Way Better than Rewiring My Whole Place Posted by: from: Honolulu, HI on Love this little gizmo! I live in an apartment and my cable company stuck the modem/router combo all the way on the other side of the place. I could barely receive the signal on the other side near the bedroom. I plugged it into my router using CAT6 cable and plugged it into an open power outlet near the router. You MUST make sure the transmitter is NOT plugged into a surge protector. You will have a bad time if you do. I then plugged the receiver at the other end of the house and connected my smart tv, bluray player, network printer, and desk top up using CAT6 cable. I ran a speed test and the normal speed (around 60mb/s) only dropped to 54mb/s. Very happy result! Keep in mind that the outlets that the transmitter and receiver are on must be on the same circuit breaker box in your home. You will have a bad time if you don't. As an aside, I used CAT6 cable vs CAT5 or 5e because I wanted to make sure any slow down that may occur would be the fault of using super cheap ethernet wires.

Works better than expected! Posted by: from: on My wireless router is at one end of my 2 story house, my office is at the other end. I have a NetGear wireless booster that works great, but is fickle about when it works. I was looking for an easy way to get hard wired and came across the concept of these adapters using the powerlines. I was a little skeptical, but for $50, why not? This thing exceeded my expectations: very easy to set up, just plug it in. Having 4 ports is perfect for my home office with printer. It may not be as fast as a "real" gigabit router, but it is rock solid and always works. I average 60-70mbs download speeds.

Better than I thought! Posted by: from: Las Vegas, NV on I bought this to replace two Netgear WNA3100-100ENS wireless wifi adapters that were being used in both my wifes and my computers. With the adapters, the signal would drop on a frequent basis, cause Java to crash once in a while, and I was constantly restarting my computer. Our computers are in our office, which is located all of 25 feet away from the router, with no electronic or metal interference in between point A and point B. After a night of losing the signal 10 times in 15 minutes, I decided to research what was out there that would help alleviate this problem. After a mind numbing amount a reading, debating, and doubting. I bought this ActionTec powerline adapter. Stunned. I was totally stunned. I've had these approximately a week now, and I've yet to have signal drop, slow downs, or crashes. You simply plug in the base module into a wall socket, connect your modem/router via ethernet cable, and plug the receiving module into any wall socket (except a GFI), and connect your device via ethernet cable. The receiving module also has four (4) ports on it and delivers equal speed to all items on the circuit. The speed you'll receive with this depends on the age and wiring structure of your house. My house was finished in June, so I'm achieving maximum speeds. I have no regrets with this purchase, and would recommend these to anyone who would like a consistent and stable speed.

Easy Solution Posted by: from: on Easy way to wire your home if you wifi issues in certain spots or older devices without wifi, easy directions and pretty much plug and play. Great alternative to rewiring your whole house. I work from home , but my companies laptop closes down wifi when out of the office for security....I guess, so plugging this in and connecting is simple.

Excellent & User Friendly! Posted by: from: on After doing a lot of research on powerline adapter products, I chose this one almost by default because this is the only one my local Best Buy had in stock. With that said, I could not be more pleased with my purchase. Setup took literally 2 minutes to complete and it was seamless. I plugged the main adapter into the socket, ethernet cable from cable modem to wireless router to the Actiontec adapter. I put the 4 port adapter in the living room which is approximately 100 feet away from the main adapter and I hooked up my SmartTV, Xbox One, PS4 and 3D Bluray player. The adapters synced up perfectly and without issue. The best part was the speed enhancement over wifi. My PS4 was pinging at 3.5mbps and with this product, it is pinging at 37mbps. Crazy!! Not to mention my wifi setup is still functioning as it was before without any additional setup needed. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Terrible Product Posted by: from: Harwinton, CT on I purchased this product because my modem and router are in the room directly next to mine. My desktop PC does not have a wireless card so i figured this would do the trick, to get internet. Well after dealing with an hour of the worst customer support...they told me it has to be in the same room on the same circuit breaker. I finally got a connection but my speed was only 2.1 mbps when i usually receive 30+mbps. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Will be returning this product, and never would i recommend this product to anyone.
