A: I have exact same set up and issue and you can't hook it up with a splitter. You have to have a SWITCHBOX. Look at best buy sku#2947005
A: I think the manual talks about turning off the CEC function on the TV's if you don't want to have them both turned on to watch TV.
Q: Does this splitter switch automatically?
A: This is not a switch. It splits the signal and sends to both outputs at the same time. You don't have the ability to send only to one or the other.
Q: rocketfish HDMI splitter will not work on two TV's
A: That's how it works. Pain in the behind isn't it? I ended up switching to a different brand.
Q: TV has one HDMI port. Can I use splitter to connect two sources?
A: No, it will not work in that direction. You don't need a splitter, you need a switcher. An HDMI splitter is designed to take a single HDMI source and feed it to 2 separate monitors simultaneously. It only operates in one direction and at one resolution. The splitter typically has a circuit that tests the two monitors for resolution specifications and picks one compatible with both, but better on one. If you try using it to combine both into one output, you can damage your equipment and most likely will let the smoke out of the splitter. Your system requires one of the following devices: (1) An HDMI switch matrix with at least two HDMI source connections and 1 HDMI output connection. The Rocketfish™ 4 Port HDMI Switch (Model: RF-G1185) is available from Best Buy for $69.99. It has 4 source inputs for a couple of more devices later on, but it's really the best no frills option out there. OR (2) A home theater receiver with 2 or more HDMI inputs and at least one HDMI output. The receiver contains the switching circuits required to pass the cable box or DVD player to the TV at the best possible resolution that the device and TV will support. This option also has the advantage of having an amplifier to connect some nice speakers to, resulting in a much better overall viewing experience! Best Buy has the Pioneer 5.1 Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver with 4K Ultra High Definition and 3D HDMI pass through (Model: VSX-530-K) on sale for an incredible $179.99! (That's $70 bucks off regular!) Another plus with this option is that you won't be sorry you spent $70 on that switch, when you decide you want a receiver a few months down the road... I spent a lot of time (and money) trying to make a work-around for my system that includes a 3D BluRay, home theater PC, X-Box, Wii, WD-TV media box, plasma flat screen and 3D overhead projector. I learned quite a bit about HDMI characteristics and ultimately replaced my older receiver with a new Pioneer home theater receiver with 3D pass through, and a 3 source by 2 output HDMI switch to get it all connected together. Good luck and happy viewing! Disclaimer: No, I don't work for Best Buy, I'm just a huge fan!
Q: Will this splitter allow both TVs to show one picture
A: Yes, this will allow you to split a signal into two identical signals to show on two TVs.
Q: Can I use this splitter for my laptop to show 2 different displays?
A: What you input into the splitter will be put on both monitors hooked up to the outputs. You would need two separate hdmi outputs from your computer to show different outputs on your monitors.
Q: Can this splitter be used to pass 3D video to a 3D TV and HD audio to an HDMI 1.3 AVR?
A: You need a Blu-Ray Player with 2 HDMI outputs. One goes to 3D HDTV for Video and the second HDMI (SUB) goes to your NON 3D AVR for audio ONLY.. Then go to the Player settings and follow manual. Panasonic has 3D player with 2 HDMI out, You don"t need splitter.
