted by: Technofiend from Houston, Tx on 09/12/2012This remote is excellent for the money. I have a Roku, TV, DVD player, and cable box all programmed to work with this remote. It has completely replaced the other remotes. It was one of the few that would control a streaming device for the price and it also allows you to reprogram buttons to accomodate multiple DVD players, for example. I couldn't be happier with the remote!
