Works well as expected

So far, I have had minimal issues with the wireless transmitter. I am using it to broadcast a cable box signal from a theater to an adjacent family room. The IR repeater/emitter is great because it allows my Logitech harmony remote control to power on/control the cable box as if it is in the same room. I have read reviews regarding instability of the connection between the units and that has only happened to me once in the 4 months I have had the product. It was simple enough to reset it and the connection re-established. Perhaps they are having issues because of the distance between the two receivers. I am using it about 20 feet through 2 walls. All in all, it works as I expected. The only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars is the fact that I was having some issues using this with my surround sound pass through. Originally I wanted it to connect my cable box to a SONY STR pass-through then to a TV, but there seems to be a compatibility issue with pass-through surround sound systems. I ended it connecting from the Actiontec straight to the TV and using the TV's optical out to connect it to the SONY system. It's not ideal, but it works.

I bought this for my church. We needed to get the video feed from our sanctuary down a hall to the nursery so that volunteers watching the kids could see the sermon. Setup was easy. The video looks clear. The only thing that is a little troubling is that we have to unplug and plug back in the receiving unit every Sunday so that it will make the connection. Still WAY better than having to run a 50 foot cable through a few walls.

I recently built a "She Shed" for my wife, so she can do her crafts and what not in peace. I wanted to surprise her by adding a small TV in the shed, but since it is already finished I did not want to cut holes in the walls I just put up. I was very skeptical about these trans/receivers I was looking at, as the walls contained insulation that have a heat shield barrier on one side. Something that looks like it would interfere with the signal passing through it. It looks like an aluminum film.
I did go ahead and purchase this unit to try it out, with the option of returning it if it didn't work out as I hoped it would.
Turns out it works perfectly, no signal loss, no delays, no interruptions of the signals. It just works!! Only one slight problem I had, no fault of this unit, is to locate the remote sensor on the cable TV box. Once I found the location of the sensor it worked perfectly.
Needless to say the wife is happy as can be, and I get to eat another hamburger tonight :-)

Can watch cable tv in another room wirelessly.
Posted by: redg54 from: Seminole, FL on
I love the concept of this. We are able to watch tv wirelessly in another room as long as an existing cable box is hooked up to the transmitter and turned on. The receiver is in our sunroom. My only con is that the IR cable for the remote on the receiver is about 5 feet and we wanted to extend it to about 12 feet for a better connection, but there are no compatible male/female end cables. Found that out by trial and error with 3 different cables, then Actiontec finally responded and stated there is nothing on the market. Therefore, we have rearranged our set-up and will hide the wires through "wall channels". This kit works great...there is a little delay between the reading of the remote, but overall, it sure beats having to have another hardwired cable wire through an exterior wall. It works great for what we needed. This is highly recommended if you plan on using within the same room (what this kit is really intended for) where you can hide the cable box and wires and just have the IR remote cable exposed.

Fine when it works, but it has to be rebooted too often. I purchased it to link a TV on my patio to the indoor cable box approximately 15 feet away. Installation was easy and I was able to get it to work within 15 minutes. The problem is that it would stop working every few days and I would lose signal on both TV's. After contacting tech support 4 times in the first 2 weeks, I learned that the fix was to unplug it for 10 seconds to reboot the device, but that only fixed it temporarily and the reboot had to be repeated every few days. I am returning the product and waiting until they work out the bugs.

Cutting the cable wire
Posted by: OSHD from: on
I use the Actiontec Mywirelwss2 starter kit to have it setup on a specific wall in my living room. I have the transmitter setup from another room below my living room and the picture/sound works great. The reason I gave it a four star is the challenge with the HDCP protocol. My cable box provider Xfinity has the newer HDCP protocol that will make sure the signal out of the cable box is not going into a copying source. If I turned off the TV that is hooked up to the receiver box, my cable box will not transit the video through the MyWilressTV2 transmitter. Once I figured this out, I will always turn off the cable box before I turnoff the TV and do it in reverse when I turn TV on before the cable box.

I brought in a home theater guy to mount a TV on my fireplace and he wanted $1500 to run wires through the brick! Then the cable guy told me about this product. For $200, we are wirelessly streaming to out TV over the fireplace without any loss of quality.

I have a Tivo Premier XL in my living room and an older Tivo Series 2 in the bedroom. The Tivo Series 2 is low-def only and doesn't support digital only cable signals. I've been living with it and really wanted to upgrade it but they are so expensive when you buy the lifetime subscription.
I bought this so that I can wirelessly use my living room Tivo in the bedroom at night. It took me about 30 minutes tops to get both the transmitter and receiver connected. The hardest part of the whole install was trying to find the IR sensor on the front of my Tivo for the IR Blaster on the transmitter. Once I found that everything worked flawlessly. I've only been using it for a few days and I love it. It saved me a few hundred dollars from buying another Tivo.
Picture and sound quality are perfect. I was expecting to get some time lag with the remote but the delay is so tiny that I don't even notice it. FF and RWD is not a problem at all.

Wireless works well

I has a room that needed to have a cable connection in it but there was no access through the attic. Pulling cable would have messed up a new attic insulation job. The Actiontec connection was good for my application. I used the cable box in my bedroom as a source and sent the signal wirelessly to the spare room in the garage area. The Actiontec set provided a 1080P signal that can be controlled in the destination room. Quite handy. I find that after periods of inactivity, the transmitter needs to be power-off reset. Works fine after that. Good product.,
