Fitting more entertainment value into less shelf space just got easier. With a DVD/VCR combo player, you get the connectivity and features without the clutter. One Touch Recording for the VCR provides a simple and convenient way to make a recording. Simply connect your DVD/VCR to your cable or satellite box and then to your monitor/TV and you are set to record a tape with the push of one button!

Q: How to hook up my neew DVD/VCR

A: This set up is very simple no cable cord required just the 3 red yellow and white cords and they are included.

Q: Can I watch a TV program and record a different TV program that is on at the same time? The manual says NO.

A: No, you can't. This recorder, and all current Toshiba recorders, does not have a tuner. With older VCRs, you could watch one program while recording another because the recorder and TV each had a tuner. The recorders tuner was tuned to one channel, and the TVs tuner was tuned to a different channel.

Q: can you use this machine to convert your old vhs tapes to dvd?

A: No. This model has a DVD player, not recorder. To copy from VHS to DVD, see the DVR620, below. Be aware that most commercial VHS tapes and DVDs have copy protection embedded in the video, preventing duplication.

Q: can i play my old vhs and my dvds on this machine at different times?

A: Yes you can. This is the purpose for which I made the purchase. It replaced a separate VCR and DVD player that I used to have.

Q: What type cords are needed for conntection to TV / Cable

A: It has component video out, s-video and regular old video out. comes with those cheap cables. There is no HDMI or DVI output.

Q: can this play VHS tapes recorded in EP speed?

A: Yes. It's labeled as SLP mode. It's the same thing.

Q: will this play vhs tapes recorded in any speed mode, SP, LP, or EP?

A: The SD-V296 plays VHS tapes recorded in the SP and SLP speeds.

Q: is this $119.00 machine new?

A: Yes, the product was new
