Q: Can you turn the flash off if desired and can you also force the flash to be on?
A: Yes to both. I set the flash to "always on" and then simply don't raise the flash if I don't want it. If it's not raised it won't flash, if it is raised it will. Works great for me!
A: Yes. It has the option to switch to the viewfinder to take pics or through the LCD screen. Also, the screen flips out so you can take a pic above your head and still see the pic.
Q: Is it good for outdoors? Mountains, water and zoom in on wildlife?
A: Yes. If you are not a pro and don't know how to use a DSLR properly, this will work for what you need. This is a great camera for capturing outdoor scenes. I use it to photograph our garden and for birdwatching. For serious zoom - you will need a tripod. I attached an image taken on extreme zoom. The shooting conditions were poor as I was photographing this hummingbird through a somwhat dirty window and the picture still came out this crisp w/o a tripod. Had I not been focusing on the feeder in anticipation of the birds flying up I think I could have a clearer shot of the bird instead of a semi focus on the bird and a sharp focus on the feeder. This was also my 1st day to use the camera and I am not using any manual settings, this was on the full auto mode.
A: I just purchased a 55mm UV filter that fits fine on my HX 300 lens.
Q: Is the camera good in low light situations and can you take multi shots ?
A: Hi Photobug, you can select different shooting styles in Scenes Selection including PeT and Night Scene. There is also a Continuous Shooting mode to take up to 10 frames per second for fast moving subjects. Thanks_Mitch
Q: Will this camera put the date and time stamp on the picture?
A: Yes, it is possible to add date stamp only, time stamp is not supported.
Q: How does this camera perform at indoor concerts?
A: This takes great pictures and picks up the lighting great without flash. I use the auto functions mostly as well. My 15yr old son uses the effects and has taken some great photos. Also, some concerts limit the type of cameras you can bring into the venues and this one qualifies and the zoom works great! I use the video function in low light or fast paced concerts, then take pictures from that. Eliminates blurry photos!
