A: Only Soda Stream bottles can be used. There is CO2 pressure involved, and the seals must be tight. (Also, the Soda Stream connectors/fittings are different from any other bottle I've seen. I can't imagine any other bottle working well. It wouldn't make engineering sense.
Q: Are carbonators refillable or do you need to buy new ones? How long do they last?
A: You bring the carbonator to any store that sells them and they will sell you a replacement one, while taking back the old one - kind of like propane tanks when you return the old tank and get a new one that is already refilled. As to how long they last, it depends on how many bottles of soda you fill up. There are 2 sizes of carbonators. The large one will make up to 130 liter bottles, but it depends on how many pumps you put into each bottle. Obviously, the more you put in, the less bottles you will get out of it.
Q: Can you carbonate other liquids besides water?
A: The directions say to carbonate only water, and then add flavorings to it. I've always used it that way. I typically fill the remainder of the jug up with fruit juice (say, cranberry or cherry cider, something tart), AFTER I have carbonated the water. (However, I don't know why you couldn't just carbonate other things directly, such as apple cider -- to make sparkling apple cider.) I presume they don't recommend it because of the cleaning issue. The apple cider would get on (and perhaps up inside?) the CO2 spout, where it would be hard to clean. ??? Perhaps there is a health issue there. I don't know. Other than that possibility, I cannot think of any reason why it wouldn't work excellently.
A: Hi The 60 litre carbonator makes up to 60 litres of Sparkling Water, but you do not have to make it all at once, so it will last for some time for you based on how often you use it. The replacement cylinders are about $20 when you bring an empty cylinder back, so it works out to about 33 cents a litre.
Q: How long do depress the button to get a good carbination?
A: Depress the button until you hear a loud "beep"
Q: ARE INEXPENSIVE SODA STREAMS ABLE TO MAKE GOOD SELTZER WATER?
A: Absolutely! Here is the definition of seltzer water: "Seltzer water is just plain water that has been carbonated. This water, which contains no sodium salts, gets its name from the German town of Selters, which was renowned for its natural springs. Seltzer water was first introduced as a cheap alternative to sparkling mineral water — and it still is an economical option today." So soda stream just takes regular water and adds carbonation via C02. Nothing could be more simple (or economical)
A: I would say no, it has a canister of CO2, no way they are going to let you bring that on a plane.
Q: what is the difference between jet soda maker starter kit and a regular soda stream?
A: Their shape and size, the price also plays a factor in which one purchased
