A: Yes, mine does the same thing. If you turn the ion feature off it stops ticking like you said.

Q: what is the AC input? can I use it in a 240V country?
A: No. It uses 115v AC and cannot be plugged into a 220v receptacle. The plug is different anyway so it's impossible to make that mistake.
